I know it's weird but goodwill shopping, Walmart, motels, "boring" suburban neighborhoods, trick or treating, it's all just so FUN to me. Real life vegan here: You're right, shaming people is not the way to get people to do what you want them to do. Even though the way their message was delivered was not the most compassionate, I understand what they are saying. I believe that ultimately you ARE preventing harm by abstaining from eating animals AND you can avoid further harm by avoiding eating other animal products (dairy, eggs, honey, etc.) If you are transitioning to veganism, GOOD FOR YOU! Transitions can take time and every step counts. Also, thanks for this slice of Americana. ❤️

@@isitlina Yes, avoid industrial farming of anything as much as possible. That goes for meat, dairy, eggs, honey and even grains and produce. I saw some bee farming myself in the Balkans and I understand what you are saying about it being done well. I believe that *most of the time* is so so good! Why the need to be so perfectionist? It's okay if you have diary-icecream once in a while when you are mostly plant-based the rest of the time! I think this community and way of thinking about it is holding so many people back... If everyone were to just cut back on their animal consumption, that would make a much bigger difference than having a couple hard core vegans. (in my opinion)

exactly!! shaming people is never going to save anybody, as much as i emphasize with vegans and i understand that people can survive plant-based without harming any animal, its still hard to survive in day to day circumstances. we don't just live in a world where animals are slaughtered and abused, humans face this daily too in MANY situations, and we unconsciously exaggerate by trying to be stable without even knowing what sources can help us. I mean how are we going to save animals as a society when we can't even put that impact on ourselves as a society? It all begins within and real self-love, and everybody needs to understand that if they want a better world!

Part of our travel to Paris and other Western European countries was the simple figuring-out of everyday things: using European appliances at the apartment, using a laundromat, the pay machine at a parking garage, ordering food, it goes on-and-on. We know how to “do” America, but learning to “do” other countries was so much fun! Can’t wait to travel again, if they’ll have us!
