Our old friend came in for an inspection & tune up after being put through its paces, this road monster and custom-fabbed classic is beautiful and earns respect. A 5.0L Coyote and T56 six-speed transmission, under the direction of mentor Don Hipple they set the firewall back two inches and raised the trans tunnel two inches, then modified the pedal assembly for the Coyote swap. As you can imagine it is a lot of fun to drive and helped a lot of kids in the Rebuilding Generations program to learn skills and become future enthusiasts in car culture.
Chassis-wise, Detroit Speed (DS) got the nod for its Aluma-Frame, shock tower delete kit, subframe connectors, DS/JRi shocks, and sway bars, and Baer 6S six-piston brake calipers with 14-inch rotors on all four corners were used.
After some body modifications and smoothing all the Sheetmetal, at Neil’s Rod & Customs of Emmitt, ID sprayed the Checkered Red paint by PPG. Charley Hutton of PPG had to say about the color, something between to the original color and a Candy apple Red.
Once the car was all done, it was displayed at SEMA 2016 and then participated in the Optima Ultimate Streetcar Invitational in the exhibition (non-competitive) class.
