Nobody ever mentions coverage - ie, how much solvent is needed for a tube of silicone sealant, and how many square feet of canvas will this solution treat?

could you explain how ammonia dissolves the casein and forms polymere chains?

If you put a little bit of dish soap on your finger after you put it in the crack, you can wipe your finger over it to smooth it down without it sticking to your finger at all. You can still do the same thing with water but dish soap works better
@FknNefFy27 күн бұрын
Probably using a little sandpaper on the rubber to rough it up would help it stick too

They make silicone spray. I just bought some but I realize it's not what I need for my project so I'm wondering what else I can do with it. I think the spray would work better than the tube. Maybe

Ohhh I thought you were going to try to coat your boots in them to make them waterproof. But you were talking about waterproof boots that you are fixing.. never mind

I would think the 24 hours of electricity with the blender would negate the green aspect of the plan, not to mention no blender will last long with that use so into the landfill. I think the use of the floor wax would be the more sustainable of the two.

VM&P Naptha is widely available in the USA. It is not banned in most States. Wear proper safety gear when handling it, and don't just slosh it around. Be smart.

It's not banned in the UK. I have just bought 5 litres of naphtha for my camping stove and Zippos.

Hi😊 can I use this for my diy beeswax?
@SerenoOunce2 ай бұрын
Haven't tested with silicone yet but an overlooked alt to naphtha is plain kerosene. It's actually less volatile so a bit safer to use and store. Use it regularly as a cleaning solvent for tar and adhesive residue.

You said in the video there were more sustainable chemicals than formaldehyde and that you might suggest some alternatives, but I don’t see a reference to same in the comments.

Could you show how to make a clay based paint (ie Debi's Design Diary)? "Furniture Artists" seem to love this paint, as It has less than 9 ingredients, no VOC's, all natural and yet it's SO expensive to buy in the store. 🖌️🎨💰 Thank you so much.

Alrighty, so anyone in NZ or AUS. Shellite is the go. I tried White Spirits and whilst it thins the silicone fine, Shellite just doesn't have nearly the odour... Also, make sure you're using 100% silicone. I tried being cheap and just got silicone sealant and it must've had an additive that just didn't let it cure for ages.

Has anyone tried to make this at home? I'm wondering how well the powder sticks to paper (using glycerin, or glycerin & ink, or versamark), and also whether the powder melts and becomes shiny? I think it might, but I was sure from seeing it still damp on the white tiles. Thank you.

I just found Martins videos and I'm sad to find out he has passed. Does anyone have more info on this type of build? I want to build a panel with his design but can't find anything on it. What is the reflector material he used? Is there an optimal shape and size for the reflector? I hope this hasn't been lost.

I arrived here after wondering if I could DIY-fix a tiny tear in my favorite faux-leather black ankle boots by using "patch" material with an adhesive (strong and flexible) -- which soon led me to ponder the possibility of sealing the boot-seams with silicone while I was at it. Does that make sense? I'm talking about creating a fine, thin layer of sealant all the way around -- from toe to heel-base -- that bonds the sole to the material (making it seem...dare I say ... seamless?). At first glance, these boots didn't seem like they'd last all that long, but but I got quite bit of mileage out of them -- 5 years -- before the damage came (it was carelessness in the last year that did it, sadly; as with relationships, even the really good ones, we all have a tendancy to care a little less than we should the longer we're in them🙂). But I love these boots enough to blather on about them to strangers while also asking for any feedback that may get me closer to acheiving my goal. I noticed that someone suggested a "spray on" ("air brush") approach to silicone that would achieve the result I'm after. Does anyone know if there's a product out there like that? I've searched but haven't found anything yet. I don't relish fighting with a caulking gun to get a thin coating of silicone. I've used guns for caulking bathtubs and they're no fun. This job requires something more delicate, where you can use your hands to mold it in place ...or something like that. Any thoughts, suggestions, etcetera, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and my apologies for the long post!

We produced one book shape candle for one customer, size around 19*13*4cm,weighs around 800g, the lab test 10° tip over test and can not pass, since it's tall and thin, could you kindly advise what kind of support can be added to make it pass the test, thanks in advance for your help.

Embossing powder is ground plastic. I've messed with it many times. When the powder is heated, it melts and sticks to whatever surface you are using. I use vegetable glycerin for the base for it to adhere too.

This video is baffling on the whole as there's no context for what you're doing and how you're doing it. If the stated aim of your channel is to be more sustainable, using silicone and petroleum based fuels for experiments hardly seems sustainable or ecologically sensible. Silicone might be easily obtainable but is hardly ecologically sound, it cannot be easily recycled or recovered. Waterproofing fabrics? Why not use sustainably available plant based waxes instead?

Thank you so much! Until now, I’ve barely received any information on how to properly conduct a burning test, and your explanation is very helpful. My question might be a bit silly, but I was wondering if there are any differences in Europe regarding the criteria you mention for a proper test, or if it’s something that should be followed internationally (I live in Spain). I’ve read about the two glass brands you recommend, and if you know of any European ones, I’d love to hear about them. Thanks again!
