I’ve had people try to hit me with their vehicles while riding a bike for just a middle finger. One woman pulled right out in front of me from an alley, I had to swerve into oncoming traffic, I gave her the finger and she then tried to run me down before I got onto the sidewalk where she couldn’t fit. A number of my friends were in the area and tried to get her plates but weren’t quick enough. It’s insane, the number of psychopaths on the road.

If someone comes out with a gun and you didn't do anything to justify it, I'd hit him with my car. That would be self-defense. Install a camera in your car so you have the evidence. Could save your freedom, money (lawyers aren't cheap), time lost fighting it & your health (stress can kill you). Don't risk getting into a justification of force battle. Let the video do the talking.

Similar happened to me. I was taking my friends to work one day and this dude didn't know he could go, so I honked at him. He went, and I needed to go down the same road he was. My daughter was in the car too and she was only 5 or 6 months old. This dude starts going really slow and I'm like okay.. so I try to get around him. This is a two lane road, so I'm in the oncoming traffic lane. When I get up beside him he speeds up. So I get back behind him. He slowed down again. I tried to pass him again. Same thing happens. So I hit my horn. Then we're at an intersection and he pulls into the middle of it and blocks me from getting around and gets out of his car. Dudes charging at my car, and my two friends are literally yelling at this man to stop. He gets to my side of the car and I back up to get around him. He runs at the side of my car my infant daughter was on and PUNCHES the door multiple times and screams. Yes, I made a police report and my friends made statements. Dude had very recognizable stickers on his car. Dunno if they ever found him.

Hard for me to ever get angry enough to wanna do more than that especially while driving but at worst anyone getting mad because they happen to be impeded in idiocy as though they're not the problem just gets a "you're stupid" stare in the eyes and maybe a grin/laugh and a dismissing shake of the head if they're particularly animate. The Left Lane Law took effect in 2004 and reads: “A person shall not drive a motor vehicle in the passing lane of a highway if the speed limit is sixty-five miles per hour or more unless such person is passing other motor vehicles that are in a non-passing lane or turning left, or unless the volume of traffic does not permit the motor vehicle to safely merge into a non-passing lane.” Getting pulled over for using the left lane as a travel lane can get you a $100 fine and three points on your license.

@lincmerc1581

@Greg W Courtesy involves not tailgating someone signaling a left turn on a divided highway. Tailgating is aggressive driving. That's not courteous. Allowing someone to pass on an interstate who is using the passing lane for its intended purpose, is courteous. Driving aggressively over the speed limit and staying in the left lane isn't. Pass. Mover over. 120mph is not an excuse to stay in left lane.

Some don't even need any provocation. We had a motorcyclist out here on the freeway pass narrowly between vehicles, and get mad at a pickup driver for veering too close not expecting him to be in his lane between cars. Guy went ahead, got off his bike and started walking back towards them with a knife I believe. Dad with kids in the pickup was armed, and he took him out!!

LOL, that's what I'm saying. Worse case scenario would be the best case scenario: An actual cop sees you speeding. And the driver, Vanessa, panicking doesn't help. She just sits there while her friend is telling to actually go and not just sit there.

The driver sounded like a stupid character from a movie that doesn't know what to do when someone is threatening them. The whole time I was like, just fucking gas the car and get away. How can you not get away from a girl after she got out of the car. Either she driving like a grandma or the crazy lady has a super fast car

It can cause them to get more agitated - if they know they have your attention, they may start trying to open the doors, banging on the window trying to get in, etc. If you ignore them, they may go away. Not a sure thing, but it's always best to not engage.

I wish this news report told it how it really is so others can take the PSA from it; there are a lot of crazy people with all kinds of anger and other mental issues that turn violent. You can't expect wild beast to behave properly, thus you have to be cautious and apply common sense. These two women didn't deserve this experience at all, but they put themselves in harms way when they didn't actively avoid the crazy person by engaging it with a middle finger. Especially in America where anyone is likely to be carrying a gun, do not engage with crazy strangers.

mydna18shark What? That's exactly what this news clip said. They said that even the smallest thing like flipping someone the bird can take them from anger to rage in a second. They said when dealing with road rage avoid eye contact remain in the vehicle and call the police. What else did you want them to say? I think they did a great job. I would have thrown in not to beep at them but that's my opinion.
