Great video! Love it, always wondered about this APT thing
@robinschiele48748 күн бұрын
Does the APT system also affect the idle mixture screws? Could it be that if my idle is too rich (AFR of 12) that I would also need to turn down the APT screw in order to get the Idle Mixture screws effective?

Well done.straight to the point with the carb on the bench. Din’t have to fight with camera and mirror’s to show where screws were located..

The rod end is so short and the fit is a little loose so it does not stay on. Thirty tries later and it keeps falling off during this process. Bad design.

I have an early 70s QuadraJet with the divorce choke... want to change intake manifold, but keep the same carburetor. Is there a way to do this?
@QuadrajetPowerLLC16 күн бұрын
You could go to a manual choke or no choke system.

Great info, i resolved my issue by restricting the idle bypass hole air my mild BBC. The bypass holes were too big for my application, causing the idle mixtures not to respond very well at idle.

Great video!! I'm running a 350 with 2.02 , 1.60 valves and a bigger cam and have been having issues with idle. I'm pulling about 17 inches of vacuum at idle do you think I need bigger idle tubes? Or is this enough vacuum to make the stock ones work properly?
@BP-ju8bc2 ай бұрын
17 inches is about stock. A big cam will go down to 10 inches

Great videos. Can You explain fuel circuit, how it is controlled when on idle what is holding the fuel from part throttle and secondary fuel cuirciut from flooding the engine, can You explain what is triggering part throttle system to get in and same for secondaries. Air flaps and linkeages are visible but ilustration what is happening with fuel i think can be interesting and big step for understanding.

@nFlames23 ай бұрын
Have you worked on the secondaries accelerator system it helps take off. Some of the Qjets upper secondaries butterflies are slotted in front of the port to get higher vac signal sooner for more fuel. I normally drill them just shy of a wd40 straw anymore that that will be too rich.

Do these adjustments work the other way too? I had to adjust my choke thermostat clocking and vacuum pull off a while ago, and ever since then, my fast idle is really high and stays there for a very long time (5 mins or so before finally dropping down a bit). Is it possible that, by making these adjustments, I tightened up the fast idle cam?

My only problem is doing a second gear WOT pull. The car sucks the bowl dry. Having to run a 3 nipple jeep fuel filter to prevent vapor lock. Would a 3 nipple hi volume mechanical fuel pump fix this???
@wadewingfield46063 ай бұрын
These carbs were run from 230 CID Pontiac six cylinders to 454 Chevy big blocks. For such a range there were three different needle and seat assemblies for different fuel use ranges. You might check to see what you have vs what the carb came on. Max fuel pressure was rated at 7 psi.
@QuadrajetPowerLLC3 ай бұрын
You need good fuel volume to the carb. Use large needle/seat and check float height.

Check your float height. Yes, you could remove the cup for more bowl volume. Check your entire fuel line, make sure no kinks or cracks.

I have a quadrajet rochester carburetor on my 327 small block chevy I ended up ordering a used carburetor off ebay and all numbers match. I watched Your video when I install this choke lever and and get it set up do I need to install a hose on passenger side of carburetor to operate the choke or how does that work
@QuadrajetPowerLLC3 ай бұрын
No hose needed for divorced choke carb. Choke element sits on intake and connects to carb with rod.

Between Ruggles book and your videos I am starting to understand how it works and how to fix my problem in the going off idle circuit. I have to richen up the idle circuit. My tubes are stuck pretty tight. I have to try to get them out again or try to drill them from the top and flush out any chips.
@george1la3 ай бұрын
You have helped me to understand how to fix my problem. As soon as I go off idle with light throttle it falls on its face. I have had trouble getting out the tubes, even with heat. I am going to try again. If I just punch it and not on a hill it seems to bypass the intermediate circuit and go directly to the main circuit. It used to be extremely smooth until I put in another cam. If you have a flat tappet cam and have had failures go to diamond like coating (DLC) lifters and it all stops.

You should only use one gasket. If the kit has two, chose the correct one for your application.
