I love how full your hair looks. I KNOW I wouldn’t have the patience to retie them. But the fullness of yours is perfect 🤌🏾. Thank your for all of your tips.

Thank you for the good information especially about the ends, no one ever told me that if I didn't braid and band my hair that it would get those fluffy ends. I hate the thin look on top and the big ends. I have such thin hair. How long do I need to band my hair once I cut it and wash it, because I'm going to cut those ends. I want layers.
@LivinDivine
@LivinDivine 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay in response, as I’m just seeing this. If your hair is fully loc’ed, you don’t need to braid and band after you clip the ends, as your hair shouldn’t unravel, but if not, I’d suggest that you continue to braid and band until it’s loc’ed. Since everyone’s hair locs at different rates, without seeing your hair, I can’t give a specific time in reference to how long you need to braid and band.

Did you adhere to a strict grid? How important do you think this is? Also, the hair near the front of my head (temple to temple) is quite thin. Should I make those locs thinner there so as to avoid weighing them down? Finally, I'm planning to add extensions to the rest ... making them match the loc size of my own hair. Your thoughts?
@LivinDivine
@LivinDivine 3 жыл бұрын
No, I did not adhere to a strict grid pattern. In my opinion, the grid pattern is great if you wear styles that are constantly showing your scalp, but I don't like that look for me, and I wanted my hair to look as close to lose natural as possible, while enjoying the freedom of locs. I'm not a fan of box braids, and a lot of parts on me, so a strict grid was not what I was going for. I really like the full look, and I thought a strict grid pattern would make it look thin, like a few people that I'd seen. My hair is also very fine and curly along the temples. Those locs are very small, and it took years for them to loc due to being soo fine. I really don't pull or put any pressure on my temple area, as not to get traction alopecia. There's parts of my temples that have no locs at all, and I don't try to loc them. I just let them stay curly, and you can't tell, as it just looks curly. In reference to extensions, they work for getting the immediate look that you want, but they significantly slow down the locing stage. I put extra hair on about 6 locs that were not as long as the rest of my hair at the beginning, for about a year, once I took them out, the part of the hair that had the extensions on them, was not loc'ed at all. The new growth was, but not the parts that had the extra hair. If you are getting braidlocs, make sure that it's not braided too tight, as the braid pattern will last a very long time.

@@LivinDivine Thank you soooo much! I needed to see this information. Anticipating having to adhere to that grid pattern was already mentally exhausting. Now I can just go.

Thank you so much for the video!! When you braid and band after washing your hair, do you have to dry your hair banded? Or can you take down the braid and band then dry it?
@LivinDivine
@LivinDivine 3 жыл бұрын
You can take it down to dry with no adverse effects, but you can also dry it in the braids to have a nice braidout.

Reading the comments hoping to get the name of the shampoo you mentioned- didn't mention 😔

It’s Joico moisturizing shampoo and treatment balm conditioner. If your hair is not fully loc’ed, do not use the conditioner, as it’s very moisturizing.
