Thanks for your generosity with these yoga lessons. You have inspired me to start yoga again at 63. I will be taking it very easy with just the stretches for starters. My back is bad so I am looking forward to this one and others. The choice through your program would not allow for monotony and boredom. Yours is the best program on youtube.

My son was so happy to help with the closing of the class...my older son wanted to join too but he was playing at the park and missed it. Look for him soon though! Yes, we've been blessed with beautiful weather...I don't know that I could live anywhere else...I'm totally spoiled!

Leslie I love your classes I swear by you!!! I am a dancer and i do one every single day to warm up for class! I was hoping you might do a class to stretch the calves?? I often find that downward dog doesn't quite get the gastroc and soleus sufficiently!! Thank you Leslie! xoxo

Thank you! I inherited very stiff hamstrings from my dad so this was much needed. I also needed short because I started grad school this week and not much time in the mornings before rushing to class! But so so necessary. And hey interesting that you grew up somewhere cold and moved to good weather. I'm the opposite (dumb)!

I took a week break from yoga and afterwards I felt like my hamstrings were very tight - probably all the walking or something! It's weird because I'd never felt it before, so this was really good to stretch them out some. Thank you x

Oh Lesley I loved this!! I was wondering if you could do a short video like this for opening shoulders? Also, I bought the Manduka black mat pro after your recommendation and I'm finding it quite slippy! Is that because it needs breaking in?? Thank you!

Annie Cheadle Thank you so much...yes, a shoulder video like this is a great idea...thank you! Yes, the Manduka Pro Mat is slippery for a bit. When I first got mine, I bought a "rosen" bag from the a sporting goods store. It's a little bag filled with chalk that baseball pitchers use or your can buy climbing chalk. If you put a little on your hands and feet, you won't slide and after a while you won't need it anymore. :-)

Hello Lesley, Thanks for this great video. I have always had problems with my short (and tight) hamstrings and i'm doing these poses every morning now. I am a little confused though. I recently also followed a yoga class from an experienced Iyengar yoga teacher but he instructed us to do this pose while moving from a bent a knee as apposed to keeping the leg straight like you suggest (In the very first pose in this video) So whats best to do? Thanks so much.

+Steven el Kajjal Thank you so much for your message. Yes, the Iyengar tradition is wonderful and there are different ways of practicing the poses. I think if you keep your knees bent, you might be able to move in a little more deeply. If you keep the knee bent of the leg that's on the floor, you may be able to get into the hamstring of the extended leg a little more deeply. I think the best way to practice is the the way that feels best in your body. Because your hamstrings are short and tight, this pose might serve your better keeping your legs bent for a little while until your hamstrings begin to lengthen. :-)

Hi Leslie. Thank you so much for this class. I have recently been told by my doctor that my hamstrings are similar to the ones of a 80 year-old, though I'm 27. I decided to do this work out everyday for at least one month to see if I can improve a little (it's day 2!). My question is: when you pull up your legs, should I bend mine or keep them straight as high as I can, even though that would be only a few centimeters from the floor? And when you stand up and reach your feet with your hands, again should I bend my knees to reach my feet or just put my hands on my knees, which is the most I can do with my legs straight? I hope I was clear :) Thanks a lot again!
