Western culture is different than ours. In West, most children live on their own after a certain age, hence getting married and living with the partner is not that emotional for them. In India, most children live with their parents until they get married and thats why it's more emotional that her house/relationships change drastically. Infact in East India, in certain section of society, its the groom that leaves his parent's house and live with the girl's family. Add to that, the idea of arranged marriage.

From what I've seen of this film (DHADKHAN), Shilpa is manipulated by her father to get married to a man of his choosing, and that is why she looks terrified, or heartbroken even. Her mother is understanding, but is unable to stand up to her stubborn husband, because he threatens to kill himself if his daughter marries the man she loves. I don't think I could hug my father the way she did after that. You're absolutely right, the style of singing is 'Qawwali', and it derives from Sufism. This type of music and singing is mostly devotional. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan became an International icon for his 'Qawwali' singing, and he performed live at many prestigious venues around the world including the Royal Albert Hall :)

Brides are usually very nervous and yes to some extent terrified even as they have to leave their family, their old home, had to change their life to go to a new home to spend it with their partner and his family..there are added responsibilities,added expectations..It's not that they lose connection from their parents, she still has her old family but priorities change..The house which was her home whole life becomes her maternal home..It's a bittersweet moment for every girl where there is happiness of getting your life partner but pain of going away from parents.. Here she was so upset because she had to leave her first love and marry the guy of her father's choice.. She is heartbroken from leaving her love and her family both although later it turns out that her father indeed chose the best ever guy for her but at this point she is sad...

In India, a girl's life changes after marriage. Once she was a family member in her parents home after marriage she becomes a guest in her parents home and becomes a family member in her husband's home. This over night change in girl's life makes her and her parents emotional at the time of leaving her parents home.

That's why divorce rates remain low in India .. as so many people are emotionally involved in your wedding . Just imagine that if there is so much weeping on a happy occasion .. what's gonna happen if the couple decides that they are bored of each other. If you get divorced for petty reasons then your family name is ruined and nobody would want to have any future alliance with your family .. there is a lot at stake. But if marriage is abusive .. then only divorce is acceptable to society by and large.

It does feel like a loss in a real life too. Been through it and no matter how far or close you live, it is just difficult to leave your childhood home and family. In this case there is not only the pain of leaving the family but also the fact that her marriage was forceful

No it's not like that ,they can't come back from their husbands house to her father's house, they can come but not for much days. One day they have to go back to their husbands house. So this is the grief that she is leaving her father her mother. And the house where she was since the birth but now onwards this is not her home. Now her home is her husband's home. This is the after merriage ritual know as vidaai or bidaai ( means she is going to say good bye to her parents and her home) 😊

Yess they can meet anytime they want, as in indian culture children’s doesn’t leave their parents untill unless they have job in other city. So the girl leave their parents at the time of marriage. Qawali is a form of singing quite special with meaningful lyrics Before there was often a qawali in many indian movies but nowadays qawalis have almosy disappeared in films Coming to the wedding scene itself iy is called bidaai or rukhsati What happened on oldet times is that often when a girl from a village got married to some guy from another village she would not have the opportunity to visit her parents for years and maybr fr z whole lifetime Thats why bidaai songs are always so emotional because they are so meaningful When hindus get married they make seven vows and in the last one they wsh that their coffin comes out of their hiusbands house meaning that they hope to spend their whole life with the husband and never break their weddng
