My first husband complained that I never asked him how his day was. I (INTJ) assume that everything is ok unless you tell me differently. I'm also not interested in giving someone an excuse to vent. I can't do anything about someone else's work problems, so I don't really want to hear it; it just winds me up for no reason. Pointless. I also assumed that when he asked me how MY day was, it was just form because he really didn't care, at all. Not one bit. So why should I ask him back? With my second husband, I do ask him back, but his stories are more interesting and he actually (at least appears) to care how my day went. Reciprocity.

I gotta admit, as an ISTP I've never had either the courage nor the outright rudeness to simply say to a stranger, "you don't need to talk" LOL - but I wish I had many, many times. instead always just had to frown and bear it for as little as possible, speaking as little as possible hoping they'll get disinterested or take the hint. Personally as an ENFJ, when I meet someone for the first time, I automatically consciously or unconsciously start studying them and I try to analyse their emotional mood or atmosphere. I am very sensitive to someone's mood. That includes someone not wanting to talk or open up about deep stuff. I can pick up on that very fast (FeNi) without too many words and I will definitely back off! I also have a certain pull towards introverts or the quietest person in the room. And I just sit quietly next to them. My Fe can easily mimic someone else's mood while my Ni (usually unconsciously not with a deliberate plan) analyses the non-verbal subtle gestures. On the surface, I am usually just minding my own business and probably reading a book or looking at the view of the place while the person-analysis goes on in the background of my mind. And more often than not, the person will open to me ON THEIR OWN, even the introverts and even people I may not want to talk to. I believe it is my automatic unconscious FeNi mimicking of someone's mood.

INTP: This is so true. I remember going to my brother's wedding; so many people asked me to dance. They wouldn't take no for an answer, one of them even tried to physically drag me on to the dance floor. I wasn't having any of it. Then, toward the end of the evening the bride smiled sweetly at me and asked as politely as she good. My inferior Fe kicked in I guess, not wanting to turn down such a polite request. Everyone who knew me started laughing, and my sister began to film it. I couldn't make anyone understand that dancing in public is physically and emotionally unpleasant for me. After one song I had to leave and spent the next twenty minutes in a quiet corner, trying not to be sick.

see this is why I love being an ENFP because i can not dance- but also i don't pick up on when i'm either "being embarrassing" or just don't feel embarrassed (until inferior Si sets in later and then I overthink every detail and then critical Fe joins in which is always fun lol)- which i guess is how we can act to seemingly weird- we get wrapped up and don't see it from an outside perspective. Like i have defiantly pretended to be on an advert before (and my istj mum and friend tbh have both told me to stop). Anyways back to what you were saying- perpetual Fe trap sounds like it sucks- for me Fe comes out in a Te way so it's like "this is the correct thing to do at a wedding"- and chances are I'm the first one on the dance floor and then about 20 minutes later i'm in the corner having a philisophical convo with whatever intuitive introvert i've found. Anyway I was trying to relate your situation to one of mine to empathise so sorry about the rambling. I’m sorry that happened people need to be more respectful of your boundaries. Maybe you could develop a signal that you need to get out of the situation. Or you could find a way to ease your own anxiety in the moment until you find a way out. Or find an extrovert to take over. I love how when I’m trying to give the Fe response it still comes out in a Te way

This made me so irritated to read :(( I actually (shockingly) don’t like dancing at certain types of parties either despite the social pressure. I’m so sorry that happened 😤

It's funny because everyone who isn't defective is supposed to enjoy dancing and having other people laugh at their discomfort! ...Ugh. I don't understand why that sort of thing is socially acceptable. If it wasn't the wedding of a close family member, I would have seriously considered making the kind of scene that would have perpetually been the number one feature of every guest's memory of the wedding.

@@Meg_intheclouds Having Fe as a stressor, coupled with Ti and Ne as the two leading functions leads to incredible self-consciousness. Things like dancing in public make me rely on Fe-inf, but my two leading functions are aware that I have no idea what I'm doing and begin to catastrophise every scenario in my head. Debating in public doesn't have this effect on me despite my self-consciousness, because Ti feels comfortable and in control. I know what I'm doing in a debate, but I just feel like a fool when I dance, so I avoid it; which is why everyone was amazed when I finally gave in. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to realise how sensitive I was about it. All of that was a few years ago now, so I'm a bit more assertive these days. Nowadays I'd just say no; no matter what anyone said to me. Si would whisper to Fe, "remember last time?"

This was *amazing* to watch :D I guessed the ENTP, ESFJ, INFJ, ENFJ and ISTJ ^^ I honestly thought ESTP was ISTP because they seemed more leaned back than partying hard and my ISTP sibling has this weird obsession with cake, so I couldn't get that out of my head XD I felt the INTP's struggle through the screen, OML, that would've made me so anxious T.T Why do INFPs always get either ignored or forgotten- I legit went to school on the first day after a vacation and all the other kids around me swore I had never come that day, like... As an ENTP, I have never done that, but I have been on the receiving end. My ESFP brother has several times told other people, my brother believes "x" is the best way to.... and I interject, I am like WTH, let me speak for myself. Seems like he is trying to do an argument from Ad Populum, as if he can't argue his point so needs to show other people agree. Something I have seen in Te users constantly, using "Appeal to authority" and or "Ad Populum" often. (the majority of experts agree with my point, or "x" expert can't be wrong because its an expert). If a view or argument is sound, should be able to be proven by itself. If you want to cite experts, show what they say, just the fact that experts "agree" with you shows nothing.The logic is what is important, not who said it. Even the most intelligent people, can be wrong, because everyone is wrong in something. And also, I never believe anything can be the best way for anything, Ne keeps me open to all possibilities and I would never marry to one thing. I give all ideas an equal chance, but I see pros and cons in everything, so i can never truly say this is the most/best whatever. But that is why I can argue from all angles, I give everything a chance, but I also can see the flaws in all views. But as always, it was a great video, you are pretty funny Kristin and seem pretty fun to hang with, would love to have an ESFP friend like you irl. And sorry for the essay, once I start I can't stop, lmao.
@farrex03 жыл бұрын
Unless, now that I thought about it further, the ENTP wanted to add the INFJ to the conversation. Let her express herself to the INTJ. That would be something I would do.. or also, just to troll her. Now for trolling I would definitely do that. For example, I knew she didn't like communism. So I will tell the INTJ, that she does, just to troll. Have done that kind of thing several times, lmao.
@dearkristin3 жыл бұрын
No worries, was interesting to read. I hope it was clear that the ENTP was being satirical 😅😅 funnily enough, as soon as you mentioned your ESFP brother doing this, I realise that I do the exact same thing. But it's got a completely different motivation - it has nothing to do with proving a point, testing logic or exploring. For me, when I do this, it is solely for the reaction of my friend whom I am throwing under the bus. Kind of like a prank. This is peak cognitive function differences at play. Same behaviour, different motives!
@farrex03 жыл бұрын
@@dearkristin LMAO, I can imagine, I will have to ask my brother for his reasons to do so and see if they line up with yours. But he can be quite a troll sometimes, and we do enjoy trolling each other. And yeah, I do love that about cognitive functions, seeing people act similarly but for drastically different reasons.
