Super. 😂 The attitude that comes along with that saying is part of why I’m going to try to move to Colorado after my mother’s cancer resolves. Growing up, I’d think the church ladies were nice to me because they were mom’s friends, and we’re just worried about her not being able to go (she’s always been sick, but the cancer is new). They’d insist on petting my hair and pump me for info about Mom, exchange knowing looks over my head. It was an absolute snake pit. My personal experience hasn’t been super. They say the right things to have a respectable veneer, but most won’t be caught dead doing something kind if they won’t get praise for it or get in the paper or something. “Bless Your Heart,” is just the epitome of that mentality. Ick.
