You would do well to turn it into a shrub for easier picking by cutting spindly branches reaching up. It will grow in width and be full of leaves.

Dwarf Namwah is an absolute unit of a banana variety. Vigorous grower, heavy producer of high quality desert bananas, has a thick pseudostem which makes it very wind resistant, drought tolerant (due to all of the water it can hold in that thick pseudostem), compact (fruits with a stem around 7-10 ft tall), and cold hardy. I live on the central Gulf coast in zone 9B and they shrug off the 0-3 or so freezes we get each winter. Can't recommend it enough.

Sometimes seeds are the easiest option to get exotic fruit trees in your backyard. But as you rightly said it can be a hit & miss with the outcome of the quality fruit & the lengthy time it could take too. So what a friend advised me to do is once you get the seed grown plant off to a good start just source the budwood or scions of the varieties you love & graft them on. This way is much cheaper & easier to get a quality fruit bearing tree than going through all the hassle of importing a grafted tree with all de drama & expense of paying additionally for a Phytosanitary Certificate & custom & import fees
