It sucks Vizzie just horrible. Angel dust has help me heal over my ex who sa me. I can't watch the poison episode a lot due to this. I do love the song because it's actually how I felt through that relationship. Again I hate who Vizz choose to story board it. I have mix feeling on it..

I got to say that I never noticed the queer coding or that they were trying until I heard the fits over it and frankly at a point I thought they should have just never tried to include it if they were scared of doing it. When it did happen, like with Shiro, it just felt thrown in and not authentic to the point it was painfully obvious it was there just for the views or slice of pie as you mentioned. It made me dislike it, and I was especially tired of the shipping wars. I don't care if characters are gay or queer in a show, but set it up right. I had to watch again because I didn't even feel like klance was coded at all and thought people just really wanted them together. I thought they were like two brothers bickering. I would have been happier with no romance at all in the show. I also agree there were some missed opportunities, but overall I enjoyed the show for what it was. Pidge is indeed the best girl!

I noticed that people tend to prefer the first sitcom they watch. I watched How I Met Your Mother first, and I loved it, but my girlfriend didn’t enjoy it as much. She watched Friends first, loved it, but I wasn’t a fan. I think it’s because these shows are often watched alone in the background, so we form a personal bond with whichever one we watched first-more than it has to do with the show’s quality.

As an Abuse Victim, the fact that Angel recovers that quickly and can just randomly stand up to Valentino is honestly straight up insulting. Whenever I went to my old home, I was living in CONSTANT fear that I'd run into him again. And to this day, I still am. I avoid that place at all costs. It's part of why my family moved to a new town in the first place. I haven't recovered after 3 years, but somehow, this guy just talks it out with someone he vents to while drunk and then whoop-dee-doo, it's all fine and dandy! Now he can stand up to his abuser with no fear whatsoever! CUZ THAT'S REALISTIC, RIGHT??? No. Just...no. I don't even hate the show, I actually enjoy some parts of it. It's a mess, but it's a mess that I enjoyed, but the show's portrayal of abuse was absolutely horrendous and straight up pissed me off.

Friends was the best sitcom of its era and HIMYM was the best sitcom of its era. Different eras, different times. Different focus on character development. I also like more HIMYM but this is just a video essay about why you like more HIMYM than Friends. In my opinion most of the points you make are subjective, if you can agree with the premise then you agree. I mean each show has its strengths and weakneses and clearly different objectives. For me the worst of HIMYM is the ending. Not even the alternate ending can fix the disaster. They set up so right and the pull the rug from you. Just evil. Friends ending it was very obvious, boring but it didn't make me mad. On the other hand Friends Rachel Ross relationship, while hilarious sometimes it was very very tiring at the end. Anyone preference usually boils down to which show you watched growing up.

9:16 That might have been what the media was pushing 20 years ago, definitely not the case now. To say that its more 'mature' to prioritize career over family is so idiotic in my opinion and unoriginal, as you are just propagating the agenda that is literally killing families and is the reason why the western civilization is not having enough children. Rachel literally had a child with Ross who she clearly loved. To say that she is 'immature' because she prioritised creating a proper family with people that actually love her instead of going to slave away for some company in another country compared to Robin who clearly has a lot of commitment issues and is a workaholic who just sleeps around without having any emotional connection to anyone is such a sad sad message...

I am primarily a Manga reader over an anime watcher, but I did watch the anime adaptation with my wife, while I am up to date on the Manga. The reason I absolutely adore this story is because how touching the family dynamic is. Being nearly 40yo seeing such a heartwarming story and the way the genuine humanity of both Loyd and Yor comes out naturally from 2 characters that are "fake" by trade just hits me in the feelings. But for the anime specifically, if I had to hazard a guess, I would say the main draw is Anya's spectacular voice acting by Atsumi Tanezaki: it is probably the only thing from the anime that is a positive over the Manga. In general I also have to note that Anya is the first time ever in 30 years of watching anime wherr a small child character not only doesn't fucking suck, but is actually great

>Watches the video >checks the release date >"4y ago" > decides to comment anyway, hoping it gets read somehow. 'Sup. While I was listening to the video my main thought was "I don't think he has seen Scrubs" so I checked your other videos and that would seem to be the case. So I am here to strongly suggest you check that show out as it is another take on the evolution of the Friends ensemble cast sit-com that ran at pretty much at the same time as HIMYM and it is, quite honestly (if you go in with the knowledge that season 9 was actually a spin off that kept the original show name because TV executives wanted to try and keep the audience) the perfect show. Also I suggest you pirate it rather than use modern streaming services because due to DMCA not being a thing when the show started on streaming services they had to change some of the music, and when these changes happen it feels jarring, though it might just be because I am used to the original

Here is the perfect ending: Show the scene where they are talking in the rain at the train station and fade to black. If you want put in the mother dying (because the scene with her crying at the thought if not being at her daughter’s Prom is a strong hint). But if you don’t kill her I would have put in a long version of the Intro song and then shown moments of their life together. The marriage (with the gang next to them), next to each other after the pregnancies etc. Perfect ending! It’s not about „what I did with your mother and how we live“ but how he met her in the first place.

I hated Robin initially especially because Ted was this good guy who sacrificed all for her. But growing up and watching this every year for 10yrs, I see Robin did grow. She went from this person who is afraid to be vulnerable to be someone who is and gets hurt multiple times but doesn’t stop opening herself up. She didn’t like or want kids at the start but by the end she loves them and while she’s unsure of having one of her own so it doesn’t derail her career, she has a much better relationship with kids. She is emotionally distant from her father as she narrated when they were under the table in the restaurant but grows up and stands up to him, by the end of the show, she’s now closer to him. She prioritizes her career first at the beginning of the season but as she progressed, she still valued her career strongly but put love above it at several points. She came in trying to find a footing in news reporting and despite her many setbacks, she achieved so much due to her resilience and refusal to let anyone take this away from her. Ted does love Robin…. Or at least his idea of Robin. He knows what she wants from the jump but always tries to change her without wanting to change or compromise himself (he did the same to Victoria btw). He professes his love when she’s at her most vulnerable and constantly love bombs her without committing to the reality of what it means to be with her even though the thing that stands in their way is still there.

Bro…. The creators of FRIENDS DIDN’T WANT a dark sitcom, they explain this in audio commentary of the DVD box sets. They wanted a sitcom you could watch and laugh at, not one that deals with heavy topics. They were never going to treat death or heartbreak as a soul crushing storyline because that’s exactly what they did not want. The only story that was treated with any level of heavy emotions was the Ross/Rachel breakup and that’s only because the audience had become very attached to the pair. Also the only reason HIMYM had their stories so far planned out is because they had FRIENDS as a blueprint to map out their show with. Your biggest issue with FRIENDS is that it was a comedy instead of a dramedy. And that’s why fans love FRIENDS, that’s why it’s a comfort show. That’s why it’s a popular show to watch when you’re depressed or feeling extreme anxiety. That’s like you disliking the show Seinfeld for not having a plot when that’s literally the intent.

I’m glad you made the point about Lily being psycho. She’s actually the worst offender in HIMYM and is the problem in her own marriage when they end up fighting over moving to France. Because at every turn she follows what she wants and Marshall helps her the best he can but when Marshall does something to benefit himself and his kid that makes Lily’s short term dream of living in France impossible they fight and act like what he did was wrong and that bringing up that she left him and moved across the country is water under the bridge and he’s beating a dead horse

It is really interesting to me to hear the perspective of somebody younger who discovered HIMYM before Friends. I grew up in the 90's, Friends was one of the biggest shows on TV, everybody knew about it even if they didn't watch it. I grew up with Friends, then much later, in my 20's, discovered HIMYM and immediately realized it was the better version of Friends, felt much more like a real group of people that hung out. I would not be surprised of the majority of people who say they prefer Friends over HIMYM haven't watched it in years. Friends really hasn't aged well, and they weren't made that far apart, HIMYM came out the year Friends ended.

Oh god how do I put this into words. I'm AFAB, struggling a lot with gender. I love so many feminine things and the idea of being a man has always repulsed me because I would have to leave behind my dresses and stuffed animals and sweets and friendliness. But No One has ever seen me as less womanly just because I don't shave, or act assertive sometimes. I'm starting to unweave the threads of my life right now. I have only ever been surrounded by cis and baby trans people, pre-HRT or still questioning. So when I am not being explicitly gendered as a girl I have been surrounded by people still building social frameworks. It can lead to Very Intentional pronoun usage that doesn't feel natural, even if it is more gender-affirming than my parents. It can make me feel stupid for wanting to be a man that is like a woman. I've never said that before, wow. I want to be a man. I've never even realized that before, that I can be a man who is the version of me that is a man. I don't need to become a frat bro or a gym rat or a football fan, I can be the man who is a bit clueless and good at math, the man who is kinda blunt and has strong opinions but wants you to feel safe and included, I want to be the man that is like a woman because I still wear dresses but like a man would. I want to be a man! God it was there all along. I hope I finally found it this time. Jesus, sorry for the fucking mental breakdown in the middle of an actually coherent comment. I think my egg just cracked.

You need to understand that the majority of the population have a lower IQ. And Friends isn’t a smart show. It’s straight forward, simple, typical TV. HIMYM on the other hand is a little more intellectual. It’s smart and crafty. Its episodes are written and interwoven in a clever and stylish way. There isn’t a single episode or string of episodes in Friends that can be compared to HIMYM.
