It’s so refreshing that you put attraction in there. I’ve read articles of women who’ve started fearing they’d never get married and settled for a man “they wouldn’t usually go for” because they’ve “matured”. As a woman who has compromised on attraction twice in the past, I learned that it is important to have that for the man that you’ll be spending the rest of your life with. I know I want my spouse to be attracted to me and not want me only because of how well I treat him. Doesn’t matter how well you’re treated if you know you’re not attracted like you should be for marriage. The last thing I want to do is go down the isle only to be tempted to cheat on him once someone attractive comes around 😬 knowing this, I was forced to end these relationships as they had no future and was causing stagnancy towards my true destiny!

I agree but sometimes things take time. Level/frequency is important sometimes it takes a lil bit longer than 3 dates. I use a time frame to evaluate. I typically give 6 months with levels of progression from 1-6 months.

And to be in peace in the relationship you both have. When you don't have anxiety, insecurities and uncertainties. But just being at peace in your heart about it being right. I need to get my life to organize together. Right now I am self-improving myself. Although my first time liking someone was horrible but I did think something was wrong with me but God has helped me to become a better person by letting me focus on my self and goals for my life. I thank God relationship has never broken me down or makes me lose my focus in college. I am an Athletics person, who studies maths and science. From I experience crushing on someone in my first year of college but now I am finishing college at 18-20 years old. I never let anything broken my life down. Thank God for the strength and courage.

Finally someone who has affirmed my views that attraction is important for women just as much as men. You always hear the narrative that if he’s a good guy keep him and you can grow to be attracted to him. I’ve tried to force myself in the past to overlook how I don’t find him physically attractive just because he matched me on other levels. But it just wasn’t there. And I felt guilty for a long time and felt shallow & that God wanted me to look at the inside more than the outside. If I’m not attracted to you I’m doing you and me a disservice. I won’t be able to reciprocate feelings which will hurt him and then hurt myself from the guilt of having wasted someone’s time.

Thank you for validating the Attraction part. I feel like people always tell you to give someone a change after you've tried and its just not there and tell you love can grow. Yes it can grow but there has to and should be attraction both inside and out there. Just bc someone is good doesn't mean they are for you if you aren't attracted to the person. it is still settling and you won't truly be happy.

I was only 16 when I found the 1. Something about this young man made me at ease and comfortable. We saw eye to eye on everything spiritually, morally, and our vision for our future together were all aligned. Thank You for this well needed advice !!! I had refused a few dates, because we didn't share the same values. Definitely good indicators and I’d say #2 is something I struggled with as I’m 32 and my standards are nonnegotiable. At some some point I thought perhaps I need to be more open because “time isn’t on my side”. However I now have peace about not forcing myself to be interested in someone for the sake of being in a relationship. Even if they’ve expressed interest and seem to be a great God-fearing man on paper, I simply can’t make myself like them in that way but it sure does suck. Anyway thanks for the nugget at the end! I just signed up and highly considering 😊.
