Personally as a primarily cole fan, peripheral drake fan and only like 3 of Kendrick's projects I won't claim to understand them all at the same level. I will say, cole has a genuine admiration for both of them, he's also a competitor to them. It creates a conflict within him which was reflected well in middle child, in that song he even mentions he's not interested in beef for superficial reasons. Fast forward he has an opportunity to battle and he does what was in my opinion a rushed song, not the worst but if he waited maybe he wouldn't sound so conflicted in it, he later retracts it and reaffirms his admiration for Kendrick. This track he does similarly for drake. I think he's not as detached as both of them in his analysis of both their behavior and so he comes of as ignorant at times but the truth might just be that he thinks it's not worth his friendships to jump into the confrontation. Since I like Cole I emphasize more easily but I don't think there's any malice in his actions. I can't say the same for Kendrick towards drake and vice versa. Drake might harbor some resentment towards cole while Kendrick might view cole as a confused third party which is belittling in its own way. @@MBALI_LOVE_THANDO

Told my cousin this the other day after the song drop. 1 Great bars and wordplay. Rapping at a higher level than most. 2. Dislike the sample. I’m tired of him using Hov samples. 3. Disagree with the message of the song. He sent the first shot. He got personal and disrespectful FIRST. Dot warned Drake several times before stooping to his level. All Cole had to do was keep it a lyrical battle and Dot woulda kept it lyrical with him as well. He wouldn’t have lost anybody. Cole is implying he himself woulda got personally disrespectful. Which doesn’t need to be implied because that’s exactly what he did on 7 minute drill. Which again, he sent out first. 4. Nobody was going to die. He keeps trying to force this narrative to pretend he not pussy. That’s like a person always running the mouth. Then when you catch up with them they start screaming “y’all trying jump me” when you want a 1o1. And anytime you are mentioned they revert to that narrative of you trying to jump them. Even if you were by yourself or the crowd was full of strangers none of you knew. Eventually other people will take their side and say it too. Cole fans are pretending it was to avoid killing and hundreds of shootings and deaths. It was never going to be that. Cole built his career saying he was the best. He built his reputation saying he’d kill any rapper that came at him. The flunked the test. Now gets trying to rewrite history he established himself. That’s that white blood in him.

The new J. Cole song is good but that second verse is disingenuous as hell and hes sitting up there tryna rewrite history because he cant cope with the fact that he jumped off the porch into a beef that had quite literally nothing to do with him and he ended up with egg on his face.. Cole the same dude who said on the song 'January 28th' "You might be Drizzy Drake or Kendrick Lamar but check the birth date nigga, you aint the God.. Nigga Cole the God" but gets offended when Dot says "Mf the big three, nigga its just big me"? 'Like That' was a song aimed at Drake, nothing was said about Cole.. This man gets gassed up and drops a diss song towards someone who he says is a "brother" and then when he comes to his senses and realizes how foolish it was he says sorry and backs out before any of Kendrick's real disses even came out.. He says on this song people are clout chasing but he's literally the definition of a clout chaser for making yet another song about a beef that had nothing to do with him.. J Cole did this same thing when he made an entire commentary about Noname on "Snow On The Bluff", when he dissed Wale and Kanye on "False Prophets", and when he dissed Lil Pump and all the other SoundCloud rappers of the time on "1985" When he gets confronted about making songs about people he coulda just called up on the phone he always backs down and apologizes or says it wasnt a diss towards the person.. J. Cole is one of my favorite rappers of all time but its clear he's a fake ass friend.. at least to certain people and he hides his flaws behind songs like this that paint him to be some introspective, noble, humble guy when he's literally doing the thing he's critiquing.. 🤷🏾♂️

Well... you don't get it. The internet has become SO hateful and the beef just made it worse. The beef was basically just two grown ass men snitchin on eachother with zero proof of anything, and people ate that shit up to the last crumb. Drake became the public scapegoat that the people so desperately needed apparently. All this beef did was make Drake and Kendrick fans even more fanancial, bigoted and insufferable. I respect Cole for seeing what kinda degeneracy it was about to devolve into and pulled the plug.

He acknowledges that he lost his chance to be seen as number 1 one but in doing so it set him free. He is not saying that it was because he is above or too enlightened to join.
