This episode hurts me worse than normal people. Ok so when I was around 6 I was playing around on a playground with those wood chips that are "safer" than those small pebbles. As I was running, I fell (as any kid would) but in some freak incident, one of the wood chips found it's way through the skin of my thumb. Like the ENTIRE wood chip through the skin and muscle (I may be remembering wrong but even my family said it was large and deep). Anyway I ran to my dad crying telling him I had to go to the hospital and he just RIPPED IT OUT, causing mass bleeding and intense pain. We wrapped it in bandage and left it like that for a few weeks. Anyway, I can't watch this episode. Too relatable.

I hate this episode, but it had ONE funny part. It was: "Dear SpongeBob, You're an idiot. Love, Squidward." That is perhaps the greatest line in this history of post-movie.

Here's my version of the Splinter. Instead of Spongebob feeling the pain of the splinter or even seeing his thumb turn red, he just noticed it and asks Mr Krabs to see if he can pull it out. Mr Krabs tries to pull it out but with no success. He then asks everyone in Bikini Bottom (with only just a dollar each turn). However, no one in Bikini Bottom is able to pull out the splinter. Not even the toughest people in Bikini Bottom (not even from the No Weenies Allowed episode) or the strongest machines like construction vehicles could pull the splinter out. Thoughout the entire sequence, Spongebob does not feel anything from the splinter. Mr Krabs even tried to use other items to get rid of it like acid or sea termites or even Sandy having teeth capable of biting through wood. Sandy then analyzes the splinter and the only solution is to find the wisest fish in Bikini Bottom. They eventually head for the wisest fish and he told them only Spongebob can remove it. Spongebob tried to remove it but it doesn't seem to work. He tried harder but then his arm came off and then another one grows back. That was the solution. He has no idea what to do with the splintered arm but then Mr Krabs had an itch on his back and he used the splintered arm to scratch it. It may not be the best I have written but it's better than having to look at Spongebob's pain and the veins.

BRRGames No, in this 11 minute nightmare, I'd write it so, SpongeBob gets his splinter, and Sandy goes to do karate with him, but he turns it down and asks Sandy to pull the splinter out. She tries, but she fails. Then he cries and smacks into the door and his arm with the splinter falls off, and he grows a new arm with no splinter. The end. I'd write is as a 4-minute episode here and shorten Slide Whistle Stooges and put in an episode called "The New Factory" where Plankton builds a factory to steal the formula. Somehow...

No, One Course Meal is the worst. Mr. Krabs literally drives Plankton *TO SUICIDE,* and it turns out, that was his plan all along in the episode. And then, Mr. Krabs thinks it's wrong that Plankton brought out a mime to scare Krabs.

Tango All right, which is worse: Patrick chasing down and abusing Gary, or Krabs torturing Plankton to suicide? Plankton really isn't even a villain anymore. Krabs is. And this is the episode where people noticed that. Patrick had been hurtful stupid for a while before the episode. And people knew this. But before One Course Meal, Krabs was still seen as an iffy character, he can be bad, or he can be good. And this episode changed that. After this, his character most likely will be seen as the villain. Patrick at least had a reason, he became more and more stupid throughout the seasons. He thought he was doing good. Krabs knew he was doing evil.

batman88891 I'll tell you what's worse: The Card. An Episode that says that Patrick's stupidity was, is, and always will be a facade. And considering what he did in episodes like Pet Sitter Pat, Stuck in the Wringer, and Oral Report... not to mention Big Sister Sam, Yours, Mine, and Mine, Pat No Pay, I'm With Stupid, Karate Star and Squidtastic Voyage, yeah. He's being like this on purpose trying to kill those who we thought he loved, found favor in or actually cared about. It may not be the worst episode of my list (It's 8th Place), but it's definitely high up.

batman88891 Okay 2 things. 1) Just because Mr. Enter thinks and says it doesn't mean it's predominantly true. 2) Patrick admitting he was pretending to be stupid IS worse than Mr. Krab's performance in One Coarse Meal. That was one episode. The Card carries over to ALL episodes where Patrick was being either pretentious or reprehensibly stupid. We know he actively tried to make Spongebob's splinter worse. We know he knew the townspeople did nothing wrong in Shuffleboarding and that he did it just for the hell of it. We now know he was actively torturing Spongebob's desire for card #54 in The Card. Mr. Krabs did a lot of awful crap, sure, but that was out of greed. Besides, Plankton isn't in the right, either. As for why One Coarse Meal is 3rd place in my top 60 most hated Spongebob episodes list, Plankton does and doesn't deserve to feel the way he did. In early Spongebob, he dreamt of killing people by his foot. In the freaking movie, he nearly had HIS former childhood friend executed using King Neptune. One Coarse Meal more or less can be seen either as Plankton being tortured for damn near nothing, or the ultimate payback for trying to plunge Bikini Bottom (or the whole world) into his darkness. In other words, Mr. Krabs isn't even completely in the wrong in One Coarse Meal. And as much as I'd hate to say it, it actually does give full justification for Mr. Krab's actions. Patrick could never get that kind of depth because his stupidity was fake. And that's as far as the story goes.

I saw it, and my biggest problem with the episode is how lackluster the writing is. All it is just filler, Spongebob attempting to get a splinter out of his thumb, Patrick attempting to do it and falling horribly, and that's it. Lackluster writing galore.

I think you hit the nail on the head for my thoughts when Spongebob started going downhill. I vaguely realized that there seemed to be a lot more "meh" new episodes than unusual, but of course I figured that they couldn't REALLY be bad, since it's Spongebob (other than a few specific episodes, like the one where Sandy builds a machine that ends up fusing Spongebob and Squidward and eventually all of Bikini Bottom into a grotesque mess -- I had a hard time accepting that one as part of the show).

hey i'm a kid and i can tell when a show like spongebob screws up, my favorite one being eather "Wet Painters" or that one with the night lights. also i like some episodes from 4 onward. my favrite from them being "Squid Baby" and also i like most cartoons from the 90's. like courage the cowardly dog or dexter's lab. man! i had to be born in 2001. i REALLY want to sit back on a friday and watch cartoon guys host "Cartoon Cartoon Fridays." now THERE is proof that i LOVE old shows and some new ones.

In season 6, though, we kicked it off ripping off Squidward's toenail in House Fancy, and that led to crap like The Splinter, Squidward's grotesque pimply arm with a pulsating vein in Choir Boys, the gross out in Pets or Pests, and finished off with SpongeBob's stinky breath in The Clash of Triton. Not to mention, other various disgusting forms of gross out along the way. It seemed like the two biggest reoccurring problems in season 6 were gross out, and Squidward Torture Porns.

That's because when you watch Ren and Stimpy, you would have expected to see some extreme gross and violent moments because you know that's what it shows from the start. While in SpongeBob, it was originally suppose to show stuff that kids could feel comfortable to watch and wouldn't expect to see anything graphic. So because of that, SB fans were disgustedly surprise to see the 'Splinter' episode, it was like a Pearl Harbor surprise attack to them. You know what I mean?

Here is my list on the WORST Scumbob episodes: Pet or Pests, The Splinter, House Fancy, To Love a Patty, Face Freeze, The Good Krabby Name and Are You Happy Now? That last episode is so disturbing, Squidward attempts to commit suicide 3 TIMES! First he tries to rot himself by sleeping under his bed for weeks, then he tries burning himself in the oven and after that HE GOES TO HANG HIMSELF!!!!

I loved spongebob and I still (kinda) do and as a younger kid whenever I didnt like an episode I would agree to stay away from it but continue watching the show, that was the same case with other shows too.

Yeah, and to think they banned an episode of Ren and Stimpy because there was a scene where Ren "violently" beats George Liquor with an oar! That scene wasn't violent at all compared to House Fancy! There was no blood or close ups of detailed grotesque scenes! It was just Ren beating Mr. Liquor with an oar. All he got was a black eye and hiss teeth knocked out. Squidward however got blood all over the place and his toenail ripped off, but THAT episode wasn't banned! WTF?!?!?!
