A good way to survive would’ve been weaponizing the dead aliens. They have soft skin underneath their armor, so there’s a way to skin them. Time to make some indestructible alien armor and big ol’ knives out of their claws. I also noticed that the monsters haven’t been shown to attack one another even tho they make lots of noise. I wonder if it’s possible to cloak your own scent with the monster’s scent (assuming they identify each other by smell). Even if the scent thing doesn’t work, you still have new armor and weapons. After all that it’s time to repair the farm and live as they have been. Like you said, they killed the 3 known monsters and they have alarm systems in place in case any more show up.

4:20 In fairness the creatures are probably like Hippos. Hippos are more dense than water and so sink and will drown if they can't get to the surface. Hippos instead will walk along the bottom and hold their breath. They usually stick to the shallow water when just hanging out. But if you put a hippo in deep water they will sink to the bottom and if they can't walk to shore in about 5 minutes they'll die. Given the thick plates of armour all over the creatures bodies its likely they are far more dense than water and wouldn't be able to swim. My theory on why the creatures are able to survive everything except deep water: 1. The creatures might have a similar ability to Tardigrades, where they can make their bodies inert and effectively immortal. When they entered the atmosphere, they began the process to reanimate. The process may take a while or require something from the creatures that it couldn’t do in water to begin the process of becoming inert, thus explaining why it drowned. 2. The creatures might be amphibious to freshwater, but not saltwater, or alternatively, the creatures cannot survive in saltwater due to something on their skin or inside their bodies, similar to how a snail will die if exposed to salt. It’s important to note that the water in the basement is probably freshwater and the water at the shore is definitely saltwater. I’m not trying to disprove anything or call people stupid, I’m just trying to create a reason for the inconsistencies between the movies.

Huge clarifications you may have missed about the monsters (Now with some corrections at the bottom) (I’m a nerd I know) John Krasinski said in an interview that the creatures are “evolutionarily perfect”. He also said that the original planet (that had an extremely thin atmosphere which required sensitive ears) they were from exploded and they lived thousands of years clinging to the asteroids. The one you see drown doesn’t actually drown rather than sink, the water disperses any sound to the point they can’t navigate as well so they just sit down there until they are on land again. The reason they hunt but don’t kill is because our atmosphere is so dummy thicc compared to theirs our tiny sounds are excruciatingly painful so they just attack the source. They are relatively nuke proof because the borderline indestructible armor around their head when they go into defense mode is suction cupped to their head protecting their weak spot, their ears which they can kinda breath through; same as us (we just use that skill to pressurize our ears). The feedback loop sound makes it impossible to close their heads because it’s the frequency of their head mussel and tissue so the head plates just kinda stick out leaving the soft head tissue exposed. Correction: I have since learned that the monsters most likely can navigate in water to a degree. I have also learned that cochlear implant’s shouldn’t even make noise because that’s not exactly how they work. Which I guess means it’s more of the electrical feedback loop that hurts the monsters and not necessarily the sound. And that would make sense because lights do flicker every time they are near suggesting they have some sort of roll with the electromagnetic system. Weather you agree with my personal opinion on an explanation, we can all agree it’s a fun movie and the concept is cool. I didn’t mean to stir up a comment argument but it’s the internet so I should have known that. I hope everyone reading this has an amazing day and life! You are all awesome!
@HORRIOR13 жыл бұрын
Yeah some basic physics problems with that explanation. 1. Sound travels in water better than in air, so they most certainly would be able to navigate. 2. Them being nuke proof is one thing, (which really shouldn't since Nukes can reach temperatures of up to 100 million degrees Celsius) but being able to survive atmospheric entry from orbit and NOT cause a massive crater wherever they land is impossible. 3. Even though the armor is "indestructible", it is still armor. There is only so much blunt force that it can absorb. Considering how skinny these creatures are, the force of a power enough impact (say falling from an orbit at mach 32, if we are low balling it) should travel to their more sensitive parts and liquidate them.
@dominickeijzer58443 жыл бұрын

I would have taken the dead monsters armor, and made weapons, and armor out of it, like the predators did with xenomorph bodies. The giant claws that can rip through thick layers of metal would make for some amazing claw gloves or any slashing weapons, you can even go crazy, and use the armor on the arms, and combining them into a scythe, or spears. (Warframe have a scythe that could be the design of the weapon). I’m not sure if melting the armor is possible with them arriving on a asteroid that crashed onto the earth, that and fire only tickles them, so melting it down, and making swords, or any weapon you want, or even a armor that can actually fit you might be out of the question, unless you are in a military base or some company that make weapons, if the heat isn’t enough, you can keep on messing with it until it works. I would just stay in the town with all of the death angel’s dead, only using the armor to protect me against people, and using the weapons against people, but mainly for hunting. Also the armor is immune to shock damage, and impact damage, the little girl used a pipe to slice through it’s flesh like a sword, but yet the armor let them survive a planet exploding, and crashing onto the earth, so a person with the armor should be fine unless they are hit somewhere without the armor or they snap their neck falling.

My theories for the monsters coming here and surviving and the whole water thing. 1. The meteors: we see in the films that their armour is impenetrable from most things, flames and bullets are the most commonly seen weapons or dangers that the monsters encounter. Assuming they don't get hurt from falling from things or things falling on them or crashing into things, then we can also assume that the crash and subsequent impact stuff from the meteor wouldn't hurt them. Also the meteors could be pieces of their home planet; if their planet collided with another and their armour really is super powerful, maybe they could survive the vaccum of space (assuming the dont need oxygen to live). And if the meteors were small enough the government/nasa might not use resources to prevent them from hitting the earth. 2. Water: When that one from the first film goes in the water its armour is completely shut tight and it only opens its armour after it lifts its head out of the water. This implies that their inside squishy bits could be sensitive to water like the aliens from Signs. Their long limbs and small compact torsos look more adapted to swinging and maneuvering over jagged high level terrain, reminding me of orangutans or other arborial animals that swing (we can see the one climbing upside down on the metal thing very easily and quickly). Their shape doesn't look very good for long distance swimming where they can't touch the bottom to propel themselves. So they can swim in shallow water but not deep water and their insides may be sensitive to either all water or salt water.

The real question is how do this creatures communicate with each other? They are blind and have no sense of smell(or a very very weak one), so they communicate with each other by sound? If thats the case, they must communicate in a certain frequency that we cant hear, we could try to discover that frequency and trick them with it, which would make dealing with them much easier. If they had sense of smell, we could also use the creatures corpses to cover ourselves in their smell, this wouldnt make for a permanent solution as you would need a constant source of dead creatures, you could still use the high frequency sounds to disorient them and get more bodies. Discovering the enemy's way of communicating with each other is one of the most important parts of warfare.
@Ghostly_Eclipse10 ай бұрын

For the sound question, people make a big mistake. The creatures DON’T hunt with sound. They don’t use sound. They’re used to quiet, and sounds bother them. That’s why they try to silence the sounds, so there will be no sounds to annoy them. That’s also why they don’t go near the waterfall in the first movie, not because the waterfall masks the sounds of the humans but because they can’t silence the waterfall so they stay away from it.

Some might wonder how you can aquire explosives and here is the thing if they have guns that means they have access to gunpowder and black powder so I say get an aluminum can put the gunpowder/black powder inside and then stick a heating element inside. This is a general solution rather than one relating to this movie specifically as option 3 or 1 in the video is superior if we're talking about part 2 specifically if we're talking part 1 and 2 then I think this is an honorable mention.

Both the weaknesses of the creatures are easily discoverable and exploitable. The drowning one, easier than the other. It’s literally impossible to not know that the creatures drown, living for months on end, in the apocalypse. I’d argue the govt and military would figure it out and use it to lure creatures out towards open waters and drown them strategically, early on. The ultrasonic frequency weakness too, could be easily discovered by someone genuinely looking into the behaviour of the creatures. Anyone trying to figure them out would eventually try out exposing the creatures to different types of sounds and frequencies. Especially the planning and intelligence divisions of the military. But in this movie, only a deaf mute girl could ACCIDENTALLY figure it out lol. Tim Robbins’ character in War of the Worlds (2005) once said that they’d taken down a few of the tripods already in Osaka or someplace. Since then, I’d always thought humankind’s comeback during such apolcalyptic scenarios would be mounted from Japan or China or someplace Asian lol. I’m pretty sure anyway they’d have figured it out and taken back control over a lot of their lands by the time the events of this movie or the first one took place. Seriously lame and lazy writing. If a family of 5, with no resources or strategy can survive and find out their chinks in the armour, I’d love to see how the military could possibly collapse.

Cool plot twist for the move would’ve been that they were just weapons of war by an alien species that sent them to earth to wipe out humans so they can just come and take over. And when they’re done with them just broadcast a sound that killed them all at once.

I'm totally with the third solution here. Just stay on the farm guys. At the very least there's no hurried reason to rush out into the world. Figure things out, make a plan, and then sure they can consider finding ways to spread the information to the survivors of the world.

I think the reason it couldn't swim in the second movie is maybe with their armor being what it is they don't float so it was only able to "swim" in the basement because it could walk along the floor, though in said basement it did seem to have an unusual competence at moving in said shallow water

I have 2 theories. 1. This is actually an alien invasion rather than a coincidental disaster. Some race of highly intelligent beings crafted the perfect organic killing machines, and set them free on Earth to greatly hinder the humans. I mean think about the monsters real quick. They are perfect killers. They are fast, precise, strong, and damn near invincible, and they don't eat. Not once have they been shown to hunt for food. They kill to kill. And also isn't it a bit weird that they have such an easy shut off switch? I mean assuming evolution existed, why would it allow for a high pitch sound to open up their protective shell when it's clearly irritating to the creatures. I mean yeah, their only sense is hearing, but isn't it a bit convenient that they not only open up to expose themselves but also practically freeze up? Very convenient if you had to eradicate them after your main threat was gone. And as for their vessles? Well with the help of advanced technology they could easily just slip under our sensors. Perhaps they were shipped in a capsule inside the meteor to survive the blast, while the meteor itself was used to destroy and disorient the humans. 2. This was an attack by other humans disguised as a natural alien disaster to conqure the U.S and more. Let's say you're a very powerful, evil leader of a country with tons of money and a seathing hatred for America and it's fellow country. You want to just clean the land so your country can just walk in and take over. Well after years of human experimenting (look at the design of the creatures and you'll see incredibly similar human features) you create the perfect killing machine. But you can't just ship these mutants to the shore. No, it would be too obvious, and then you'd have the entire world pointing a gun at you Instead you should launch them into space and have them come down in a meteor looking vessel and let everyone think it's a crazy accident. No repricusion on your end. And after a couple years of waiting to make sure all systems of government have not only collapsed but any resistance is thoroughly, you just send an army armed with a kill switch you just happen to know about, walk in, and own the place permanently. Not just the U.S, but possibly North and South America. Trillions in nature resources and future development is yours. And all it took was a few billion in research and the largest genocide the world has ever seen.

Wait. If they can drown, doesnt that mean they must have some sort of breathing system/ lungs which would allow a lack of air to kill them? It's not definite, and you would have to test it but another, slightly less effective way would be to poison the air or release a toxin of some sort. This may not mean they have a sense of smell or taste (to some degree) but some types of gasses can still trigger a fatal reaction, such as Carbon Monoxide which is found in gasoline-powered boats. (Which should be easy to find since they live in a semi-close proximity to a pier) Although, this only works if the reason deep water kills them is due to a lack of breathable air, or something of that nature.

You raise some good points, particularly when you ask why did the family leave the (relatively safe) farm? Perhaps the memory of the father being mutilated in front of his kids there was a factor. But I think you were a bit harsh by stating that the film, overall, wasn't very good. I enjoyed it. Have you watched 'Old'? Describing that film as 'not very good' would be an understatement. Keep up the good work though.

Wait, you're telling me that these people had a functioning community on the island, and NONE OF THEM THOUGHT TO BUILD A NUKE!? - - - - Actually unironically the nuke (or more accurately, bombing/sea-to-land missiles) option makes a bit more sense. No way that the air forces of various countries loose air superiority instantly and it would be pretty easy to gather the creatures in a chunk of land and using the sounds of multiple choppers/jets you could clear them out. It's not like it would take days to figure out it's sound that creatures are reacting to. If anything, even if Air forces gradually lost the ability to fight back due to creatures getting onto airbases and landing strips and fucking everything up, there should still be surviving military members here and there that survive encounters and the knowledge would gradually be disseminated. Doubly so whenever aircraft carries, battleships, and subs (including nuclear-tipped ones) are forced to dock again. This isn't even an 'America military gung ho thing', almost all moderately or significantly developed nations in the world should be able to do this to some extent.

My theory for the drowning this is that they can't drown per say, but just kinda exist underwater. Ether that or when they do get low enough, the pressure takes care of them.

The thing that really gets me about the second movie is it seems like such an obvious thing to try, if you're fighting an enemy that hunts purely by sound, to try to just overload it with the worst sounds you can think of. If I was playing a video game and I was fighting these monsters it would no joke be at least the second or third thing I would try after just shooting it. I cannot believe that the rest of humanity did not stumble upon this, that the government or military did not stumble upon this. Everyone with a smartphone would just start playing "mosquito noise 10 hour" and get to work within a week, heck within days, if this was genuinely their weakness.
@NotPublicAegis3 жыл бұрын
I think the usage of certain traps that is triggered and attracts these Creatures could be as effective. You simply need a tape recorder, an explosive, and a simply motion detector. You can create a box which houses the tape recorder and D.I.Y explosives. Make sure the recorder is safe and a launch system for this DIY bombs made from regular household items or strategically place shot gun shells or use lighters. Lure with noise, wait, detect, lure detection, launch, kill at a distance. You can even use pit falls, have a hole filled with spikes and a recorder, and make a sound. The creature's weakness is involuntary so the creature would die from the tics or recorder

Here's something that was forgotten that shows that it would be pretty easy to spread out the information - which would pretty much remove the cons of the last choice (and even increase the viability of it!). In one of the scenes in the first movie, when the father ignites the flame upon the grain silo, multiple other flames are lit; signifying that there are nearby survivors. Due to the short distance, it would be easy to go to those survivor groups and tell them what happened - allowing for more people to tell about the creatures' weaknesses. Not only that, but that could allow them to get more hands or a temporary shelter when they are repairing the basement. Finally, and most importantly, it will allow them to undergo things such as trade or the creation of communities. Over time, a large farming community could even rise up - using speakers to display the noise when creatures occasionally appear, and letting new survivors in.

It was explained by the director that the meteors where parts of the creatures original planets after it exploded by some catastrophic event, and the reason why it hit earth, was pretty much bad luck that earth was on the way of some of the wandering chunks.
