We unfortunately see that more and more, where programs were handed down to the younger generation to continue, but if there is no younger generation to take over the program, it comes to an end.

I heard you guys Break the tail so it doesn’t grow on these horses. Which is real cruel for these beautiful horses to go thru the pain because you don’t like long tails.

At one time it was functional, draft horses worked in close proximity to machinery and docking the tails prevented them from getting entangled in the machinery. It is less practical today, but seems to remain as a tradition.

"Superior genetics" in a Clydesdale today vary according to whom you ask. I'd call superior genetics a nice drafty Clydesdale with really good bone and substance, maybe 17.2hh max, and the right amount of leg, not over-long. NOT a hitch-horse in other words, and not likely to win shows (on this continent) but rather the sort of Clydesdale that a Clyde man or woman of 1910 would be very impressed with and want to put to real work. It's a sad testament to what's been done to the breed in North America today that those folks here and there who actually put horses to real productive work tend to give the Clydesdale breed a pass. They are not entirely vindicated here, there are still some excellent working style genes out there on the quiet.

Seeing these mutilated horses makes me want to vomit. They have tails for a reason, stop chopping of body parts!!!!!!!

Most of them just have the hair clipped short to the tail bone .for showing just cosmetic but when horses were used in harness work the tail could get dangerously tangled in reins and cause accidents.in uk it's illegal to cut a horse's tail but not sure about US rules.

@@pixie706 Horses have 15 to 21 Vertebrae in the Tail, i.e the bony part of the tail reaches almost all the way down to the knees. That is not what is shown in the video, the Horses are definitely docked- and i should know this, I´m a vet. But don´t just take my word, look up a picture of a horses skeleton .
