@argh1001003 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. It only makes sense to make this statement in regards to the thickness/geometry of the design. Not for your material choice. If you look at other laptops, including laptops from HP, (partially) metallic laptop screens make much more sturdy and durable designs. Aluminium/magnesium alloys are able to accommodate much higher stresses and deformation energy, making it much less likely that your screen electronics or the screen chassis get damaged.

I was given a grant for a hardware upgrade and that was my only concern that you solved. I think some people are being a little over paranoid about the flex tbh (like you said give the 1000+ machine the care it deserves). Kind of like how the legion ports are on the back so if you have it on your lap you could argue that design as well for people's legs pushing against the ports. Something I learned quite recently is a type of damage called "flexion" where the constant warping through everyday use (e.g. pulling it out of bag and the like), overtime it gets irreparable. For example, yes it's not broken *now*, but through the constant pulling it in and out of your bag might leave long-term damage. Since we can't have this tested for years, all we're led to is assume. Credits to Louis Rossman for the knowledge about it. I'm not entirely sure whether or not my concerns are justified here, because the lid is plastic but the knowledge he gave was eye opening.

In my opinion , this should never have had to be something consumers would have to think about. The previous models felt solid with minimal flex. From a functional standpoint, maybe it would pose no issue long term, but just like a new car, it should look good and feel strong and well put together. I think from the drastic design change from what Omen fans are used to , PLUS the screen flex, it's making some consumers feel a little less confident in purchasing.

It has been a year and about 2 months since I purchased the 2020 r7 omen and the display died on 24th dec 2021, the laptop is used in a clean environment and was always placed on a table top throughout its life. Didn't even took it in a backpack cus lockdown and no load was ever put on the lid. The design itself has a lot of flex and in regular day to day usage the screen flexes while opening and closing the lid, which in turn killed my screen in the end. From my experience I would say omen still being one of the best ryzen laptops in the market, please consider something more sturdy. It has been relaunched with hardware upgrades but still has the same plastic lid.

Do you know where you could even get the HP Omen 15 with RTX GPUs? The HP site advertises the Ryzen Omen with up to RTX GPUs but if you click the specifications or shop now, they only let you pick up to the GTX 1660 ti.

So my dude.. I ended up buying this because if I really want a good gaming experience, I'd rather just buy the upcoming ps5 or build a pc. This laptop is still good in games, since I will be most likely be playing games like apex legends, pubg cs go and stuff.. which I won't be needing such high specs.

Hey man, I wanted to ask if you're still rocking the Omen, and if you've faced any problems with the screen gap after a year+ of use. About a week ago, I broke the hinge (and therefore the screen cracked) on my 5 year old and trusty HP AB522TX. Now I'm planning to buy the Omen 2021, but I'm really skeptical about the screen gap as I just went through the horror in front of my eyes on the old HP😅. Your input is highly appreciated. Thanks.!

I am between the HP OMEN 15 and the LENOVO LEGION 7i, I think the flexibility of the HP screen is good, rather the rigid screens are the ones that have the most problems for me, the most important thing is the hinges if they are of good quality, I had a laptop Lenovo and the hinges were broken together with the screen Lenovo had many problems with the screen I do not know now, there is a flickering in the Lenovo screens I do not know if you can confirm since you made a review of a Lenovo, the comments of the blinking ee is in reddit and they are very negative, I had an HP and I never had problems. I am going to wait a little more about comments from the HP OMEN and the LENOVO LEGION to be able to make a decision on which one to buy. I really like the HP OMEN. HYou did a great review on the HP congratulations.
