Is this weathering process of pronunciation responsible for the vast number on homophones in Japanese?

3:57 We should end Mandarin's oppression of other Chinese languages by establishing nation-states, with the Cantonese-speaking area as Yue country, the Wu-speaking area as Wu country, and the Min-speaking area as Min country.

for me personally, two best episodes of conlang critic are sambahsa, because of the hilarious grammar section and the rjienrlwey challenge😂 and viossa, because jan misali brought the actual members of language community and it was so unusual

Minor nitpick. The word is pronunciation not pronounciation

amazing video! loved to watch it! i just have one teeny tiny nitpick that i would like to point out, which is that elfdalian is actually most likely not descendant from old norse but is more likely descendant from a para-old norse. this is because elfdalian preserves some distinctions that old norse got rid of, such as the distinction between /w/ and /v/, nasals, and the fricative sound written as a "g" in the word "oga".

Simplified is easier to read for me but looks kinda scarier than traditional (In a cool way) Reading traditional characters is really a mess Not to say that it's bad or anything it's just easier to read and write simplified because it has less strokes, which can be very useful for Chinese learners if they want to draw the character
