I started with 3 pound clubs because that was hat was given to me. A really nice pair of solid oak clubs that compliment kettlebell training perfectly and make my shoulders feel amazing. I swing them between sets and on my off days and my shoulders and back feel better than they have in years.

It's great to hear that the 3lbers worked for you, I prepared this video for newcomers to Indian Clubs who often scoff at the light weights used.

Oh yeah, people don't realize that they're not like conventional exercise equipment and that a three pound club will beat your ass if you aren't used to the movements. I had a friend of mine who trains with dumbbells use them and he said they were working muscles he didn't even know he had. I think 1-2 pounds is the ideal starting weight for most people, especially if they're new to unconventional training and movement patterns.

I started with 250 gr tear drop style, and after I have increased my clubs weight. It had improved my technique and my shoulder mobility

Hi Nicola, Starting light has great benefits because you allow yourself to develop your technique. Thanks for your comment.

Damn I straight bought 15pounds and watching videos to train with them. I am holding it nearer to the. Base to make it easier and move further and further as I get more stronger wrist movement

Very helpful information, thanks. I started with 2.65k clubs, 22 inches long, and have made pretty good progress with the larger swings but the finger-and-thumb wrist rolls are really hard to do smoothly because, I think, the club weight and length is too much for the hand, certainly at this stage.. I'm going for some old 500 gramme ones now, to get those speedy, light spins of the clubs with finger and thumb.

Paul Taras Wolkowinski thanks for your fast answer Paul but do you also experienced muscle gain with a certain club weight?
@Wolkowinski8 жыл бұрын
You will experience an increase in forearms and grip, great shoulder stability and mobility conditioning of the shoulder girdle. For muscle gain, nothing beats the classics like deadlifts, squats, and pressing.

Hey Paul, Is it possible to train solely with gada and/or medium to heavy meels? I'm hoping to keep it simple as possible, and was thinking of just focusing on different weights of gada, meels and kettlebells for swinging.
@Wolkowinski8 жыл бұрын
Hi Doloinc, I have trained with Indian Clubs, Persian Meels, Gada and Kettlebells for the last nine years. I like it because of the variety I get, I focus Monday, Wednesday and Friday with KB and Gada, Indian Clubs and Meels the other days. Give it a try, I find it works for me.

+Paul Taras Wolkowinski - I would love to experiment with everything at some point, but right now I'm limited to the amount of resources I can allocate toward purchasing equipment, specifically with regards to the Indian clubs. I can easily purchase the materials to make my own gada, heavy clubs and kettlebells, which is why I was interested in your opinion of starting primarily with gaga, medium-heavy clubs (limited to shoulder casts) and kettlebells until I can purchase some Indian clubs. If I can figure out a way to make my own Indian clubs, then I will definitely incorporate them at an earlier time

Wouldn't we all like to discover that our club is too long and too heavy!
