I do ninjutsu martial arts Japanese samurai etc. Boxing comes into it a little. And have made a bag. I am naturally left handed but can hit right as well. It does not swing but we also need to kick the bag to. How do you secure a bag properly to get best practice. I have filled it with old clothes I don't use, but some say sand is better which is correct.

Totally novice at this kind of thing. But I love it. I totally hold my breath and I am gassed within a minute. I've started training with a MMA friend of mine and as he asks me to throw punches at the target pads I realize just how technical boxing is. My foot placement is so bad that by the time I get to a 3rd of forth punch I am on my heels or literally in the wrong place to throw a punch at the target. Love the workouts though and new sub to channel.

Good points. However, the swinging bag can be used to sparr for footwork and changing the striking distance (between hitting and kicking, if your into more than boxing) and also the impact - e.g. you're facing a big person rushing against you.

Hey champ I was wondering if you do any drills to go in an out of punching range on the heavy bag?? Something with a bit more footwork so I stop reaching as much?
@jamesfrance573 жыл бұрын
About point 1. I was taught precisely NOT to hit a bag with straight shots as it swings towards you as the collision of fist and bag may injure your wrist. Instead, treat the bag swinging towards you as a punch that you slip or take on the shoulder. And just as it moves away throw the straight shots or slip and hit the side of the bag (e.g. liver shot) as it comes in. But never hit it straight on as it swings in. I'm interested in your comments on this. Thanks for a great video as ever.

Thanks for this... I was bored at Playing my Weaponry on martial arts so I decided to at least train some hand to hand if I have the time...*archery is one of my favorite Thō I do know few about hand to hand but I prefer boxing because it's effective, well I trained kick box too so😅. But still boxing is better since I already onow the basics in punching... All I need to do now is learn how to box, about the exhale while punching yeah same as weaponry you also need to exhale when striking. If u misunderstand me you guys just to let you know I'm not really good at english when explaining

I'm really not doubting your tipps and experience, you've probably more forgotten about boxing than I've ever learned. So here is my question: I was taught to not hit the bag as it is swinging towards me but instead circle around it and hit from the side of its movement so it doesn't start swinging to much. My coach told me to do it that way or otherwise I'll endanger my wrists and tendons over time. But now I am confused so which approach is the better one?
