Little trivia, when Higgins is naming where all the players are from, they are really the hometowns of the actors playing them. Such a sweet touch.

Not only one of the best episodes of the series, but one of my fave Xmas episodes! ♥

This is one of my favourite Ted Lasso episodes. Up until I have seen 3x06. It was my favourite. I love the Christmas dinner and the Higginses, his speech was perfection. But pretty much every frame of this episode was spot on.

This episode came out when I was doing absolutely miserably in life for a little bit. It has immediately entered my rotation of things to watch every holiday season forever. The kindness in this one is beautiful.

The writers already had the whole season 2 planned before the show was renewed. When AppleTV renewed for a 2nd season, they asked for 12 episodes instead of 10 like in the 1st season. So they added this episode and another one later in the season, which are the only 2 episodes that don't really have any plot development

The scene with Roy, Keely and Phoebe is what got me to watch the show. I came across it on TikTok and that scene had me crying 😂.

Which one? You talking about the scene where Roy tells Phoebe he thinks she's going to die

@@lewismaddox4132 Yes. I believe the episode just came out, it was clipped and put on TikTok. Found out what show it was watched the first episode was hooked.

That dance scene is just too much for my heart, I swear. But I died of laughter when Keely and Roy poorly hid their reactions to Phoebe's bad breath XD

You will not look like a fool. You are appropriately dressed for what I think is among the best character-driven episodes in the series. We learn so much about so many characters and the scenes are great. Christmas in London looks so beautiful too.

What Jamie said was an hilarious, Tart-style bastardization of a famous line from the classic Christmas movie (actually based on a book that's been made into movies over 50 times (most titled either A Christmas Carol or Scrooge, or some variation on those)). The original book is by Charles Dickens. The original line isn't what Jamie said.

The present letter. I used to do this, back when I could afford to. You go to the post office and they have Santa letters there with addresses. You pick up some letters, buy presents for a kid and drop them off outside their house (I did it in the city, so it was kind of ring, drop, honk and run, and a couple of packages I just mailed.)

It makes good sense that, in a world in which kindness, compassion, and understanding can save the day, Santa would absolutely exist.

Don’t worry about looking like a fool wearing a Christmas shirt in April, Ted Lasso did a Christmas episode in July. You’re in the right place.

This was one of the two bonus episodes for Season 2. Loved this episode too. I am all for watching Christmas shows anytime during the year. The second bonus episode has a different opening as well. No spoilers from me.

The screaming is the film Ted's watching, It's a Wonderful Life. Which I think you'd love, if you haven't seen it. It's a thematically appropriate moment for the episode. Would even be a good reaction film.

I agree that you would love this film! Classic 'oldie' with one of Hollywood's most iconic actors (Jimmy Stewart 🙂).

Ohhh that makes so much sense!! I was wondering why Ted was so non chalant about someone screaming but also confused why Rebecca would have screamed in the first place
@theroomstops Жыл бұрын
And also Rebecca shows up at the point of the movie exactly when the lead character is about to meet his guardian angel. (And as a wardrobe Easter egg: she is wearing earrings in the shape of angel wings in that scene).

Next episode is my favorite of Season 2. Also don't worry about wearing a Christmas shirt in April. I was listening to Christmas music a couple of days ago. And this very episode was first released in August.

One thing I really love in this episode: In Ted's office, when he cheerfully says what his plans are, Rebecca gets such a dark/sad look on her face that you KNOW she's reading between the lines. It's subtle and easy to miss, but once you know it's there, you can almost hear a monologue in her head. "That was me last year, and this man is so much more vulnerable, I must help him."
@fayesouthall6604 Жыл бұрын
Bingo, that’s why rather than suggest it at the time, she waited until later in the day. She knew.

Their baggage matches right up so she gets it. I looove them in this episode because being of help to others is exactly what Ted would need. That’s what feeds his soul, so for Rebecca to give that to him is so lovely.

Yeah, everybody pointed out pretty much everything I wanted to so no need to repeat. But one more fun fact is, apparently, one of the writers for the show and Jason Sudeikis met each other at a charity event similar to the one in this episode. So delivering gifts to kids door to door is a real charity that exists in New York.

The joke about Jan Maas bringing fried chicken is because the Dutch are ... direct/straightforward (or autistic) so everyone explains how their dish is important to them/their family, or their dish fits their personality, so higgins asks Jan Maas if fried chicken is a traditional Dutch christmasss meal, Jan Maas takes it as a straightforward question so answers that it isn't, and then does not expand on the answer, while Higgins waits expectantly for Jan to make small talk by explaining why he brought chicken. A lot of the things involving Jan Maas through the show are like this, it is pretty recognisable if you are Dutch or work with them.
