I was lucky enough to find an S5 (Sept 09) with just 28k on the clock three years ago. I still have the car today, it is now just reached 38k and other than a engine carbon clean which cost me £99 and a faulty aircon sensor/switch (£36 and I will fit it myself as it is an easy job), I have had no issues with the car whatsoever. Some advice to potential owners: invest in VAGCOM OBD II software. Many (all) of the car's systems can be accessed, interrogated and reset using this package which will run from a stock laptop. It's about £300 here in the UK and worth every penny if you know anything about Audi service rates.

Did the carbon clean make a big difference in performance? Ive been debating getting it done cause im not sure it ever has. I love my s5 its fast, sexy, and just a general thrill.

@@mntwofiveohh3787 That's a tricky question to address. The process I had was one of splitting water into it's gases and running the liberated oxygen and hydrogen back into the inlet manifold. Is that effective at cleaning the combustion chambers? Yes, I would say so. My car is more responsive and the upchanges, particularly in lower gears, are now smoother and more progressive. But, it will not address carbon build up behind the valves - not even slightly. This can only be addressed by stripping the inlet off the engine and either using chemical cleaners or media blasting. That process runs to around £500-£700 here in the UK. Fortunately, I do not appear to have an issue with that right now, so the cleaning process I had done just cleaned the cylinders and injector tips and that worked very well for me.

I have a 2016 S5 and love it. I put it in Comfort mode in late fall and winter because the cold weather makes the suspension stiffer and the ride gets to be too rough in Sport mode. Plus there is really no need for a sporty suspension in winter conditions, especially with the snow tires on. In late spring and summer, with warmer temperatures and the 20" high performance tires and wheels back on, I usually put it in Auto mode.

They are about the same. If you keep up with maintenance.. which can be very expensive it should last you forever. Its just that everything is packed so tight that labor is expensive.

Great review. Really want this car. Found an 09 s5 with 87400 mileage. It's being purchased from the owner, so can't get a warranty or anything. 11k asking price. RepairPal says average cost of ownership/maintenance is 1200 a year and that it will be in the shop .9 times a year, way more than the average .7. What do you think about this car as a daily driver? Id probably put around 4k-5k miles a year with commute.

Thats a great deal! As a daily driver it is comfortable while still remaining engaging. The adjustable suspension, steering, and power modes really allow you the opportunity to customize your riding style. They are great cars but when they break it costs a pretty penny and has longer turn around times. I had to bring mine in for a caliper and it took almost two weeks because a part needed to be ordered.

@Lifeof_KennethPaul I've been looking myself and found most around 90k 119k only thing I worry bout I the tensioners for the train as be daily and last thing would want is to take engine out soon after having it Haha, what's your experience been

I do not. My wife ended up getting rear ended and it was totaled. During our few year with it we did not have any problems. Just oil changes and breaks. I miss that car.

Ha this is a few minute video and does not show how i drive the car. And at the end of the day its a car and most of the time gets driven at speed limits and to work and stuff. My bikes are what get driven at higher speeds typically.
