Just found your channel. I also have a less common combo truck (1978 f250 frame, 1967 f100 short bed body) just swapped in 12v/nv4500/np205…thanks for sharing!

Sounds like a cool truck! As cool as normal restorations are I love the unique projects even more! Why did you decide to go with the 78 frame? How did everthing line up? Any engine work done to the 12V?

@@barnbuiltbeaters Frame swapped my 2wd f100 30+ years ago, needed a 4wd truck for hunting. On a Ford the easiest way is to frame swap. The cab alignment was ok, the bed mounting width not so much. The f250 donor had twin Dana 60’s F/R and a T18/Np205. Kept the 390 in the f100, the rest running gear was from the 78. Hunted with that truck ever since, but the body is now really rough so last year decided to make it more presentable after the 390 flat spotted the cam, currently doing a frame off. (Started as a 12v swap!) A sane man would get another body, but too much history with it. The 12v is basically stock (governor/valve springs, pump turned up, etc), frame is now a roller again, all running gear of the new version is bolted in. Next will be body work, least favorite part…but it’s only going to be a driver!

@@divadyrdnalwow sounds awesome and like a lot of work. I've done little bits of body work and it does suck. I wish I was better at it. I also want to learn to paint too!

this was a job for mig or stick welding,

Probably would have been easier with MIG but I dont have a MIG machine. Stick welding is farm welding imo. TIG is capable of anything which is why I learned it. Have yet to learn MIG but on my to do list!
