@SillySherriProductions Жыл бұрын
I was injured by one used by a chiropractor! He put it on a high setting at the top of my neck on the right side, again and again. I told him it hurt a little, but he said he was trying to move the axis. Months later, my right arm went paralyzed! I got an MRI and had developed a lesion on the spinal cord! He gave me complimentary lazer therapy, but it didn't help. I stopped going to him. With time and other treatments, it improved. But 13 years later, my hand still goes numb.

I am a security officer who walks between 15 to 20 miles in a 24 hour period and the Q2 does wonders on my legs. Calves in particular are usually so stiff and sore the day after a shift, and I honestly feel better after 20 mins on my legs. I do feel pain (soreness) initially using the massager but I keep it at level 1 and then go to level 3 after a few minutes.

slept on my neck weirdly and it hurt for days, I used the massager lightly from the back of my head to just under my ear, not going near the arteries in the front. after about 20 minutes whatever was messed up worked out and I could finally pop my neck. risky but I tried everything else up to that point to no avail

I am guilty of some of these. I used it all around my jaw and head for clenching and I actually lost most of the hearing in one ear for about three days and it slowly came back. I also dug it deep into the piriformis and around the pelvic bones and am now going for physio, for inflammation from overdoing it. It became very sore all of a sudden too, after using it too vigorously for a week. Keep off boney areas unless using the soft head.

I definitely disagree with the abdominal area. I have a ton of postpartum adhesions from my pregnancy 2 years ago, and I cannot build core strength for the life of me. I whipped out my TheraGun before a Pilates workout, and lo and behold, I cranked out roll ups and planks like they were nothing. I did the same workout less than a week later without massaging first, and I had a lot more trouble.

Yeah be very careful in the neck area. I used a Theragun around my neck and I don't know if I hit an artery or something and I swear I had an irregular heartbeat for a couple of minutes and then it went back to normal. These companies should provide better warning about areas to avoid.

A couple of months ago, I somehow hurt my neck SO badly that I was constantly in tears and afraid to move. Went to a massage therapist and a chiropractor in the same day…and the only thing that made the pain go away was the massage gun the chiropractor used. She used the two pronged attachment. I immediately bought a massage gun in case that ever happens again. So…I dunno.

I get tons of relief and no issues using an air head tip on the jaw joints, and the rear sides & top of the neck, and all around the skull - places you clearly advise against. Now I'm confused as to why not. Working these spots are the main reason I have this gun. Now What?

I just bought a $120-$160 version of the Bob and Brad gun, and I do go on the neck, but only the sides and lower traps with the air cushion. I also notice on the arm, anytime there's a huge vibration, it's probably a bone. So I definitely don't go too far up the arm. Thank you for reiterating a lot of the dangers of this tool. As useful as it is, it can be problematic.

Solid & 💯% accurate advice! I’m a big fan of massage guns for most people, but there are definitely some important scenarios like the ones you highlighted where they shouldn’t be used. I would add that if someone is taking blood thinners, is pregnant, or has any issues like thrombosis they should also avoid using a massage gun.

I have a form of fibromyalgia and even before that, tried just about every modality from Tai Chi, Piloga, yoga, you name it. For my money, the most promising program I’ve found that keeps my body feeling loose and releases all the tension and heals the fascia is Essentrics (the long running PBS show). Most massage therapists would probably agree, as I’ve found, DIY massage and especially aggressive massagers can often cause more harm than good to our fascia and connective tissue.

Oh no I always use my massage gun on my neck! My shoulders and neck hurt all the time. My grandmother bought me a heated Triducna back and neck wrap around massager. It did a pretty good job of alleviating the pain in my neck and shoulders, but I only got to use it a handful of times before the Plastic massage apparatus broke through the mesh, twisted up into my hair. I had a handful of hair twisted up in that massage machine that I had to cut to get the massager off of my head. I feel badly that she spent $60 on that thing that I only got to use a few times. unfortunately, the company doesn’t have a phone number listed, which is not a good sign. I emailed them and I’m waiting to hear back..

So0mething else. A lot of people think the highest setting is the best to use. Often a lower setting will give better relief over a larger area even if it takes longer. I find the high settings on some of these more painful than helpful. I want the muscles to relax of their own accord, not be beaten into submission.

I don't have a bullet gun, just one of those massage guns that only vibrates. Do the same rules apply? It does vibrate pretty strongly. I use it on the side of my neck and shoulder to relieve the chronic pain I have there. Sometimes I do get the base of my skull which is really uncomfortable as it feels like my skull is getting rattled around. I have noticed the past two nights a really weird ringing in my right ear after I'm done. I'm deaf and already have tinnitus, but it's usually a steady long beep/whistle sound. After I massage my neck, it sounds like a tech machine that's messing up and making weird tech noises. It goes away eventually, but it does concern me. I want to stop using my massage gun just in case, but when the chronic pain causes migraines, numbness and tingling and weakness down the shoulder and arm, and just lots of pain, any form of relief is heaven. (FYI I have a tear in my C6/7 disc which is where all the pain and symptoms originate from. But massaging the side of my neck and shoulder relieves the symptoms so I can function.)

Speaking from experience, massage guns too close to the spine make my head feel like it’s going to explode… too much vibration too high frequency and amplitude. You guys should invent one that has a low frequency impulse like the chiropractic IQ impulse tool and a softer massage tip. That would be awesome for home massage therapy.
