On "My Car Story" we're in the Suburbs of Phoenix AZ on 7-4-18.
We're looking at a 1962 Fiat Abarth 2300 S Coupe Corsa in Russo Red Paint. The car comes with the factory inline 6 cylinder engine.
The car's Owner is Chuck Maranto. Chucks had this car since 2010. Chuck shares many of the advanced features of his car. He shares there may only be about 11 car of this model left. Also, of the 11 cars left, this one is probably in best condition of them all.
ENJOY!

I love this car and it has so many cool little features. I have owned six Fiats in my life, "77 131 dark blue 2 dr., '81 Brava 2 dr dk blue, '74 128 wagon pea soup green, '81 Strada silver. '82 Strada silver. and my current machine and my favorite '75 124 Sport Coupe yellow which is still pretty solid thanks to the origional owner Ziebarting it when new, all cars stick shift. When the two barrel Weber is on it's good day and with tubular headers the 124 will easily go to 7,000 in the lower gears. My baby. Also have an early '85 944 gun metal grey which allows all rubber to blend in the best and phone dial wheels and though needing some repair and maintenance, still drives great and feels solid like a tank, and my most fun car for burning up the road? It's my '04 Pontiac Vibe GT 6 speed with fuel cutoff at 8,300 rpm. I wish this engine was in the other two, it's so good. Peace!

I bought my 2300S from 1964 in 1981 and it was my pride and joy for many summers . I stored it for a long time in my living room in the first floor , we had to lift it through a window. My eldest son spent years sitting in the car, fell in love with it and is now the proud owner. It´s under a complete restauration now and surely back on thew road when finished. The car of my life....

What a sweet little ride. Numbers are crazy, this being one of 50, with 11 being accounted for now and less than half running!!! WOW. Loved Fiats from afar. Good friends second car was an 850 in '75. Nice little car. Future BIL drove a 124 while in college and rebuilt engine himself while still living at home. Got married, landed a state job that moved him and family 500 miles away. Car stayed at his folks. Something happened and the car not only got sold but wrecked. Heartbreaker. Loved the newer 500's. Saw a feature in a local paper with an Abarth smoking the heck out of the front tires. When i learned these were not the typical model :)

I gotta admit, its a beautiful machine! I wouldn't want one, but ya just gotta give a car props when it pops. Those seats are to die for! The foot-bar is an unusual feature, kinda cool in an odd way. A lot of advanced goodies - very impressive! I do gotta say - when I was a kid, I loved cars with the window wings. I have no real reason why - just one of those weird things a kid might enjoy for no reason. LOL. So yeah - the Inner Kid Me gives extra props for the wings. :-) Kudos my friend! Another excellent video!

Lou,I found your video totally by searching Abarth 1000.When I was in the ninth grade (approx.1969) I used to have my dad drive me out to Fiat Rich Motors of Glendale in Glendale ,CA Where they were also a Abarth distributor. They had in their show room a brand new Abarth Berlina Corsa 1000.The car was painted in that beautiful sort of pale bluish color with the red stripes on top .It had the 1lire push rod engine I believe the 36 DCD weber and carrillo oil filter assembly on the right side engine compartment If I remember correctly it ran the later trailing arm suspension front coil overs and five speed tranny . This car in my opinion has to be the absolute ultimate of "rare"! of course there may be a real original factory car out there some where but where? tons of replicas have yet in all these years ever saw that very car again or any complete original example aside from pictures in Al Cosintino literature. Can't believe there is a collector so near California with such an outstanding collection of vintage Abarth Might you have an example of one of these cars as part of your collection?

Nice video ! A pleasure to see this very early Fiat 2300 S. A very hard to find model today. Specific items were, lettering in script on front and trunk lid, side windows without framing, only one warning light between tacho and speedometer, square shape for the red marker light on each door, only one power brake unit for the 4 wheels, trunk lid lock in upper position. Its design was done by Sergio Sartorelli, chief designer at Ghia, helped by Virgil Exner jr ( top and rear window ) and Tom Tjaarda for some details. The steering wheel is a nice "Enrico Nardi". In fact, Ghia presented on its own stand, a prototype, built on the Fiat 2100 platform, shown during the Turin motor show in 1960. Abarth modified the 2.1 liter engine with special pistons, camshaft and 3 dual barrel horizontal Webers. When Mr Agnelli and the staff of Fiat saw the prototype, Luigi Segre, CEO of Ghia explained that he had the idea to introduce this car on the market and sell it himself. Mr Agnelli replied: "No sir, we will build and sell this car by ourselves ! The next year, they decided to adapt the newly modified Fiat 2.3 engine under hood. A contract was built with Ghia fot 10,000 cars, and the body was assembled at the OSI plant, a subsidiary of Ghia (OSI means" Officine Stampaggi Industriali" but strangely, it appears that this acronyme is also built with the first letters of the 3 associates family name: Olivetti, Segre and Innocenti). Thank you for your good job about this rare Italian car! Kind regards.

A Ferrari for the common man. But this isn’t the last of the “big Fiats”. The 6-cylinder 130 sedan and coupé were built well in to the 1970s. French spec. yellow or “selective yellow” headlights were introduced for all cars manufactured in France from 1937 and were fitted until 1993. The steering wheel is from Nardi, not Momo, the former being the original brand fitted. Terrific, thoroughbred sound ! Thank you gentlemen, for sharing this beautiful car with your viewers.

About 7000 cars were built in total. Abarth didn’t build any cars, Abarth did tweak the engines for the S version (twin carbs, pistons, cam and sports exhaust) Ghia didn’t have the capacity for manufacture so subcontracted OSI to build the bodies, the cars then returned to Fiat to be trimmed and have the mechanicals fitted.

doing a little research... it looks like this is just a 2300S, All of the S models were tuned by Abarth to deliver 136 hp with dual carbs, increased compression and a different camshaft. The competition versions that Abarth created for racing had an even hotter camshaft, three carbs, a different exhaust and compression ratio and was bored out from 2279cc to 2323cc . These cars had 210 hp. This is a nice car, but it looks like someone went a little happy with extra badging. I could be wrong but I think this is just a 2300S. It only has twin carbs, not the three carbs of the competition model. That Corsa script on the back looks totally out of place. not the same type of font at all. it looks like it is from a different decade....

Looks a little bit like a first gen Mustang. I wonder if that's where Ford got the idea?

Dear Lou, great to see one of the last Abarth 2300 S Coupe Corsa. If you wanna see a second one which is more special have a look at our website: www.koch-klassik.de there you will find under "MEDIA" an article about our car. We have the last one of the three ever built ABARTH 2300 S Coupe factory vehicle of Abarth, which Abarth took to the 12h-race Nürburgring and the Tour d'Europe. First registration is Abarth SPA Turin and second one Fiat SPA Turin. Our car was the winning car with Paul Frere at the Tour d'Europe and Goldener/Falk at Nürburgring first in class - second overall. If you wanna have informations feel free to write me an email, you will find at our website. It's the last one of this three worldwide how Mr. Steinmetz - the race director of Abarth told us. Best regards Linda Koch

Badges and lettering are mostly wrong. Rear abarth emblem without "&C," were used after 1971.by the time abarth were bought by fiat. Corsa, as well is nonsense in this car.
