So I've never the person to be like "I tried this and it was so amazing" but guys, I am actually impressed with this. Here's my HONEST review; I did almost everyting to the tea(in grams with a scale) I even used some hershey'sspecial dark cocoa. The only thing I didn't have was that exact sweetener, and I used about 80 something grams instead of 90 something. Oh and also I think mine was an 8x8 pan... It took longer than 18 minutes for me, every oven is different tho- So here's my thoughts. By itself, it really tasted like a brownie, shockingly. But it tasted so much better paired with some vanilla halo top icecream I could barely tell the difference from some regular brownies and icecream. For the brownie itself, I think I want to try the sweetener he used because you could kinda tell it was fakely sweetened. But don't get me wrong it still tastsed great. It's so cool to have a recipe that doesn't rely on well-tasting protein powder. BEST low-cal brownie recipe I've ever tried. I am going to make this again and also count the macros myself to see if I come out with the same numbers. I'll keep this comment updated :))

If you want an even more decadent brownie add 2 tbs of Bake Believe stevia chocolate chips and you only add 120 calories to the whole pan . Add the chips on top of the brownies as soon as you remove them from the oven and they melt into a thin glaze . You then spread it along the whole pan . Or mix the chips in the batter before baking .

For more volume you could use baking powder and also not incorporate the eggs whites with the mixer, but gently with a spoon in very slow motions(this trick is what they use for the pavlova cake). It will give it more body and height. I saw you like salt, before it's fully baked take it a few minutes before out of the oven and just sprinkle some unrefined sea salt(normal table salt won't do a very good job) , then put back in the oven till fully baked.

@scoobywhooo Жыл бұрын
@@FernandoHernandez-nj1kv You need to beat them initially, but then if you just fold those beaten whites into the mixture (instead of using the electric mixer as in the video), they will be fluffier. Part of the reason whipped egg whites are traditionally folded into cakes is to maintain the air that the initial whipping/beating adds. And also, as Google puts it, “Over-Beaten Egg Whites: If egg whites are beaten past the point of stiff peaks, the matrix of proteins will begin to break down and the foam will collapse. The egg whites will become grainy, watery, and flat. They can not be salvaged.”

I made them yesterday and ate half a pan in one sitting, that's how good they are. I used Skyr (high protein yoghut from Iceland) instead of Greek yogurt (which seems to be something different in the US because, in my country, Greek yogurt is not very high in protein and quite high in fat) and I used some leftover Chestnut flour instead of oat flour. This recipe is bomb. Thank you❤❤❤
@brandylou9132 Жыл бұрын
🤔 I'm confused. Why do you say Greek yogurt isn't very high in protein? I mean, compared to what? The recipe also has eggs which adds protein. I'm not arguing with you, just wondering if I'm misunderstanding something
@vendilionclique3280 Жыл бұрын
Well, Greek yogurt contains around 3g of protein and has about 108-120 calories per 100g (depending on the brand) while Skyr contains 9.5g of protein and has only 57 calories per 100g (Yoplait brand). I'm not Greek so I don't know if "my" Greek yogurt is the real deal but it looks like cream-enriched yogurt here. Maybe US Greek yogurt is more like fromage blanc ?🤔
@Charlotte-ti2yk Жыл бұрын
Which country are you in? I’m in the UK and we have Greek yoghurt (which is high protein), and Greek Style yoghurt, which has the macros about described. We also have Skyr. It’s actually illegal here to call a product ‘Greek yoghurt’ without it actually being Greek yoghurt (as in produced in the way which produces that thick, high protein product), which is why companies who made a kind of knock-off version have to call their product ‘Greek Style’. Perhaps your country doesn’t enforce that distinction?
@vendilionclique3280 Жыл бұрын
@@Charlotte-ti2yk Woah, I learned something thanks to you! Apparently we also make the distinction between Greek yogurt and Greek style yogurt here (France), but Greek yogurt seems quite hard to find in supermarkets....
@Charlotte-ti2yk Жыл бұрын
@@vendilionclique3280 Ah, then I completely understand. The ‘Greek style’ yoghurt rule is probably an EU wide one (and the UK still follows due to once being in the EU). So, we also had the same problem a while ago (5-6 years ago). I could rarely find real greek yoghurt in the supermarkets and was probably in the same boat you’re in now - I always wondered what on earth people were talking about when they referred to Greek yoghurt as ‘high-protein’. Like you, I always used Skyr instead. But with the increased popularity of health and fitness content, the increased focus in those circles of protein as a macronutrient being eaten in copious quantities, the demand (and therefore the availability) of real Greek yoghurt increased. I can now find ‘big brand’ (Fage) Greek yoghurt easily in every supermarket, and most supermarkets now also have their own brand of Greek yoghurt. Maybe that will happen in France one day too. Edited to add: You’re familiar with Greek style yoghurt, which has a consistency of a very thick and gloopy liquid - almost as if there has just been loads of cream added to it (and with the high fat content, that’s probably what they’ve done!). Greek yoghurt, on first inspection, looks a bit like a cream cheese. It almost looks like it should be spreadable. It’s not quite as thick as that once you actually spoon it out, but it’s certainly a lot thicker and firmer than a normal yoghurt.

I just made these so let me give you a honest review. My sweetener was not the same as he uses. I used erythritol from a brand called Belbake. It’s pretty good considering the fact that a piece is only 19 calories. But it has a really bitter aftertaste. It’s very similar to regular brownies while you are chewing, but once you swallow it leaves an unpleasant taste. I feel like if I would have used half sweetener and half banana for sweetening, and completely ignored the coffee step (I think it made it even more bitter) then it would have been a lot more better. I would definitely do this If I’d feel like binging. From the future: They cooled down and the middle parts that were thicker and less baked are not bitter at all. I love this. I think 18 minutes was too much for me,baking it for less minutes would solve all the problems, they get a lot more tougher when cooled down so don’t freak out if they are wery jiggly when first taken out of the oven.

First, I was an erythritol doubter for a long time; I assumed it tasted like stevia. But I ordered it just to make this and it’s great! Second, I think I didn’t let my egg whites get stiff enough: after 30 mins, the brownies were still super wet and fluffy inside. But they were good. Even my kids liked them. I’ll be baking this again. Thanks, Rahul.

Nice recipe! May try these, interesting to know coffee grounds can enhance chocolate flavor, thats good to know! May need to try especially with ground steel cut oats or almond and coconut flour. Only thing thats a bit wary is the amount of erythitrol, it may not be as gastrointestinally upsetting as xylitol potentially can be and erythitrol is a great non glycemic sweetener, and i use that brand you got there myself but for other people using that much may cause gastrointestinal upset, just a big maybe. By the way, you might also try powderizing the crystallized erythritrol if you have a coffee grinder! The powdered form can be absorbed more readily into whatever your sweetening! May also reduce the cooling effect too! If you just buy it you can also make it yourself and save some money buying the crystallized form!

For the sugar substitute are used a quarter cup of Stevia (the ratio to sugar is 1:2), and the batter was extremely runny. I don’t know how much extra oat flour I added I kind of eyeballed it until the batter was thick and fudgy. I also added crushed pecans and about a quarter cup of chocolate chips. It came out really good ! Not very sweet at all a little bitter because of the coffee and I really like it that way

@erikharrison2 жыл бұрын
@@finbob5 nothing! Just that, without it, you could just call these “brownies” and people wouldn’t bat an eye at the recipe even if they weren’t looking for a high protein health food. I suspect that these will be too fudgey for me, and that with a sprinkle of AP flour for gluten development and a careful folding of the egg whites you could get a cakier texture. But that’s one of the cool things of a recipe not made from a lot of preprocess ingredients is that your usual instincts for cooking still work.

Great recipe. I just think you could get the same macros from regular protein powder (25g) pt, glass of Fairlife milk (13g) pt, and a banana has a good amount of carbs. You’d have to eat that whole brownie just to get that amount. If your gonna cut it into pieces,save the rest for later days,the macros are significantly lower, meaning you’ll have to fill up your macros with something else.

I just made a batch for breakfast and I was a Lil nervous I wasn't sure looking at it how it was going to come out and I'm sure you understand that with recipes and on a cut ... if you put out a poor product , you've kinds ruined someone's macros for the day... BUT this was far from. I prefer this to the Soda brownies actually because there's less of a "Super artificial" if that makes sense flavour to them since there's so much Pepsi and the sweetener. Combining the Greek Yogurt, Egg Whites and Oats makes it Taste more like genuine brownies and actually if you make some slight reductions you can get an entire batch for around the same as most protein bars but with better macros !
