Did 120rep with a 18kg kettlebell. Multiple hand switches(6-9) but a good technique does matter first. January challenge: every day 10 minutes snatch and 200 reps at the end of the month.

These are sport style snatches right? Would you modify it for hardstyle?

I still work on my snatch, can I do clean and press instead? By the way great workout as always thank you very much.

Why not clean & press, then a snatch down from the top of the press?

Does the KB Snatch work more muscles than the KB Swing?

I'm currently working on this. I'm working on my hand endurance, which is the hardest part for me at the moment. I'm currently using this as my warmup to my heavy sets. I'm doing one minute switches, twenty swings per minute, for six minutes. I'm using a 15 to18 kg for this and working my way up. For my heavy single sets I use either 22 kg or 23 kg, focusing on H2H, press and again snatch, for a six minute uninterrupted round. And finally I am also doing the full armor complex with two 22 kg for seven emom sets. Currently doing this two to four times a week. Depends on what else I work on with my Muay Thai students.

I'm kind of curious of how effective is the snatch, would that be it to train the entire body with only one exercise? would this work for hypertrophy?
@lebe-stark15 күн бұрын
It's an exercise that touches base on all physical qualities. I wouldn't consider it a pure "hypertrophy" exercise though. Once you've wrapped your head around proper technique, the Snatch becomes more and more and endurance-based exercise.

I still can't do a 10-minute straight snatch (no matter how many hand changes) but I can do at least 3 minutes. But I like the snatch, it's a powerful exercise, and I'll keep working on it. I do 100 - 120 snatches (with 16 kg KB) after my normal 24 - 30 minute circuit routine. I hope in 3 - 4 months I'll be able to do 10 minutes.

I have just started my journey with kettlebell sport but my biggest question at the beginning is whether I will ever be able to do 5 minutes straight one-arm with the 16kg. That would be an extreme increase in performance. But maybe it is one of the special features of this sport that you can achieve it. I will probably follow the pro tips for programming and tackle the long distance with the 12kg first. At the moment I do it in intervals with 2 min. rest between 5, 4, 3 min. @16kg but I can only do it with several switches.

@@justsayin-0o I don't know your sex, age, weight, fitness background etc and i am not the coach. Gregory knows BETTER. What did I have done? I started slowly, with patience and i did not skip workouts. Always i do (at least) 4 workouts per week. A year ago, i couldn't do 2' of H2H swings with a 12 kg kettlebell. But i don't miss Gregory's videos. Now i can do Gregory's circuits (4 x 6 min) and a finisher of 100 - 120 half snatch, snatch etc. with a 16 kg. And of course almost always 30 burpees (6-Pump, Navy SEALs style etc). It's a journey. Step by step. Give your body the chance to adapt.

@ I have experience from decades of more or less unbroken training in strength and endurance sports. No it is my goal to do Kettlebell sport „till the end“. I am not aiming at weightlifting 1RM records anymore. But I do a work out not more than every second day - never too much but always high intensity. Girevoy fits well into this concept. Yet I have already found out that I tend to underestimate the intensity and I am prone to overdo it, being highly motivated and feeling the snatch flow. I would say the perceived exhaustion level is relatively low during the workout in comparison to other activities with the load distributed so evenly over the whole body - witn the hands being the limiting parameter. In the start phase my focus is on the technique and I am only playing around. Serious programming will follow after the initial phase of settling in.

I’ve observed many athletes performing the kettlebell snatch, and I've noticed that most of them don't lift their heels. I'm curious-why do you lift your heels while performing the kettlebell snatch? It seems like an interesting technique.
@lebe-stark16 күн бұрын
Almost all athletes I know lift their heels. It‘s a technique to add more upper body leverage.

@SebaStian-u4h1c15 күн бұрын
Thank you! I’m looking for a good balance between my intensities in endurance training and kettlebell workouts. Many workouts you find are very high-intensity, which of course impacts endurance training.
@lebe-stark15 күн бұрын
It all comes down to your level of conditioning - your overall fitness. For example, you can start with a light-weight snatch and aim for a pace of 10-12 reps per minute (RPM). It’s similar to marathon running: the more you practice and adapt to the movement, the easier it becomes to find a sustainable pace without overloading your system.

Absolutely love your videos Gregory, and you're the reason I'm into kettlebells now. But this is confusing. I believe it's the 6th snatch 10 min workout and it looks like spam if you ask me. I get it, snatch is the best, but what's the point in uploading the same workout over and over again? Please at least mark them as snatch workout, don't want to miss a new great 10 min workout.
@lebe-stark16 күн бұрын
This isn’t the same workout! it’s progress. I started with 16kg, moved up to 22kg, and I’m on my way to 32kg, documenting every step of the journey. If you mistake my hard work for “spam,” you’re not just insulting me - you’re disrespecting the grind, brother. 💙

@@lebe-stark I meant no offense. You're my favourite kettlebell guru! I didn't get this series that's all, which is more like your workout journal, and not for everyone to follow. Probably that's because of the misleading titles. Happy for your progress btw

Always feel free to speak your mind on this channel. I don't consider this title misleading. It's a 10 minute workout, that can whip you into shape in no time if you do it on a regular basis.
