I work is a ware house that has a lot of stone dust drifting around. My d2 flipper looses it's edge very quickly. So I use the Gerber prybrid. Great little tool. Changing the inserts is a bit tough on the fingernails, but I feel comfortable knowing it'll never be an issue of falling out, or opening in my pocket. It's practically a must for me in my daily carry now.

I have bought most of these and settled on the Magnus SlideClick. It's the easiest one to use, best blade retention, and doesn't dull the blade on sliding in and out.

I work in a warehouse, and use the Gerber. I keep it in a small sheath from another knife. Its weight doesn't bother me. In fact, I like the fact I can feel the knife in my hand. One huge plus is that the pry bar doubles as a box opener. Any knife I don't have to actually open to open a box is a good one, in my books. It's also been dropped, accidentally thrown, and run over by a car. It's still in perfect working order.

TiRant Razor V2 is awesome! If anyone is on the fence about buying one.. just get it you won't regret it. On Amazon you can also buy a carbon fiber replacement front scale which I haven't swapped out just yet just because I'm loving the titanium.. in fact I think I'm going to buy another TiRant V2 that I'm gonna put the carbon fiber scale on, swap out the lanyard backspacer for the pry and use upgraded sk-2 utility blades. Thanks Taylor for your previous utility knives video and this one.. I just may have to get my hands on a TPT slide or perhaps even the Gil-Tek.. Tirant Razor-M is also option.. I may be developing a utility knife addiction which is weird but far less costly than my knife collecting habits.. lol.

the thing about EDC trapezoid box cutter offerings is that I'm using them on paper or abusing them when I'm not carrying or "carrying" (pun) about my normal rig, maybe in an office setting where I don't want to get my tried and true all gummed up on some cardboard tape (yes you already know) or using the blade to cut hosing surgically in a small spot or I'm cutting up something like fishing line where I just need to use it once and put it away, for that purpose I prefer the TI designs TI pocket tool (the OG that doesn't slide). Preferable to the other candidates because it excels in it's niche, it's slimmer than the other offerings and disappears in my billfold, it's easy to open and if I need a bigger tool there's one near by, and best of all I never worry about it opening, I wouldn't bet the broadway on this tool taking more than 20 lbs of stress without wear but for that case the conventional box cutters have that in spades

I have one made by Axial that is super light and small that I like but I don’t think it’s available anymore. It is one hand slide action, no tools to exchange the blade. It only extends a short distance but for opening boxes and packaging it is great.

was tired of carrying around bulky pocket knife just for doing minimal tasks( mainly box opening). Don't think you realize how many times you use a knife for open packages on the daily. Switched over to a micro utility blade and won't look back. If I were out hunting or camping i would def cary something bigger, none the less its nice being able to reach into a pocket easily without a bigger knife taking up space.

Kudos to Gilk-Tek for remembering that us lefties also use utility knives! It always feels difficult to find a nice utility knife that works well and feels good in the hand. Currently using a Milwaukee Fast Back 6-in-1, but had to remove the pocket clip as it would dig into my hand when using. Though the easy action of it definitely makes up for it.

Sorry for the paragraph. If you read it all you a goat. I carry the gerber prybrid and it's only because I don't see a reason to buy a utility knife for more than 20 bucks and I need a kinda beefy one cause I work in a warehouse and I'm cutting boxes out all day and dropping it and could possibly run it over with a forklift. And I have had multiple and its rather I loose it or someone takes it because it's a good utility knife. From what I've seen a lot of people would deal with the weight for usability and I agree. I've had the gerber eab and the eab lite for years and I used those because they never failed me and when I used those I worked in a receiving area and and I also used it when I was in a produce department and people that used that and the prybrid when it came out loved both. I bought one for my coworker and he still uses it. He actually lost it and asked me for the Amazon link because he liked it so much

I wish someone would make an OTF utility knife. It’d be a total gimmick knife, but as someone who uses a utility knife I’d get a kick out of it. And since utility knives always have blade play anyways it wouldn’t be a big issue.
@Jeckyl723 жыл бұрын
Check out a microtech Socom Elite Auto or manual I know it’s not OTF like the trodons or the Utx 85 ( pretty nice ) , but it’s really good for a knife that can be used for harder tasks . Snap-off utility knife with wheel lock can be locked tightly so there will be no blade play. The only drawback is that you can't get the blade out quickly but most people who are used to using snap-off knives are able to turn the lock and slide the blade out with just one hand in a fairly short time.

Backing the maker knife is a pretty big regret. Even with threadlock it was difficult to get the detents right and to get them to stay where you set them. It felt really finicky and the detents would slowly loosen until the blade can just fly open without pressing out with your finger. You could set the detent with some red threadlock and permanently lock that detent in there but then you cant service it later.

The Tirant razor v2 has been in my pocket since I got it in the first batch of 100 or so made and its is an amazing addition to my daily work carry. I went on a long journey over 5 years searching for the perfect utility knife and honestly the Tirant has out performed them all and at a very reasonable price. I am now a collector of utility knives, theres a few Ill never own because of price/function being underwhelming for what I want them for, I did get a CHUB that was my daily carry for nearly a year that made it so I HAD to get the flipper, due to its price it may just live on my desk or for non work carry though. Maker knife is the best I've ever had hands down! As for the opening in your pocket issue, tighten it down a bit and it'll be fine :) I carry mine in a pocket all the time and have done since the kickstarter launch!

I almost backed it back on kickstarter....and then didn't. Dunno why and I regret it now.

@@iambobwhoru honestly one of the best things I've backed! I love I've! I've bought three so far, gave1 to my partner, 1 to a close friend and my one gets used all the time. I need to take it apart for a good clean soon.

You guys in the states are so lucky, I had a look on Amazon UK and not a single one of these knives is available here.

The tirant flipper and the tpt slide seem to be my favorites so far maybe the tirant first cuz I like a full hand grip on my gear but I like how small it packs down

And, it has extra blade length!

Lol! The prices of these things 🤣🤣🤣. I'm sure these will come in handy when you need to open an Amazon box. . .

I’m sure those are all nice and stuff. But I am married to the Milwaukee Fast Back and they have a small version the size of a Spyderco.

You said you wouldn’t be able to change the blade on the last one but that implies you carry spare razor blades with you at all times

Love the tpt slide. I actually get a lot of use out of the pocket clip. I find my pockets rather full so I clip it to my belt
