You must be using number available on internet which seems to be originated from the following research article. Energy cost and cardio respiratory changes during the practice of Surya Namasakr Authors : B. SINHA, U. S. RAY*, A. PATHAK AND W. SELVAMURTHY Journal - Indian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology 2004, 48 (2), page number : 184-190 Link - ijpp.com/IJPP%20archives/2004_48_2/184-190.pdf This article can be downloaded for free and it is easy to read. In this article the authors report that the calories burned during one set of surya namaskar which includes 12 asanas is 13.83 Kcal. For this one set the time taken was 3.66 minutes. The authors also mentions time spend and calories burned during each asana. So when we mention that the calories burned during one set of Suryanamaskar is 13.9 Kcal, we should also mention that the time taken was 3.66 minutes. So to perform 108 sets the time taken will be approximately 395 minutes i.e. 6.5 hours. (or 13 hours depending what you call as "one set of surya namaskar") If we change the time taken for doing one set of suryanamaskar, will the calories burned be same? I don’t think so. Suppose one performs one set of surya namskar in 1 minutes or in 30 sec the calories burned will be different and so an independent scientific research is required to be done for such cases. So when we mention that the calories burned during one set of Suryanamaskar is 13.9 Kcal, we should also mention that the time taken was 3.66 minutes. The number of calories burned may also change with the weight of the person and time taken in each asana.
