@@hellcatdave1 well, you have a much more complicated mess under the hood which means more things to break and have to work right. You have the extra wear on the oil and the internals of the engine(customer will have to be religious about maintenance), the extra hoses for the intake plumbing will need to be replaced at a costly amount(because they different sizing on each end and extra ports on them), more sensors and complicated sensors because of the flip-flopping vacuum to pressure, yes and you said it, the actual turbo which will likely fail before the engine and be expensive. I guess these are some of the reasons that the reliability studies show much worse for turbo cars than N/A and also why Toyota is slow to adopt because they depend so much on reliability for their brand.

You made great points and provided an excellent history lesson as well. Not only did they make that fun, FWD Corolla but they made it just a few miles from where this video was shot in California. @@ALMX5DP Yes. I also wish Toyota put the 2.5 engine in the XSE. I don't think the manufacturing cost will increase very much. It's not like adding a turbo. What a fine review and a welcome new perspective. This car will be much more appreciated as a major upgrade from a Yaris hatch rather than a direct replacement for earlier Toyotas like the Matrix. The new hatch simply lacks the practical capacity and adaptability offered by previous generations of Toyotas and Scions. As many already know, Toyota offers a FUN and fully functional Corolla wagon in Europe that eliminates all the shortcomings and compromises built into this hatch. Kudos for the call to choose the manual version. Around the world manuals are driven in all sorts of conditions only Americans treat them with fear and loathing. #Savethemanuals #SaveTheWagon #SaveHandBrakes

Right Lane Hog I own this car and have all the practical capacity and adaptability I need. Your comment may be accurate for some folks, but not a whole bunch of people who love it. I used to own a 2014 VW Sportswagon Diesel TDI and I don’t miss anything about it except for the acceleration/HP and fuel economy that makes a Diesel so unique. Mine did better fuel economy than a Prius. But this little hatch is much more peppy and has a symbiotic effect with its driver. Makes one feel like one with the road. I rented the new Mazda 3 stick in Washington DC last week, and tho it does have more HP/torque than this one-it was imbalanced in so many ways. Felt Heavy, and not in a good way. Visibility wasn’t great; handling was stiff and it dragged the first two seconds after accelerating. I was really shocked at how much it disappointed me. I had it for 5 days. When I got back home and picked up my Corolla hatch it was like night & day. Truly, I’m loving my hatch!
@rightlanehog31515 жыл бұрын
@@LookingGlass24 Thanks for the detailed feedback. It is very telling to see that you refer to your new car as "this little hatch" after previously owning a VW Sportwagen. Clearly you desired a much more compact car and Toyota delivered on your specific consumer preference. The hatch is a very sound design with many positive attributes. I am certain the new Corolla sedan will be impressive as well but I want the third option to have VW Sportwagen space with Toyota QDR as is offered in other markets. In other words, Toyota customers in North America ought to have compact sedan, hatch and wagon options just like VW buyers. If VW can do it, Toyota can do it better. Happy trails. #ConsumerChoice #WeWantWagons
