I think part of the issue missing from the convo about sex in marriage is that men can often use sex as a stress as reliever or a coping mechanism for life issues masking as having a “higher sex drive” than their partner. Men need to be honest about that. Hence the need for more self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and therapy. Women’s bodies are not tools. Sexual intimacy is a source for connection, reproduction, and more. So let’s bring this fact into the convo too because it’s def overlooked.

Being a single woman hoping to be a wife one day I am grateful to God for these types of videos. We need more married couples having these types of talks on social media and giving good advice to people who are either married or looking to get married. I realize that there are so many single people who don’t know what it means to be a wife or husband or what submission in marriage really is. "I'm being serious too" "You don't feel challenged" 😂 Preston is too much! It don't take but a little for him, the way he has the hots for his wife and she blushes everytime its so adorable. This was a great conversation. When I was married I did withhold sex as punishment but it was also because I noticed a pattern in my husband where he was spiritually and emotionally "dumping" inside of me and it was a transferring of energy. So no when you had a bad day at work I don't want you to blow my back out because then you feel better and now I feel like crap. When instead we could've prayed about it together or something else. I just got tired of feeling like a dumpster and I had nowhere to place my worries, fears, or things that frustrated me. I was going to God double time because I was carrying his burdens and mine but he wasn't going to the cross on my behalf. I would have rather us war together through prayer and also in the bedroom.

I prayed so hard to have a boyfriend and someone show me love since I was feeling so lonely. I put the work in to fix myself from the trauma I had experienced that trapped me into not deserving love. This year has been my yes year for going out and trying new things. I went out to the golf range with my friend not having showered for like 4 days, no makeup, stanky and ended up meeting an amazing guy who loves me for who I am. Th convo about attraction is so necessary. I agree with Ki that liking someone who looks like you is natural and normal but to say specifically you don’t want the very look that you have is very telling of some deeper issues. Attractions are shaped, as a teacher I monitor so much of what we watch and I have seen how my little kids began to prefer vanilla skin because that is who you see on your favorite shows. I have been on a mission since to find brown people who do educational videos. That’s just an example of how biases are formed.

Thank you for this podcast. This episode especially. I'm a 19 year old male. I used to identify as bisexual and God saved me from that. Coming into a church space (in university) has been so awkward for me especially where I see so many young Christians dating and Sinning in a heterosexual manner and it is accepted. I've just had so much insecurity when it came to dating because I'm generally not attracted to most women (especially sexually)and I've been asked about it a lot. It's just been a prayer in my heart. I want a relationship but I don't know with who because I haven’t connected with anyone. I partially think it's out of fear but I don't know. I have a lot of sisters in christ that build me up and vice versa and I'm always questioned as to why I'm not in a relationship with any of them, what Mr Azonwu said about treating your sisters in Christ well without the expectation of marriage has just affirmed me that I'm on the right path. What a great vid. I love how God puts 2 ppl together n they balance each other. My marriage started as 2 unbelievers then I became a believer n it was not easy to be patient and sit back have faith in Christ that He would work on my husband's heart. Sure enough now we are both born again, loving the Lord errday. Lol The sex life changed but it was my husband who wasn't as active as I was loll...little did I know it was God's perfect plan to work on me!! I had a problem, I relied on sex for confirmation, validation etc. God was working on me to rely only on Him! After 10+ yrs we are on the same page. God is so good on everything He does!

When Jackie talked about smoking after being saved it really resonated with me, I grew up in church but only attended to be a good daughter, I was the golden child in peoples faces then did whatever I wanted in private Cus no one suspected me, even after I encountered the lord I kept smoking but I began to always feel tormented when I did I would always feel highly anxious and hear voices that sounded like people arguing, It was almost never a good experience but I just wouldn’t stop, I continued for a bout a year, I would smoke vapes too and would never take anyone seriously that warned me against it as I couldn’t find anything in the bible that explicitly warned against it. at first I threw away all my grinders and papers but after a while I started university and had more freedom than ever and would smoke a lot with friends, it still was an anxious experience but I wouldn’t stop, like Jackie I would smoke whenever anxious bored or upset, it would “heighten” my creativity, but also my anxiety. It felt almost like routine like I had to. Even if I didn’t want to. It took me a while to stop and I jumped around with how often I’d do it, I’d limit myself and stopped vapes but picked up cigarettes, really and truly I was only smoking to distract myself from feeling, I was emotionally mature for other people but totally emotionally irresponsible with myself and used smoking to help me bypass my feelings even more. as of now I haven’t smoked in about a month and a half and this is the longest I’ve gone in the last 2 years, Thank you God

Maybe because I'm plus size, but sometimes I feel like people in church can be fat phobic. When i got married I Expected, somwhat for the world to question my beauty and my husband's attraction towards me, but when the people at church did it it hurt more and made me question for years if my husband really wanted me and had me waiting for the ball to drop. Almost 15 years later we are still together but i still think about how people around me and in the church didn't believe that i deserved the kind of love that my husband has for me because of my size.

Validating you in this. Because I’ve personally heard my pastor use disparaging remarks towards big people, specifically Lizzo. Don’t listen to her music, so I had no real reason to be offended other than the fat phobic comments. Half the congregation is overweight or obese, so it really shines a light on how people secretly judge/discriminate. Very sad
