Hi Lesley and Jordy, The yellow pot on the stove is made in France as you said by Le Creuset. My husband Will has a large collection of the original red Le Creuset. It’s lovely to look at and wonderful to cook with. I enjoy watching your videos virtually exploring abandoned places. Best wishes, Sandy

The wine is only viable if keep at a constant temp and humidity level. Which they may have, but the two bottles shown are drinking wines, not collector wines. So the wine isn't worth much more than when it was bought.

Why are so many places abandoned with everything left behind? It seems so strange that no one would want these places.

Death. Infirmity: physical or mental illness requiring hospitalization. Children living overseas and unable/unwilling to sell or to deal with the property of a parent who died or entered a long term care facility. Property haunted by spirits or entities unwilling to move on. These are just a few potential reasons for abandoning places.

The reasons vary, but probate taxes after a loved one has passed are quite high in Europe and some relatives cannot afford the taxes so they let the property go to the government.

@michaelpatterson5811 3 жыл бұрын
@@Susitamarie You are right, Susi - the Dutch have been making these things for 300 years. They call it a 'braadplan' or a 'sudderplan' (a simmering pan). In 1891 a Dutch company started to make them under the 'BK' brand-name. In 1925 two Belgians opened a foundry in Picardy (north-east France) to make Dutch ovens with a coloured glaze - the first ones were orange, to reflect the colour of the moulten cast iron which in French was called 'le creuset'. They took that as the brand name - and you can see it imprinted on the pot in the video. Thanks for raising this interesting bit of history. Michael.

Hi Lesley, Bros of Decay, Again such a wonderful explore video from one of my favourite explorers! - I already liked the start in that French cottage, where you spent together with your explorer friend the night. That is actually a very beautiful place looking nice and cozy. - The carride added a little bit of a roadmovie vibe to your video, when your were driving on that road, and the sun was slowly rising. - Beautiful! - In the abandoned French mansion I managed to see through your eyes the beauty behind the very advanced decay, that was visible everywhere in the house. - Especially the living room and the dining room with this antique furniture were so beautiful to see, and of course the "pleasure room" with the beautiful chandelier, the pool table, the bar and the very beautiful antique furniture was a pleasure to see! A true time capsule! - How you were imagining the life of the former inhabitants, was again once more so touching to listen. You really have a very sensitive and highly respectful attitude in approaching the former owners life, - always amazing to listen! - I also loved to listen to the lovely background music, well matching to the images you were showing. - Wishing you all the best and many more inspiring Urban explores! - Stay safe, lots of blessings and much love from Switzerland. - Kindest regards also to your adorable brother Jordy.

I love watching your videos of old houses. I think this one was refurbished in the 1960's going by the style of cupboards in the kitchen, known as cathedral style (I had the same in my home here in Canada). I think the billiard room was either a rebuild of a collapsed portion of the house or an addition because all the stone pointing is not very old. The bedroom which I think was above the billiard room was part of the rebuild?? fireplace more decorative than original. At some point in time this home was ransacked, judging by the upstairs and tell tell signs of small piles of belongings under tables, in corners. Someone has cleaned up the main floor rooms and staged them. The beam that you said was sagging, there was no sign of cracking in the ceiling plaster and that ceiling also looked like it had been repointed, the room above that room also had the same sag but no cracking in the plaster ceiling, which again were probably refurbished in 1960's. Also the upstairs was only tidied enough to do interesting photographs by previous explorers. The magazines brought from the storage room to add to the ambience in the other rooms. Definitely a beautiful home, lovingly restored around 1960's. I am devasted to think that this lovingly restored home, with all the modern convieniences added, has been left to decay once again. I do hope you closed all the windows, even though you did not open them, to hold back the weather from penitrating once again. Thank you for showing us what happens when families no longer care about their parents or ancestry homes. This particular home could be cleared, cleaned and be in use today. I apologize this is so long.

It might be a "pool table." The only billiard table I've seen had a way of scoring games and sliding tokens above the table on a wire. You are right: it's a Boar (head). Same pronunciation as "bore" when someone is a social-nerd and is boring to be around. In the USA we have boar's in Arkansas and further south. Not all wine is better "old." I know nothing about wines - except I like to drink them!! :) Ah HA!! Behind the large deer head is the scoring mechanism for billiards! You were right!! Peacock...no...a pheasant. This house seems to be, because of the construction and large beams, more ancient than 1900. The "fake legs" or prosthetics in the magazine were being advertised to the men who lost legs in the war. I will give you one euro if you spend the night sleeping on the billiard table :)

Lovely home and well worth restoring if this home were in England it would be snapped up quickly. The home appears to resemble a castle and was probably built in 1890 or the early part of the 1900's. Some of the furnishings were Victorian French design and in excellent condition.

The green decanter set might be valuable. I wish you had shown it longer. They had it going on there in their younger days it looks like. The wooden mirrored thing on the wall that you stated had something to do with pool is where you store and display the pool sticks when not in use. I could see the notches to hold the pool sticks in at the top part of it. A very cool place indeed, Lesley.🧡💚💛

This house again shows to me that some or all Old World countries must make it expensive to get rid of old junk and garbage. The just stash away every empty bottle, old magazines, boxes, furniture etc creating fire hazards. I bet they get one tiny garbage can. The billiard room had a mirror with two slots for his shotgun and rifle, not a score board which was behind the big Elk or Deer Buck head jammed behind the 2nd radiator.

Small upright piano is a French "dog kennel" piano. Or "Knee Hole" piano. It is from the 1830's or 40's at least. Why the odd names I don't know, also been called a "bridge" piano. But the piano has a arched open space at the bottom of it where the pedals are. I was always told it was so it didn't scrunch the ladies hoop dresses that were in fashion at the time. But it really has to do with the harp design of the inside of the piano, as the front and keyboard open out like a door for repairs. Link to one similar, you can google French dog kennel piano and pics will come up.

I love your videos and your voice is so soothing. My husband says your voice puts me to sleep when I have my earphones on. That’s a good thing. I’ll watch it again tomorrow. Stay safe. From Missouri, USA

The wine might be worth a lot of money by now! It must give you shivers knowing it was left on your birthday or but had been lived in long before that. They hunted large prey but the taxidermy is a little decayed. It seems an odd place for a pitchfork... maybe if you lost the game? Those boar are smelly and mean!!! There appears to be a string to call the butler!!!! A moose too???

Een gezellig intro, het is vroeg opstaan. Zeker een mooie woning en dat na zoveel jaar onbewoond. 7:49 dat is de tijd, is nog een mechanisch display, de timer kon je apart instellen.

How do these buildings stay abandoned that long without being vandalized and looted? American abandoned buildings are destroyed by vandals.

European mentality is different than american way of thinking. most of the time i noticed that Americans are almost the only ones who talk about taking the stuff out and selling it or they use the word salvage allot. in europe we just dont care for taking stuff that is not ours. I am not saying it never happens but its not so common.

The wine cellar was incredible. I know a bit about wines. Some wines are meant to be drunk young, others not. Red wines are better at aging. Wine can easily turn into vinegar as well. They could be very valuable or only good for dressing your salad. The cherries in the jar behind the bar was left from a cherry liquor. We make something similar in the U.S. called cherry bounce. Vodka or brandy with sugar and sour cherries. You let it sit for a long time to let the cherry flavor infuse. Thank you for the tour.

In some french shows, they show how they renove all this old credance (tiles above the stove) It's a shame because I think it's really beautiful (I love the ancient style) like we could see in the house of .... 70'....
