True on the Pro 3 uppers. Blisters over the first lace hole. Started lacing by skipping that and it was all good. However, the heel lock was still an issue and decided to buy the Metaspeed Edge Paris instead.

Good video 👍 There are pictures online of the Pro 4 after Berlin. Which looked like the midsole had run several hundreds of km compared to the Pro 3 after a Marathon. Which I have a hard time believing. How does the midsole look on your pair after your Marathon 🤔 And how do you rate its durability 🤔

@@AubreyRunning Thank you for your reply 👍 Good to hear 🙂 As I wrote, I also found it very difficult to believe the truthfulness of those pictures. At least if it was after a marathon. I know they don't use the same likestrike Pro, but my Prime X version 1 which had run over 1300 km looks almost like a new pair of shoes compared to the pictures I saw of the Pro 4 after Berlin.

Yes upper on the Pro 3 would be all I needed for a bigger runner. You can change things on a shoe that aren't improvements for many people.

I've got the 3's and your right about the upper. It's took my first marathon and about 3 half's to get them comfortable but I do love them now and the mid sole and grip are amazing. Will definitely consider some 4's when these are finished.

The Pro 4 is legit… especially if you just look at it as its own shoe in its own right
@mfcc1084Ай бұрын
My problem with the Pro 3 upper is getting a locked-in fit while getting a good heel lockdown. I usually solve this by using thicker socks but getting the right upper fit takes time in the Pro 3. Aside from that, everything in the Pro 3 is great. I love it and I have 3 pairs of it. I'm glad that the Pro 4 improved the upper. I got a good lockdown but I still did the runners knot just like in the Pro 3s. The midsole is softer. It's like a broken-in LSP right out of the box and it has a softer ride than the Pro 3. The grip of the Lighttraxion rubber is excellent. My first run in the Pro 4 is a very rainy 10km race and I never slipped. Everything about the Pro 4 so far is great. My concern is that softer Lightstrike Pro. I am a heavy runner and usually I bottom out soft foams like the ZoomX of the VF3. The durability is also a concern for me because they gave it full rubber coverage in the outsole probably to protect it. In conclusion the Pro 4 made the right updates. It has improved the Pro 3's most glaring weakpoint: the upper. This will be enjoyed by a lot of runners in my opinion. Congratulations to your Berlin Marathon finish! Keep up the good work and sorry for this long comment. 😅

The upper and laces could have easily been updated in the 3 and it would have been perfect for many. Not a fan of softer shoes and really don't think this will be an improvement in stability and ride for quite a number of average bigger runners. The pro 3 durability was unmatched as the midsole actually kept getting better and better and not too soft. Change a shoe to be softer like this and it won't be better for many. I expect to see this play out in reviews after the initial excitement and hype. But we'll see I'll remain open minded to seeing how it goes for everyone paying for the new ones.
@AubreyRunningАй бұрын
I think you raise a good and fair point and one that people must indeed consider. In my view, I don’t think the changes they have made makes it unstable at all but that’s just to me (a massive max stack shoe fan). Having ran in both, I prefer the 4 over long distances
@peterledrew2556Ай бұрын
@@AubreyRunning a softer shoe is inherently more unstable so that's one con in comparison to Pro 3. I think the width helps the Pro 4 to compensate for that just as it helped the Pro 3 but I just feel like brands going with a softer new super foam isn't the answer for many. I'm here for the opinions and thoughts though and will see what unfolds before I decide on spending a lot of money on pro 4. Good to hear you and some others love it so far.
@AubreyRunningАй бұрын
@@peterledrew2556 yes sir… I agree. I think the wide base, the rods and overall construction mitigates that very well. This one is definitely not an unstable ride
@peterledrew2556Ай бұрын
@@AubreyRunningyes and the improved upper must add up to a better foot hold I imagine, adding some stability. I have some credit on my Adidas account so I'll be considering them in 2025.
@aveenmahabalАй бұрын
I really like the Lightstrike Pro on the Prime Strung 2 and Adios Pro 3. They seem like they will last 600km. The reason I wont buy Nike Alphafly/Vaporfly is that their foam lasts just 200km. I hope this new AP4 Light strike pro which you say is soft is not like the Nike and with poor longevity.
@AubreyRunningАй бұрын
We will have to see, I’m not sure at this point, all I know is that it feel great but as you say… for how long
@TolunayOrkunАй бұрын
It was nice to see your progression from "Aubrey the very average runner", to "Aubrey the average runner" to "Aubrey the runner". As for AP3 vs AP4, while I see it is a nice evolution but it is not an EVO 1. It is surprising that it took a long time (after a failed AP4 in 2023). The shoe does have the looks of AP EVO and while AP4 has a more airy formulation of Lightstrike Pro, it has none of the foam used in EVO 1. There were prototypes that showed a layer of that EVO foam but final product does not have any of it. I wonder how many Adidas Elites will actually move to AP4 (other than training purposes) because it will be inferior to EVO 1. On the other hand, for non-elites, AP4 offers an incremental value but when AP4 is finally available beyond this Berlin marathon initial limited release, AP3 will be a better value. Oh, BTW, one thing to clear about your other video. The outsole of AP4 only has Continental Rubber in the red/orange piece. The rest is not continental rubber. It is Lighttraxion rubber. Not as grippy but probably a bit lighter (and hopefully a bit more durable)
