I went tru the whole process while trying to find what was the cause of the engine random missfire , but for whoever is here with the same problem i suggest firts check the coils as you see in this video , while you are at it might aswell change spark plugs ... if this does not solve it then clean egr ports and iacv aswell as manifold and it will make your car run as good as it was before ... also change pcv wich is 3 bucks at auto zone will make a difference ... hope this comment helps someone out there

04 TL had one coil die, one coil on scan tool was missfiring constantly on all cylinders. I changed all coils and plugs. Coils had 340,000 miles. Hitachi was oem coils. Im guessing the software in computer makes all cylinders misfire so help with detonation. Ford 4.6, 5.4, and 6.8 do similar way. When engine overheats, the ecm missfires coils on purpose to help run cooler.

Fin few minutes try putting in new coils some times the coils r weak and you cannot figure out the change in cylinder also some times the vtec causes it make sure ur oil and changed and good oil check vaccume leaks check egr valve

Also i fiddled with it with the same coils now its at 3 missfire 1 4 6. Though i replaced cylinder 1 with a coil pack i knew was good. Cuz it worked with 4 & 5 cylinder. Thanks for your expertise.

Fin ok seems like on high rpm the shake is not felt because it’s moving too fast so try check the rest of the coils usually on these cars I change spark plugs and all coils of this issue continues to happne make sure u pin point the bad coil first if your not looking to spend lot of money or buy 2 new coils and keep trying then on diff diff cylinders

After doing this process I think I have a wiring issue is there any way to find a break easier than taking the top off and peeling the plastic covers over the wiring and looking through the whole wiring harness connected to the coil pack that is still not changing?

Yea thanks my mom thought it was the egr ports because of autozone diagnostic but my code reader said spark plug misfire so I had to clear her egr ports just to show her it was her coil I replaced her coil and car ran fine

I had torque pro app, with odb2 hooked up on it, and before it got this way, it was telling me that several of my cylinders were misfiring. And it was kind of got harder and harder to start. Now it won't start but I know it's not the fuel pump it turns over and turns over and turns over and then acts like it wants to start but it don't.

So I did this and I'm still misfiring I was coding on cylinders 1,2,4 replaced spark plugs in all coils and switched out coil packs for all the cylinders 1&2 are ok now but 4 is still misfiring I tried four different coil packs and still misfiring I pull the connector off and there is no change in the motor. I thinking maybe bad connector?

I have a 2008 TL Type S and having Head Gasket issue. Just recently also got the codes for misfires - P302, P303 etc. Does fixing the Head Gasket fix the misfire issue ?

Manatti06 well if u have problems with head gasket that c an cause lotta issue misfire coolant burning over heating smoke out the muffler but I don’t think head gasket is worth doing rather replace engine low mileage used engine drop that in if u need to replace gasket

denverdan13 it dosent fit right u need swivel socket but usually I manage it even if it’s lil crooked it open up with lotta force I think from what I remember I used gear wrench

It’s can be egr valve or weak coil spark I usually on these throw on close coil and swap it to each cylinder the some times I had to replace multiple coils

Ok try this first pull out all the plugs to see if they are fluffed because if u had bad could and they wasent firing up plugs can get flushed so if they look wet change them also check spark also try this first

U can replace all the spark plugs and change only the one could on cylinder one. Mark x on the old coil so it don’t get mixed with others

You have to do the coil test to figure out the cylinder that’s misfiring u can swap the coils to see if it makes difference if misfire moves with the coils then it’s coil how ever do change the spark plugs if you never have changed it

@@RBTheMechanic I bought the car 2 months ago. Car is now running “funny.” Like it’s misfiring. I called the guy. He said he changed the coil packs twice over the course of him having car but never changed the spark plugs. Car runs sluggish at first take off, then runs normal. Little shaky on early morning start up until warm, plus that “putt putt” sorta sound coming from both tailpipes. All this started right after radiator hose busted and shot coolant all over. Immediately took car to get hose fixed and been running this way ever since.

Reset the light code will not go away you have to reset it ... however do u feel misfire? P0302 is cylinder number 2

I usually put carboard around the hole so there’s no air venting even if it opens up and if it changes anything that is the cause

Yes did a compression check and number 6 and 5 cylinder exhaust valves were leaking. Had to take head off and replaced all valves intake and exhaust valves on the front three cylinders

Frankie Amaral it had random misfire was giving random codes but by pulling on each coil connector we pin pointed bad coil either there was low oil at one time caused vtech not to activate or some one prior to us pulled could but it did have all the codes and car ran fine after words

RB The Mechanic sorry I don’t mean anything to you that just for me thinking my way .i got 2010 accord V6 one day misfired I scanned code.swap coils.than it run fine for couple hours than it misfired again. I took spark plug out a lot oil build up even new plug still do the same ,so I pull cylinder head out on 1.2.3 side saw oil build up in side . At this time I know my pistons ring is bad for some reason.
