I feel you. I had to think long about it before deciding to quit, but really I feel amazing. I am taking some time off for me next spending it with family at the moment while at the same time exploring things that I’m interested in and that I can do. Good for you if you feel liberated. Dude, everything u say is sooo true!!!!! These jobs especially call centers are energy vampires, I quite my job and rediscovered myself all over again and feel like super woman!!!!

Everything you said was spot on, I work at a call center now and absolutely hate it, I have no passion for this at all I'm working towards a career change now and plan on putting in my two week notice this week

I've been working in a call centre job for the past 3 years in the same company. That's because I am afraid to make the change. The past jobs I had were mainly casual work, but with this one, I am working full-time which is why I need this job. I don't have any skills; I'm already in my late 30s, with a health problem and student loan debt and credit cards debt that I still need to pay off. It's hard to imagine that 3 years had passed, and I still haven't saved up any money. All my co-workers who came at the same time with meh had already left the place - or should I say, "disappeared out of the blue". They dont tell you when they are leaving. Right now, there are new people in the call centre and things are not as exciting as they once seem to be. The job gives me anxiety. I get a lot of people screaming at me, and a lot of the time, I felt sad that I couldn't assist their enquiries.

I am sad to read through this, I haven’t had such experience to be honest, however I felt deeply unfulfilled and did not feel any added value to my life whatsoever, if anything it was more headache and overall negative energy on so many levels. I decided to stop because I choose my overall health over a job. I know that the state of the world today makes the future uncertain, but when have the future ever been really. I hope you can find it in you to save your energy and channel into something else that’ll bring you more or at least gives you back what you put into it, because these call center jobs are energy vampires. And being in late 30’s is just a number. Sending you positive vibes ☺️

I am still working after being demoted from my previous secondment. I got into IT field but they did not like me so they sent me back to the calls. Now here I am back on the phones. I have been on the phones for the past 10 years. i just want to get out this field.

I feel you. Please know that there is much more opportunity than just this. I don’t know if you are taking this job out of necessity or else, and I know at the end of the day you are extremely tired to do the slightest effort even if it means it’ll change your life, but please do your best to put yourself in a different situation. I've been in a call center now since 1 year and it destroyed my life. Most of it is mental issues. I was a pretty upbeat person who was smiling and hates violence. Now i have severe deep depression, constant anger issues (i scream at my friends and loved ones unintentionally). I wanted to kill myself many times at least i had way too many thoughts about it. Now i even want to punch so many people in the face for no fucking reason other than to get this frustration and anger out of me! I hate my life, i hate my choice i made, i hate everything!

I just came accross this comments, and i am sorry for the way you feel. It may pay the bills today, which in itself is a good thing, but as your said, it was a choice of yours no matter how bad it makes you feel right now, and no matter how uneasy it was for you .. know that you have the power to sway your life ina. different direction. Not an easy thing to do, but you alone have the power to level up your life. It may be harsh to read/hear but it is true, no one is coming to save, but YOU. You seriously said it how it is! I’m leaving my call centre job in 3 days time, after 6 months of my mental health taking a beating from customers and toxic colleagues I decided enough is enough. I’m going travelling for a few months and don’t intend to bother work in such environments anymore! I felt wasted working in a call centre didn’t give me a sense of self, no job satisfaction or rewards! I felt like a zombie day in day out I dreaded going into work! Thanks for sharing your experiences am glad it’s not just me.

I am glad you made that decision. Pause from work and take the time you need to recharge and reset. You’ll feel a sense of relief once you leave, you’ll feel lighter and in better mood. Trust me.

@BIBIAN GREEN - how do you tell your boss that you decided to leave? Did you say that you're planning to go travelling? I want to leave call-centre too but a bit worried that people might tell me without another job lined up, it can be difficult and I dont want to give other people the idea that I'm being lazy.

In 2020, I remember not being enrolled for my Sophomore year because of financial issues, so I tried Call Center job during the first year of Pandemic. Before, I dreamed of working in Call Center because the pay was above minimum wage for someone who has no Bachelor's degree or someone who is yet to earn one. In our country Call Center jobs have salaries higher than a newbie Nurse or Teacher or if you have not pass the licensure exam it's your option. I only had 2 months contract because the account is seasonal, working in Call Center made me feel like I'm not enough, I hated anonymous phone calls, because of that I get mad when someone calls without texting me that they would call I can see it as a disrespect.

Oh I completely understand that. Working there have made me annoyed by things that before were normal to me, or made me loose my patience. I was absorbing people's energy all day, that when im home I would get made, if i'm asked a simple quesiton or talked to .. i wanted to be left alone, and only be talked to if it was entertaining, I had nothing left in me for the day to day life out of that cursed job. Best thing I did, was to leave. Where are you now ? Still working there ?

@@the_nabilos My contract ended and I was so happy because I didn't need to write a resignation letter or to deal with any disputes, I was notified about contract renewal, re-profile or rehire but I declined for good, I only had 2 months of contract. Now, I got back to college.

I'm writing this comment a few minutes after sending my resignation letter to the HR. I have always wanted to quit this living hell the moment I started working there but I had to continue because I needed to have work experiences and I really was hoping to get promoted so I lasted for 1 whole year of bad mood & sleep disorders due to their inhumane work nature where they treat you as a robot. Cannot describe how I'm feeling now, feels exactly as someone who got free from prison. Liberation 🕊️

@@the_nabilos I did not leave work yet, I'll be leaving on Feb 20th when my contract expires. Your video was very motivating and I felt exactly like all you've said in the video. I want everyone to know that they're signing their freedom when accepting a call center job. I know you can be better than a parrot who repeats a script 200 times a day.

Let me tell you. When they're terrible systems freezes or is slow and you have to restart or reboot your computer, automatically you will be offline and then they tell you that's counted as downtime, and that means they will take from your salary, just because they're systems are poor. Do we need to talk about the fact Managers and their constant harassment over their team members, why were you sick? What's wrong with you? By law we don't have to disclose why we were sick, but they don't care. And when you let one call go, it's seen as call avoidance but they don't understand that you sometimes just need to breath or take a sip of water. Can we please talk about the constant tiredness? I feel so exhausted sometimes that I don't even eat when I get home. Or don't have the strength to clean my place properly. The constant shift changes. Weekends all I do is not get dressed and lay in bed cause I'm tired.

I feel you on every word you just said. They stress you out over some metrics that you have no control over, because the client blindly fills in the satisfaction form, or their evaluation factors don't make complete sense and are flawed, and you pay for it from the already miserable pay. But the worst for me was the constant shift changes and especially sometimes working the weekend. I was always tired and unmotivated. Also they refused to give us like a day or two off that you combine with the weekends (when you have it off), to like rest for 4 days or go somewhere ... they made us take a whole week. What am I gonna do with an effing week ? We were in the middle of a global health crisis and travel was banned. Worst management ever. They really don't care about their agents, that's why the turn over is so huge. Thank you for your comment, I very much appreciate it.

Long story short, had a great sales job and was layed off. Took a customer service call center job to pay the bills. 1.5 weeks from my new non call center job. It cannot come fast enough. This work is dehumanizing between the way you are treated by the public and the micromanaging. Only take a call center job if you have to. They will make it look shiny...it never will be!

I don't know your circumstances nor your life, but I do believe if you have this job or any other job you have a choice somehow to make your life feel more like you are in control and not reacting to life.
