Tesla vision park assist doesnt work when its raining.., raining today and car was giving “park assist degraded” error message when try to park. Also try to adjust the rubber stoppers at the edges of your trunk. Its possible them stoppers are rotated all the way out, preventing ur trunk from closing all the way down

Adjust the rubber standoffs on the trunk to prevent the closing issue

Cool! Thinking about ordering a Austin build now. I’m thinking those batteries are soft locked. As soon as Tesla unloaded their old batteries they unlock more range ( charging us for it of course)

Yes, the 20s where the only option/build at the time. In theory the 19s would be smoother but I have not tried them

Thanks for doing this review. I beat you for the cheapest Model Y, Austin factory built: I have the basic white with black interior and 19 inch stock wheels, standard range. This my first Tesla, joining other car that’s a plug-in hybrid. I have not had any issues with the trunk or road noise. I’ve been really impressed by the build quality. I agree that the parking assist has not been much help. It kind of annoys me by sounding an alarm when I squeeze into a tight space in my garage. I live in the desert where it gets very hot, so I’m gonna have to do something about the heat coming from the roof. Please post what solution you find. Also, I would be interested in the link for your floor mats. I was about to order a set of 3D maxpyder, which I’ve had in my other cars and which I like but I’m always looking for something new. Finally, I refuse to pay Tesla $350 for the hardware that will open my garage door and development gate. I’ve heard that MyQ works well with garage doors and costs only around $20 so I intend to take that route.

@@RyuMoto I had a long range on order but it wasn’t going to be delivered until May or June. I was able to pick mine up from inventory at the Irvine store. I have zero regret about getting the standard range. I have a level two charger in my garage and for road trips I like to stop every couple of hours anyway. (Peasants, especially older ones, need to piss more frequently than the elitists 😂) The thing I’m rfocusing on now is finding the right cover for the roof. I don’t think that a cheap mesh is going to do much to cut down the heat but I’m keeping an open mind. Let me know what you decide to do.

Your trunk catch needs to be adjusted. The not going into drive right away is upon stepping on the brake pedal, if your seat is moving (going from easy access to your profile setting), you have to wait until seat stops moving, then select drive.

I should have mentioned the trunk doesn't latch when the car is parked on an uneven surface essentially causing the trunk to rest misaligned. There's nothing anything can do about that. Secondly I don't use the seat adjustment when getting in and out so it's not that.

I'm trying not to be biased when I answer this question but let's just say the gains in convenience after about 250 miles of range becomes marginal. For example you'll feel 200-300 miles but you won't really feel the benefit on a day to day basis of 300-400 miles of range IMO. However for the price it's only $2000 difference as of today between the YSR vs YLR. When I bought mine it was $4000. I might have paid the extra $2000 for the added convenience but no was was it worth $4k to me. I also wanted the new 4680 cells to try. If you have charging at most of your regular commute then the SR has been perfectly fine for me. Something to keep in mind... Us old EV guys survived on EVs with 100 miles of range and slow charging!

I am not concerned about the miles, but I also saw some YT videos which says the 4680 MY build is better than 2170 LR and even the 4680 seats are more comfortable than old MY. Something that i would like to know about 4680 MY future capabilities that can be unlocked by tesla (not entirely sure if my understanding on this is correct). Any insights on this you may have?

After a couple of months of use. They have been ok, but not great. My biggest complaint is they don't' anchor as well and move around a bit. I'm having to readjust them every so often. If you want the name I can look it up later.
