The reliability is a heavily understated trait of these cars. Not having to constantly worry about (and often pay for) repairs is a godsend.

I think the engines are pretty stout but as a complete car I think Toyota is still superior, the fit and finish on Hondas are always a bit sketchy, especially on the lower end models as he pointed out with panel gaps and rattles.

I am looking at this for my next car early 2023. Upgrading from my Mazda 3 hatch. I do wish the SI came in a hatch but the sedan looks awesome. Seems to be a great upgrade. I also do wish fog lights and heated seats came with it. But such is life. After market fogs are a thing though and many look pretty sweet. Thanks for the review!

Some random reactions. My boxster has the same problem with the passenger seatbelt (rattling), so I belt it when there’s no passenger with me. Don’t hear anything from my 3 months / 3,600 miles in my si. I find it plenty quick for real world street driving. Agree with the plaudits for this car. For those who love manuals, this one is terrific (in some ways better than my Porsche) Had a focus RS and agree with the cockpit observations by tedward. The interior on the ford was awful compared to the Si. The seat pan angle was not adjustable and uncomfortable. Ride quality was horrible. Was heroically fast, but you only had fun when demolishing the speed limit. You can enjoy this Si without having to hoon. Oh yeah, it also had an ad hoc problem where it was beyond rev hang (sometimes elevated as much as 1,000 rpms upon upshift…..ford called it normal so I sold it. Reliability is relative….I’ll bet on the Si vs other options. Having said that - I may go back to a brz in a couple years. Would likely not do a CTR……that’s likely $50k and I don’t see the value there.

We (My son and I) are over the 10,000 KM mark in our 2022 Touring sedan and man, the only complaint I have is on rear seat headroom for 6 footers, but I don't HAVE to sit back there :) I think it is truly a travesty that Honda didn't put the Si Canada trim as the same for the US. The NVH in the touring sedan is just truly awesome for "just a Civic". If the US Si had some of those up trim NVH considerations, I am sure it would make your ride that much more rattle free. Personally, I would love to row gears in an Si but the total trim package and comfort in our Touring just makes it too hard to part with. I am still not a massive fan of the overall look of the car on the outside (I really like the whacko look of the GenX as we had one of those too), but the interior in this thing is just awesome and especially for the money. As for panel gaps, that is to bad you have those on your car. Ours is "perfect" other than what looks like an ever so slight misalignment of one of the doors as far as how tight it closes compared to the other door but not enough to make me want to frig with it and introduce new issues. Our GenX definitely had alignment issues.

Do you ever calculate the MPG manually? My 2018 Accord overstates MPG by 3-4mpg compared to what I calculate by hand - regardless, this Si still gets pretty amazing mileage. My 2009 Civic Si sedan normally got 29-31mpg (it was rated at 29mpg).

i have a 19 si and average 36mpg with mostly city driving. i have averaged low 40's on long road trips. Downside is that it requires premium which cost 15% more than 87 So cost per mile is the same as a car that averages 31mpg vs my 36 on premium

There was a time, i owned a more modern tiny engine turbo sedan, 2021 even. Got 45mpg without ever trying, on regular gas at that. But the actual driving experiences were so terrible...crippling in fact. That i was completely willing to sell it within a year. Back to another sports car, that runs premium and gets 25mpg. And here i am with absolutely no regrets even today.. the driving experience is first and foremost for me. No rev hang. No hill assist. No electronic e brake. No traffic assist. And i wouldn't have it any other way.

I used to own a 14 V6 Coupe. I loved that car, the biggest problem I had was the interior squeaked and rattled like crazy. Also it was an automatic which was a terrible transmission. It was really slow to shift and it would constantly up shift to highest gear possible even if you were trying to use the paddle shifters in a back road. It wouldn’t let you hold a gear you selected. If you can find one in manual, it is much better.

I think you’re just unlucky with cars lol. I got my Si in April and I don’t have any misaligned body panels. I only have 1500 miles on mine so you’re probably correct in saying you had some bad gas which caused a malfunction in the motor. Haven’t had any issues like that and hopefully I don’t. I just bought a 2020 Si coupe (10th gen) and I was considering buying a 2022 Si but there were a couple of things I liked more about the 10th gen that you mentioned in this video. Heated seats is a plus but nowhere near _the_ reason I liked the 10th gen over the 11th gen (winters in Mass. are brutally cold and this is the first car I owned that has heated seats.) Also you touched on the downgraded speedometer - I just liked the look of the 10th gen's interior overall more than the 11th gen. I hated the placement of the Infotainment screen, the way it's sticking up over the dashboard like that - just not a fan. And the exterior of the 11th gen looks too much like every other newer sedan on the road to me. Especially the rear end, sometimes it's hard to tell the difference of a 2022 Civic and 2022 Accord when I'm driving because they look so similar. Even the interiors look the same... Also, my coupe has the camera on the passenger mirror which I thought was a novelty until I realized it's value on the highway switching lanes at speed. I've owned a 1998 Civic EX coupe (SOHC V-Tech) and loved it. I remember drag racing an Integra as a kid and smoking him. I also owned a 2003 Civic LX sedan and it was a downgrade, nowhere near as fun. For some reason the road noises from the interior in the 2003 sedan I remember were just like you're experiencing - they happen when they want to, and when they do they are very noticeable. The 98 coupe felt solid, no interior noise even when I had 17" rims on it. The road noise from the stock 18" rims is loud, compared to like 15" or 16" rims on my parents 2019 Elantra - but it's not a deal breaker. The gas mileage is great on the 10th gen as well, I get around 35+ mpg with almost all back-road driving. I also liked the coupe because it's original and they stopped making them... (I guess Honda didn't see a reason to continue the coupes because of their sales, which is a shame...) The only thing I wish I knew before buying the coupe was the lack of third-party development on the exterior, but the engine is what I care about most now... and thankfully there is enough stuff available to keep me happy. I see a lot of sedans on the road (10th gen & now 11th gen) both Si and a even a few Type R's... but not a lot of coupes. And when I do, it's usually a Sport or Sport Touring, not an Si. I wanted to stand out a little bit by owning something different, and I'm glad I did. Plus it's just a fun daily driver like you said. I'm not looking for a track car/race car, I just wanted something that was fun as a daily driver and just fast enough to keep me entertained. Oh, and buying a car right now I learned one thing: MSRP? LOL. Only thing that eases the pain is the MPG these 1.5L turbos produce. I can still do a lot of "spirited" driving and get great MPG. Thanks if you read my post to the end, just wanted to get some stuff off my chest I guess - and keep up the great content Tedward!

I also have over 5,000 miles on my Si. It's a lot of fun to drive. I've been driving a rental suv on vacation and I really made me realize how good my SI is. Anyways pros, shifter is wonderful, I got a low profile shift knob and it is the most chunky shifter I have felt (I've driven a Focus RS, and 2011 wrx with a short throw shifter) and the SI is the best I've felt. Handling is great, even on all season tires I was surprised how well it hooks up and grips in the rain. I also really like the interior and sound system. Front end looks great in my opinion. Plenty of aftermarket parts, and the platform seems good enough for me to add tasteful mods(right now i have a prl stage one intake, resonater delete, and shift knob, and I plan to add a conservative tune and some cosmetic stuff).Cons, the screen sometimes is terrible, it's slow and Android auto sometimes breaks. Clutch is hard to tell when it's disengaging, it seems like it's inconsistent. It is very light which is nice. Back end spoiler isn't my favorite. Rev hang is a little annoying especially when full throttle.

Yesterday I found out that it had an open diff by sorta tripoding onto a friends steep driveway and just hearing wheelspin Even though it's a base model, it's a hella lot of fun to drive, reasonably weighted steering, weighs just over 1100kg and has enough torque. The heated seats, sweet stereo, and other features are important to me, and although the price gap between the two is significant hefty at MSRP, the Integra feels more tempting and feels like a better deal when it's hard to find an Si without a hefty markup. My question is this: what have you done, if anything, to treat or prevent against rust? I know you're a fellow Southern New England driver, so seeing someone who deals with the same roads, salt, and weather conditions is pretty cool! Figured I would sell it when it came time to move. A few days ago it spun a rod bearing and I’m not going to fix it. Could not find a dealer that had a Si in stock who would sell it for less than $5k over sticker. Some are asking 10! So I found a dealer selling an Integra A-spec at MSRP plus $600 worth of stuff for $2000. I test drove it and have to say I was disappointed, especially after positive reviews from you, Savage Geese, Every Day Driver and just about everyone else. For me me the clutch pedal had less feel then my sim rig and the engine was such an appliance. Which you kind of hinted at here. I went there in a borrowed F10 M5, so that probably did not help. With no immediate date for the move, I’m going to spend 7k more for a 16 F80 M3 6 speed. I don’t think you have ever reviewed one. I think if I did go this route, I will go with the Acura. HATCHBACK!
