The console is the same in the Mustang .. the handbrake is on the LHS of the centre console. Didn't stop me buying one. And wasn't a consideration when choosing to buy one. I'm saying that buying a car like this is emotive ... And not having the console exact is no deal breaker to the buyer persona of who is looking for a car like this

I spent ten days and covered two and a half thousand miles in one earlier this year in Cali and Nevada. I was really impressed with the the whole car. The fuel economy was so good for what it is. Between 8 to 11 litres and I drove it fairly hard. Vision was crap but that’s what you get for a car that looks like a ten year olds dream car. I even slept in it at Yosemite national park, by folding down the rear seat and poking my legs into the boot. The dash is on point. The controls look so good and are incredibly easy to use. Why can’t all modern cars have this setup. Centre console is small but what do you expect from a car with a thumping big driveline and sits as low as a go kart. But it does suck just how cheap they are over in the US. I’m sorry but I cannot justify or even afford to buy one here.

So basically like is said before the aftermarket NA mods are going to go through the roof as far as costs go, basically Harrop will offer supercharger kits with headers and full exhaust and OTR system for around 18 to 25K depending on what you ask for, like heads, cam, full exhaust system, ( including hi flow cats, trans cooler if not already fitted by HSV, so for around 100K you will have a monster of a SS camaro with around 500KW at the rear wheels, or go NA with around 400KW at the rear wheels with OTR, full exhaust system and tune, which while the HSV warranty will be covered if you get the NA mods and even if you have a supercharger fitted, just like the US version, which i have no doubt the saem mods will be used as the SS ZR1 has directly from the states and HSV will do the upgrades or Harrop or all the others who will have the right stuff to do the upgrades and still have the factory warranty 3 years or 100,000KM which ever comes first, so how much will the re sale value be, ( 10,000KM and selling for around 75K 2nd hand but with factory warranty still) especially those HSV enhanced / forgot Walkinshaw will also have their version as well. :)

Prior to that sales dropped year on year. Most people just want a Hyundai with 7 year warranty that goes A-B. We'd still have the SS commodore if people bought the base models that are needed to sustain sales so the performance cars can be built on top of that platform.

@old bogan Actually, you couldn't be farther from the truth, mate. Of the 100+ cars I have owned over the years, the MAJORITY have been GM (both US and Australian). The rest have been (mainly) Ford, plus some Mopars (including my current SRT8 vehicles). NEVER owned a Hyundai, but I have nothing against you (or anyone else) owning one.

Dont worry, there will be series twom which will have 6 speed manual ,then also the US version ZL1 with supercharger kits and so on, they bring this version out to see how many people will trade there HSV VF's to get one of these and then spend the extra money via HSV upgrades which are like the ZL1 versions anyway, but again spending more money like normal ? Its like the Series one VF HSV, 340 KW for a SV version or the GTs with 430KW, then the series two can out with all supercharged engines no matter which models you wanted clubby, R8, GTS, Maloo, all go 410 KW except for the grange and the senator and GTS, So think about the next 5 years of new models, thats what HSV will be doing, they are niot stupid, VF"s will be traded in, the price will drop on 2nd HSV VF's and then more people will trade thier cars because they can affrod a VF HSV now and then in 5 years 2nd hand SS series one camaros will be out there for sale because people updated to the serie two. :) thats they way the cookie crumbles people ?H

@@MichelLinschoten You're right. Everybody looks for different things from a car though. Some people prefer just doing 1/4 mile straight line drags. Others like tack stuff or twisties. It's good to offer a manual for track day guys. HSV said they would love to offer manual to attract more customers they just don't have access to them and have to bring in Argentine spec Autos for this year.

A recent article on Facebook indicated that GM were open to all products coming to Oz if there was a sound business case. That includes Cadillac. The way to make it happen is if consumers get off their butts and buy what's available now. Nothing speaks louder than sales numbers. Manual gearbox is coming in the facelifted version next year.

I dont understand GM tbh. They have a bigger engine at 6.2lt yet it makes the EXACT same power as the 2018 5lt from Mustang. That is alot of extra capacity they aren't making use of imho. Peter HMan Coyote engine is actually much bigger physically and heavier. LT1 is a pushrod V8 and the Coyote is a dual overhead cam V8. Completely different types of engines with the LT1 rumbling and shaking the car and the Coyote being a high revving smooth engine.

Pushrod engines have a single cam and 2v per cylinder, the Mustang has double overhead camshafts (DOHC) per cylinder bank & 4v per cylinder. The DOHC design allows for not only higher, but more efficient air and exhaust flow, therefore it can combust more fuel at a faster rate and make more hp/L than a similar displacement (even larger displacement) pushrod design

I rented one of these in Hawaii for about $100 a day ,these are as cheap as a Corolla to buy over there. The road visibility is by far the worst I have ever seen, in fact I am surprised they meet Australian standards at all. They look and sound unbelievably good, but not seeing where you are going makes it unenjoyable to drive. Particularly like a performance car should be driven.Put on a welding mask next time your in the car to get a rough idea of what these are like to drive.

Yes nothing out of Europe comes close for $86k, what about Korea though? I'm sure if the left over change from a Stinger GT was spent on tuning it would wipe the floor with this. Even in stock form it's faster with more equipment. My Stinger needs traction upgrades and tuning to fix stupid issues like it only staying manual for 30 sec then reverting back to auto, more aggressive launch control and always starting in comfort mode. Hardware wise, it needs better brakes.

It looks way better and has that 21st century vibe unlike the mustang, it also has less dodgy spots that seemed to be fulled with plastic, now before you have a go at me for that, YES I know that the camaro also has a TON of plastic in it too, but to me it works better in how its designed. Also if Im going to be real with you, I dont know how you could honestly say that the mustang isn't cluttered and is "simple".. If you want a nice modern, clean design that's "simple", the camaro does a way better job of that. On the mustang theres just a big wall/block of crap plastic with gauges splattered every where making it look very chunky, cluttered and outdated... The camaro's interior is so much cleaner to look at, And when comparing a GT500 (that costs base price of 75K), The camaro ZL1 has a way nicer interior with less chunky plastic while being a bit cheaper... you'd think the GT500 would have a nice interior for its price, but no, Its almost the same interior out of a base model... Just pointing that out.

I’ve just test driven the Camaro and Mustang , back to back in Newcastle, and as a chevy fan since my childhood( I used to own a z28 1978) , I should say, the price for this camaro is Stupid! Honestly speaking mustang is more fun to drive with a touch better quality , yet 30 grands cheaper( the asking price for camaro is 96000) . It’s also stripped off of all goodies like MRD,.. Holden is a funny company, after all those years of squeezing chevy motors into Opels and call them muscle cars, now they are selling an almost base camaro with such a hefty price!

Mustang Gt premium performance manual $40000usd / 2ss auto $47000usd without taxes . If it was Rhd from factory it wouldn't be as cheap as the Mustang anyway , since Camaro 2ss has luxury car tax 33% . Price difference Rhd will be $10000 in Australia

@Kev agree, where did Dan the Mopar Man get that impression, if GM were going to build cars in Australia, they would have stuck with the VE & VF which Holden invested $1 billion, why would you waste time building the Camaro, a car a 100 kg plus Aussie is going to have trouble climbing in and out of, US cars have always been useless when it comes to ergonomics, space efficiency and build quality!!!

I have a HSV vehicle from new and am happy with it however this latest offering in my view falls far too short. Why not deliver factory right hand drive vehicles which no doubt would keep the cost down. Why are we being offered the old model, were they cheap due to over stock when new model released. The expected cost of the finished HSV vehicle is over the top, but I suppose HSV has to recoup their pre-conversion costs some how, why not pass it onto the consumer, back to my first point, why not deliver a factory right hand drive??? Like a lot of people, the conversion is a deal breaker for me, with the money being spent and the price we are being expected to pay why not flip over the console. I think I will put my money towards another vintage Indian motorcycle or pre-war Knuckle Head.
