Belphegor had a few real bangers, but to me its more Death than black, at least when it comes to the guitarwork (is this even a word? don´t care). And Kanonenfieber lost all reputation for making his familymembers to like, share and comment his stuff just for the algorythms of social media. And after failing with this strategy to gain attention he just bought likes to get famous. Kanonenfieber is pure cringe.

Just remember some of these bands have been around for 30 years - I'd guess that whatever your frame of mind was when you were 20 yo is not the same when many of them are now near or over 50yo. Could also mention the evolution of computers and music making equipment, some even use ai to design their labels. I recall my old days of buying tapes at concerts and exchanging cd's at school to record them at home. To me as a hardcore BM fan, I think the whole anti-xtian phase has become a bit outdated, especially in Europe where we have a new wave of invasion of a religion on European grounds that none of these bands have yet dare to tackle in their albums for fear of?

I think you're spot on about almost all bands. Dimmu just grew old and got tired of the same desperate feeling behind basic black metal. If you think about it, even Burzum's last album is different, but still full of feeling. What Dimmu have done after the albums you mentioned, up to Eonian, is a testament of that. All the lyrics show their growth, their thought process, the themes that we think about as adults. The music is complex and involves so many elements. It's just that people don't really change or evolve and expect everything to stay the same.
