Brings me back immediately to 1974 back home in Brooklyn, N.Y. when I was 14 and later years in my 20's walking past the Dakota building to and from school and work. I will never tire of listening... hauntingly etheral.

This song is so hauntingly beautiful. John's voice was so magickal. John Lennon was a genius, and on this day, December 6, is the very sad anniversary death of John Lennon. This song is one of the many songs that I love listening to John sing. He was my favorite Beatle and still is. I saw the Beatles when they first toured the USA. Girls were screaming, but I tuned them out and sat in awe watching and listening to the Fab Four perform back in 1964 and I was a mere 13 year old. I have missed you all these years.

according to May Pang , "Yoko Ono has released a DVD with all of Lennon's clips. Consider the fact that there really are no videos made for the songs. These songs were made before MTV. She included the song "Number 9 Dream" on the DVD and prepared a clip. Well, during the part where I call John's name, she put herself in the video by dubbing the word "John." So if you do not know that I'm part of the process, you think it's Yoko's voice in the song ... of course. All because you've never heard another woman's voice in his songs besides hers."

Probably just an inaccurate perspective. This song is roughly 50 years old. I grew up in the 70s, grew up with the Beatles, and just now had a rough time learning it's name after hearing it on the radio this week. For many (like me) this song is iconic, yet unless you're a fluent Beatles/Lennon fan, it slips through the memory until it's jarred back by hearing it again. It's just not as famous as "Hey Jude" or "Get Back", certainly doesn't make it any less of a song.
