Remember that year well, could not believe the constant losing seasons had come to an end, playoff wins and superbowl years in future but it was a beginning

I remember that year too, so much fun to finally see the boys turn it around. I was 14 years old in 1987, great time in my life!

NFL Films totally downplayed the home playoff flop versus the Vikings which was a good move content-wise. This was the first year of a six year stretch of dominant defense and, specifically, amazing linebacking play. Their biggest problem was that the dynasty era Niners teams were blocking their path to being an elite contender (I say that as a 40 year fan of the Niners).
