How does one purchase a vehicle and find out after the purchase that it doesn't come with Navigation or under the seat storage? When you consider how much you are paying for one of these vehicles, you should know exactly what your purchasing and all of the options before you sign the contract.

Thanks for the update. I took the plunge. I traded in my 2010 F-150 Supercrew Lariat today for the 2018 Tundra Platinum. No off-roading in mind but lots of highway ahead me. I agree with your storage issue. My 150 offered plenty of secreted storage below the rear bench. As far as the alerts,I experienced them twice today so this will be a learning curve for me. As a plus, this feature will be instrumental when I loan out the vehicle to family members, no doubt. Thanks very much for sharing....I'll post accordingly. Be well!

Hi Mike, just bought an '18 SR5 w/ off road pkg. For the storage, you'll find that you can fit more than you think under the rear seats. Fold them up and slide the stuff all the way back. I have jumper cables, tow straps, first aid kit, etc. You can also use the rear door storage for some stuff. I don't think the rear seat passengers need all that door storage. I agree about the tires. I got a nail in mine within 50 miles of driving off the lot. I think they're magnets for stuff. Good grip though.
@curtlyons93104 ай бұрын
Phil if you see this, I recently bought a 2018 Tundra, and the lack of underseat storage blew me away. I was driving a 2012 Silverado and it had lot more storage there. I keep a duffle bag of truck stuff, jumper cables, tow strap... as it is now it won't fit under my rear seat. My neighbor has a 2016 with a sweet storage unit under the rear seats, but it seems like Toyota just built some kind of box to fill the space, kinda weird.
@littl32an6 жыл бұрын
The navigation issue was due to the fact you wanted the truck with “no frills”. Toyota does offer a navigation system for the tundra. My 18 has it. Because I didn’t want to deal with what you’re talking about.

I have a 2014 with 75k miles. I drive a lot of highway. I get about 17.4 combined mpg (some city involved) but I average about 19.4 mpg when using cruise control and travelling 65mph. I changed my rear diff fluid and added a tonneau cover which seems to have helped with my mpg. Love my truck! Runs great, AND (maybe some of you know what I'm talking about), I kinda like that it has a bit of a diesel sound (people say the 5.7's valve train gives off that noise). Anyway, keep enjoying your Tundra!

The tires are not meant for offloading they are meant for gas milage as most people drive their trucks on the road. If you off road you need to get Kevlar reinforced tires. If you lift your truck, it's Gunna suck at toeing trailers.

Just bought a brand new 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD 4x4 off road. It has a 6 inch lift on it with 35 inch tires and 20 inch fuel wheels. I have not had a single issue with any of the sensors, they all function great. The storage is lacking compared to other models, but that can be fixed with a tool box or decked storage system. As far as the tire goes, man come on, that can happen with any vehicle, at any time. Mine has a built in GPS with that does not run off my phone. Thanks for the videos.

Diymike, I've got a 2018 Tundra with 12K on it already and I can definitely sympathize with you on the lack of storage inside the vehicle. I ended up getting a bakflip tonneau cover with the pop n lock remote tail gate lock. As far as the PCS going off randomly, have you lowered the sensitivity? I think there's three settings to choose from in the menu. I only ask because mine has only gone off twice and only because I legitimately almost rear ended someone. Also, the TSS is pain to deal with if you're planning on lifting....and about $400 to recalibrate at the dealership (had to do this when I had the windshield replaced, insurance covered it though).

The only reason why the Tundra has a good resale value is that not a lot of them are sold compared to the F-150 and the Chevy Silverado. Durability, All trucks are good. Fords and Chevy trucks are more reliable because they can tow and haul more, they both have stronger frames, and you can expect them to get you to your destination with fewer pit stops for refueling. it still depends on how you drive your truck.

I bought a 2017 Tundra crewmax 4x4 sr5 so I understand the storage issues. Either buy a truck box or you can buy an under seat storage box but it involves cutting carpet. I had a 2012 Tacoma so I was accustom to all the storage in that truck. Also I bought a 2017 knowing I didn’t want all the collision sensors in the 2018. What size ko2’s did you buy and please do a follow up video. Thanks. Also FYI I have had 3 oil leaks in my truck. Ended up being the upper oil pan but they replaced the rear main seal first then lower oil pan gasket then upper oil pan 2 weeks ago so we’ll see if it’s actually fixed.

I couldn’t agree more with the storage issue! Toyota definitely either missed a design opportunity there or they are just simply too cheap to offer storage solutions underneath the rear seats. As for the GPS issue, you should have gone with a trim that offers entune premium with GPS. I think it’s unfair to call Toyota out when it was your decision to choose a lower trim. How about learning your route or get a Garmin before you go off-road?

Reasons I bought a Ram 1500 SLT over a Tundra using your issues. 1. Storage - the ram has storage compartment under the rear seat. 2. Collision sensor - Don't have sensors on my Ram. Have tried a Ram with sensors and there is still no issue. I notice that this is a common annoyance with all toyota models. My brother's Camry makes all sorts of weird beeps and sounds with no clear indication. 3. When it comes to tires, you can't really blame anything on the truck. Change them for a set of good all terrains. My Ram came with Good Year Wranglers and they're really good. Even been on sand with it and they're good. 4. When it comes to lift kits and stuff, any truck will give you issues if not done or installed correctly. There are plenty of good options for the Tundra, but bear in mind that a good lift kit that works with the sensors, will not be cheap. For the Ram, there are plenty of kits. Some of them are not to my taste, but I do like the stuff from AEV. 5. Toyotas infotainment systems are seriously lacking. Even a high end Lexus isn't as good as a what is on a Chevy Malibu. Ram's Uconnect is what made me get it over any other truck. Didn't like the ones on Ford or Chevy either. The Uconnect is seriously as responsive as an iphone screen and easy to operate.

No update on the Tundra til 2021 is what I heard. My 2012 crew max had storage under the rear seat. Main reason I traded mine for a 4runner is I couldn’t take the bouncy suspension on long drives, literally would make me car sick. They ever fix that?
@bean.chaleen6 жыл бұрын
Agree with everything except the lifting part. After being on the tundras.com forum for sometime it looks like they had a batch of bad sensors. Many people had no lift, but had the issues from day one. Leveled my '18 SR5 and no issues with sensors. Many people on there have lifted their '18s with no issues.

I’m guessing Toyota made one hellova truck that they don’t feel the need to change things up. I have an 07 still runs like new.

I own an '18 Tundra Crewmax Sr5 TRD Off-road as well. Recently put in a storage box under the rear seats and it was awesome. Next upgrade is the TRD Pro wheels onto it. ✌️👍

Tundra has a REAL V8 - larger displacement - LESS RPM's - LONGER LIFE. Them 2 turbos on the v6 Furds along with the Electrical/sensors are not a sustainable truck. PLUS turbos need replacing after 150,000 miles what a pile...

But that means it'll take away bed space. Which Tundra doesn't have much of already.
@Txcowboy806 жыл бұрын
@ Chriz Sea it's easily removable if you need the space. The Ram has that side box but it makes the bed unusable because it doesn't leave room for anything at all. No truck has a lot of space for tools unless you add accessories.

My 2017 Nissan Titan came with under the seat storage. Works great. I keep hitches, tow straps, tie down straps, etc. I am surprised Toyota does not have these storage compartments. Titans also have storage behind the back seats. This sounds like a downside for owning a Toyota. Maybe try aftermarket under seat storage.

I own an '18 Limited TRD Off Road that came with under seat storage and a GPS. The in dash GPS is difficult to use compared to a Garmin. I think a recall is available for the PCS. Flat tires happen. Heated and leather seats are better than I thought they would be. And a 38 gal. gas tank makes long off-roading trips less challenging. My 4th Toyota product. I was interested in a Ford but our dealer had no off road package on the lot. Did I mention that 12 more gallons of gas is a big deal.

Why? Why? Why must you keep referring to your Tundra as a "CAR"? It's a "TWUCK"!

Here i thought the Tundra would be a near perfect truck! Hmmm.. makes me think the Nissan Titan is a better choice
@skyisdlimit61256 жыл бұрын
HaSTe_CM the Titan is a better value if you don’t care much about the badge. Looks is either love or hate but the Titan pro is a great looking truck. Comes with bilstein shocks and struts, skid plate, leather seats and theirs an XD and cummins Diesel choice too, better off-road wheels and tires and a damn rear locker! with huge discount it’s easily on the high 30’s to mid 40’s Range depending on location. Nodding it to your likes is also much easier bs the new Tundra with the stupid sensors.
@garrett11446 жыл бұрын
The titan is really growing on me, I always thought I would either buy an F150 or Ram but the titan is becoming a good choice for the price and warranty. I know people with tons of miles on their older titans with no mechanical issues. They all have quirks though.

Have had two tundras now. My newer one has 84,000 miles on it with zero issues, and my 2011 had 120,000 whe I traded it in, it also never had a single issue. I’ve owned diesels and gassers of all makes and the tundra is by far the most superior vehicle I’ve owned when it comes zero maintaince issues go.
@Olph16 жыл бұрын
Under seat storage is available. The TSS can be turned off. Radar sensitivity can be adjusted. The standard tires are not off road tires and you should have aired down a bit to avoid punctures. At speed, off road, fully inflated almost anything can puncture your tires. Unless I’m mistaken scout gps is an app option but there’s standard gps as well.

I have a 2018 Toyota Tundra Limited CrewMax and I have to agree with the limited storage and pre-collision system. Storage is a joke...even the glove department is small. Not a lot of aftermarket storage devices. The collision system randomly goes off, which is annoying. It's kind of like the Amber Alerts on your phone...scares the $hit out of you when it goes off. Overall I am very happy with the truck and wouldn't buy anything else.
@Hotitalianman6 жыл бұрын
144 litre tank? How does that work for you? Makes the truck heavy. That is why I am debating whether to buy one or not. Here in Canada price of gas is 1.36 a litre. It would cost me $200 to fill up.

The tire isn’t a Tundra issue . The sensor issue with the lift add on is also not a tundra issue. Recalibrated sensors would probably perform normal once lifted. Most “trucks” won’t come with additional storage bins but can be added. My last two tundras had zero storage bins double cab and a crewmax. I made my own custom. The proximity alarms are probably a bad sensor which would be a warranty item. You can always upgrade to a proper navigation system. Those app radios suck and I wouldn’t get one ever. I hope someday I’ll be back in a Tundra. I miss my Crewmax!!
