Possible alternative: Minicut. If you're too short into your bulking phase, you're too weak or you don't know if you should cut or keep bulking, do a minucut for like 4 weeks and then continue bulking. Dr Mike Israetel from Renaissance Periodization has a great vid on it.

if you do it for the physic and health, keep a low/normal body fat, if you do it for the power and the strenght (without weight category restriciton) you can go at 20/25% bodyfat, you'll kill PR so hard

I’m about 20-24% buff, but not huge. He’s right. Lift heavy but switch to a high protein, low carb, low calorie diet for a month and the pound will come shedding off. I’ve been doing this for a month now and I feel and look the best I’ve even been

@@HamzahQuraishi818 that’s when you have fat and not too much muscle, so you can both lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. Usually happens to beginners lifters. Apparently you can metabolize fat and use it as fuel for muscle growth.

While I don’t like the term maingain, I think more people should maintain their weight after a bulk and slowly keep gaining strength while just not being in a surplus. There’s no rules stating that you HAVE to be in a deficit to get to a desirable physique, not everyone wants to be lean especially after being lean and small your whole life

If you don’t have a enough muscle mass then you do a lean bulk. Which may take a lot of time. But it’s easier to do that and then cut then the other way around

Looking good man. It should come down to how you feel, if you feel healthy and comfortable where you are, why add extra body fat to what I perceive as a healthy body fat percentage, why don't you just maingain from here? Bulking past a certain point will only lead to the inevitable yo-yo dieting, where you'll cut again and then bulk, you could just maintain where you're at now and I'm sure you'll make even more progress. Obviously it's your call to make, only you can choose what you want to do, it's just something I hope you'll consider.

Noobie gains isnt something that can be wasted. Noobie gains just means that a muscle is way below its maximum potential and it can make rapid strength and size gains because it is underdeveloped.

Muscle loss isn't inevitable, he could maintain his weight, eat enough protein and he would gain muscle and burn fat at the same time, if he's at maintenance, then any extra calories needed to build muscle could come from the fat he burns, no need to lose muscle, thing is though he could cut too and not lose muscle, say he cuts in a 200 calorie defecit to around 18%

When you are bulking you are basically consuming more calories than what you burn. It basically means that if you burn 300 calories in a cardio you should eat them later. If not you will just maintain your weight.

Yeah I think 20% is the max anyone should go on a bulk. Too far and you start to move in to the chubby phase and the weight cut becomes too long. Chip down to 12-15% then bulk up again until you reach the size you want.

It's not so much a body fat issue as a muscle mass issue. You might need to bulk for up to 4 years before you are ready to cut. So many young guys go on a cut before they have even built a good base level of muscle

Of course you shouldn’t listen to this guy. 15% is the top percentile of leanness. That means that someone who is 15% is leaner than 99% of people. Going to 12% is insane, let alone as a child! There are some reasons to be exotically lean, but as a child you shouldn’t interfere with your own adolescent development. I’m sorry he didn’t emphasize how extreme 15% is let alone 12%, I’m sure it would make a lot of people very confused as to what healthy is

'Cutting' is such a weak mindset. You are ok with not getting stronger, stalling, imperfection of a craft. When you stop getting bigger after failling a rep, you’ve failed twice. There’s always more weight to lift, and always room for more food, never settle.
