@@StefiCohen I usually deadlift with kettlebells I've only twice did deadlift 125kgs on an 80kg body weight ( mind the maximum weight on the kettlebells we use at the gym is 40kg so that's 80kgs since it's double deadlift ) . I have to say Sarah's technique was quite smooth, no offense to Kristen and all ( bloody hell her legs are massive xD )

Impressive,I like how Stefi dead lifted some quietly you could not hear it at one point. Also everyone one else has said it but the way Sarah could lift with her fingers is amazing. When I got heavy I need my straps so this old man can hold on. My hand grip is awful and my heavy is what they were working out with. I Kristen doing the pause dead lift was something Im not sure I could do.

Hi Stefi, I've just rejoined the gym after 6 years away from weight lifting. Your videos gave my the push to get back in there. I'm 6.1 with tight hamstrings so always struggled with conventional. I started trying Sumo for the first time this week and noticed a difference. Glad this video is out so I can try learn the proper sumo form :)
@jeffk47104 жыл бұрын
Wait you do weightlifting or powerlifting?
@HighCarbDiabeticV4 жыл бұрын
@@jeffk4710 Hi Jeff, I always did a mixture. From powerlifting side, I would do back squats & deadlifts but I could never do a barbell bench, I just don't have the frame for it. Instead the barbell bench, I always did dumbbell press instead & could lift way more with proper form & felt safer. I find that I could work my pecs better by getting a better stretch on the bottom portion. I'll never lift anything impressive, just doing it for myself. With deadlifts, the most I ever got to was about 150kg for 6 reps, I was always too scared to try 1 rep maxes & go all out in case I popped a disc. At the moment, I can only do 90kg as I've not deadlifted in so long & I want to try build up proper form.

Not a big fan ofnl sump deadlifts, but I've been recently doing them and what I do is stand on a platform thats elevated to have a greater range of motion such as an Olympic deadlift. For me that greater range of motion targets the muscles even more.

Stefi I have a question I do the pause on the way down, I never thought to pause on the way up. Moving the bar off the floor is much more difficult than going down and back up so it seems your way takes more effort to stop and continue going up than to stop on the way down.

Stefi is doing a sumo squat, while holding onto the bar. Looks like a lot of leg drive. Kristen is taller, so she needs to lean over more and probably doesn't have the same lower back strength as a body builder. Stefi has a height advantage. Kristen doesn't have the bone architecture or muscle flexibility to spread the knees far enough, and/or, she is more dominant in other muscles, so they want to come in during the lift. She probably is use to doing muscle isolation and reps than lifting compound lifts for 3 rep maxes. Sarah is more like Stefi in form, but she is taller, so she has to lean over more. There might also be some natural differences in lat angle attachment, smaller waist or some degree of spinal kyphosis for Kristen versus the other two who might have more stout builds and can get more spinal extension.

I just had a dead lifting session with a couple friends in their garage. Do you take 2 to 3 hours like we do to deadlift and max out?
@juliawilliams13554 жыл бұрын
@Luke yeet no its not. When you're attempting high weights you need long rest periods and to make sure you warm up properly. Also if you're a competitive lifter it helps to practice taking as long as 10-15 minutes between lifts because you may face that on the platform.
