You know what, you're right. In certain sections where it was just snow it felt really grippy, but i found it slippery on sections that had already had traffic/people on them, so it was compressed a lot and almost like ice. Mega fun, but I only get snow once every couple of years :(

You get to run in some amazing places Cameron, looks incredible! Dodgy gates and all! 😁 I’m inspired by the volume of work you are putting into your training. I was supposed to do my first ultra in May 2020 which was cancelled. About 3 days before the date it was supposed to be I put together a route from my front door to my front door in a big 50k loop and did that instead, was a great run. Good luck with it all 👍

Thank you :) I am very lucky with the trails and mountains on my doorstep. It's actually quite frustrating because I have some stunning locations less than 30 mins drive away (Brecon etc), but as we aren't allowed to travel to exercise at the moment, it'll have to wait until the spring. Glad your 50k route went well. There is something really fun about creating your routes. If I had the motivation I would look at putting on races one day.

Glad to see that you are back training and sharing the journey in these videos. Looking forward to it even more this year as we are both training for 50 milers. Thats a great home gym you have and a treadmill that goes downhill as well as up. Must take a bit of getting used to. Do you run on Zwift at all?
@TrailRunningWales4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think it'll be cool to see how me you and Dan all approach training for 50m slightly differently. Running downhill is a strange feeling, but like you said, you get used to it (the main reason I got it is because it goes up to 40% incline) I've never tried swift, but I see that a lot of people enjoy it. Do you enjoy it?
@HereWeAreRunning4 жыл бұрын
@@TrailRunningWales wow 40%, that is crazy. Yes really enjoy running on Zwift. The one place that I can race and run with others at the moment, albeit virtually.
@TrailRunningWales4 жыл бұрын
I could be tempted to give it a go at some point. How does the treadmill link to the app?
@HereWeAreRunning4 жыл бұрын
@@TrailRunningWales Several ways you can do that. You may find your treadmill can connect directly. There is a list of compatible treadmills on the Zwift website. If not then most people use a foot pod. Some Garmin watches also work. But I use an app on my phone called RunCline. It works via Bluetooth. The treadmill connects to RunCline and then RunCline connects to Zwift. It communicates the speed and incline to Zwift.

Wow 100k a week? That's Impressive! I assume you're running 100 milers? That's loads more than my body can handle right now, as I've only just come back off a serious injury (was out for about 6 months, so I lost all fitness), so it's just building slowly right now and making sure I avoid another injury. I'm around about 5 hours running a week right now, but there's load of time to progress. I'm doing a 50m (Lakeland 50) in about 7 months.

I had 3 pairs of Speedgoats 2/3 and then had enough of them compressing on my long runs. So went back to Salomon. Salomon are firmer but i find them so much more dynamic and stable especially on technical terrain. I've had some old wings pro 2 years ago that were the only shoes to date that allowed to bomb down the steepest and gnarliest downhill like it was nothing. The latest Sense ride 3 are a very good option to start with Salomon. Firm but not too much and so runnable. 8 mm drop protective and dynamic while very resilient for long outings. The Sense pro 4 is the more dynamic version. So fast. And for easy outings the Saucony Xodus 10 are the plushest shoes i've ever had road or trail. But i definitely recommend you try some Sense Ride 3. Give them a couple of runs to soften a bit and you'll find yourself running better and faster and more efficiently. From an ex Hoka fan
@TrailRunningWales4 жыл бұрын
The sense ride are ones that I've tried on previously, and I remember liking them a lot. I can't remember the reason why I didn't buy them though. I've always had real trouble finding shoes that work for me because most feel tight across my midfoot. Which is why I like the SG4s because of the thinner tongue and the extra space on the midfoot area. I think you've convinced me to give Salomon a shot. It'll be good to mix it up a bit. Although, it might have to wait a month or two, just because a new watch is top of my list right now :(
@ifonly15324 жыл бұрын
@@TrailRunningWales I find the Sense ride 3 have a bigger volume than Salomons of old so fit should be ok. That new Optivibe foam is quite amazing. Even if it feels quite firm compared to a Hoka the shock and vibrations dampening is remarkable. And in my mind they're so much more dynamic and stable than Speedgoats. The downhill performance is so much better as well
