@Campingdownunder

The top row of lights is showing what type of battery the charger has detected. If you switch the battery box if the charger continues to look for the battery type but the power has been disconnected so it will just flash on the top row until you turn it on again. You don't need to turn it off though if nothing is plugged in & draining the battery just leave it on like I do. The side lights indicate where the charge is coming from and the bottom row of lights show what stage the charger level is on depending on how discharged the battery is

The solar regulator can handle a maximum of 25amps. Yes if you can find a bigger battery that fits in the box it will be fine. But you'll lose the display function as the display plugs directly into the battery and other batteries won't have the plug needed. For just an extra 20 amp's I wouldn't bother

Not that I'm aware of. But if you need more than 120ah of lithium then I'd suggest you need a custom 12v system made up. Unless you intend to run a lot of induction cookers, coffee machines & microwaves then 120ah is all the average person needs for their setup. Rather than having multiple batteries it's sometimes best to look into solar to keep you going when your pulled up somewhere for more than a few days since the alternator won't be charging the battery because your not moving

Most people only need a 100W inverter, to the charge laptop, drone and camera batteries, so, why isnt it built in ? I have a small liFe power station that has 120W - usb fast chargers, 2 lights, for 1/6th the cost. Sure, it has tiny capacity... but, the point is, at the very budget end of the market ($300) they can throw in a (square wave) inverter, why cant a $2k unit have one ? Btw, square wave inverters are fine for 'sensitive electronics' (Technical speciallist, electronics here). The very first thing your laptop or drone batterry charger does with the ac mains, is to convert it (rectify) to from 240v ac to 360v dc, and smooth the remenant ac ripple. The input circuitry does not particulary care about the shape of the wave (as long as the peak voltage is not too high), as it is all smoothed out b4 the next stage - the switching stage, that literally chops that dc up and pulses a small isolation transformer. The now ac out of the tranformer at this stage is then rectified to dc, and filtered for the final output. This is why your laptop charger is rated for 90v to 250v, and 50 or 60hz input - the charger does not care. Pretty much all 'sensitive electronics' input power stages are built this way. I have no problem charging my $2k laptop from a cheap inverter for that reason. Counter intuitively, it is the simple low tech devices that use induction motors that will run hotter with a quare wave. However, if you are powering a fan, dont worry, the fan is self cooling.
@Campingdownunder
@Campingdownunder 2 жыл бұрын
Not many people camping need to charge laptops like I do. Most people are happy to just be able to charge their phone and run their fridge for the entire time they are camping. This is designed for people that don't go camping every weekend or travel full time touring. This is aimed at a particular market. I have done reviews on power stations in the past with a built-in 2000w inverter

@@Campingdownunder that sucks, no one in their right mind wants a commercial premade battery unless its a PowerQueen or something similar Edit: looks like just the box and all the accessories is $300 USD which is where I expected it to be. Figure they are making a solid $100 on it, probably more when buying all the parts in large qty. If I had to offer them any constructive criticism it would be A. Do a model with XT90/XT60 and do a model with anderson PowerPoles. Maybe not the Power Poles since that kind of overlaps with the original product but I think XT90's and 60's are so standard throughout the world that it would make sense. B. Ditch the dinosaur USB A plugs for USB C. You can do a USB A + USB C socket that is QC3.0 on the A port and 20W PD on the C port. They even make sockets now that do 60W or 65W USB PD and they're only $17. Its a USB A QC3.0 plus a USB C PD 65W and I think you can use both at the same time because it claims to rated for 83 watts which would be 65 on the C and 18 on the A? Can be found cheaper on Ali. 65W is enough to charge most USB C laptops as well.
