You know, through your first two tutes (this barrel tutorial, and the general one you did before it), I've already done more than I did with Allegorithmic's gigantic, in-depth series.

Wow, Keith. That's a huge compliment! I felt the Allegorthmic was too complicated, so I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one :) Would love to see some of your work!

is that always we have to do with same setting in Ai standard to texture for any types of material , like you are doing with roughness, normal map etc
@MrGuardian19934 жыл бұрын
i'm new with UV and textture, there's a question i want to ask. Should i straighten uvs to draw a texture or just make a normal UV to draw a texture ? They said in order to draw a texture on UV, the UV must be straighten but if i do that, the UV checker will be deformed.
@AcademicPhoenixPlus4 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. It really depends on the item and what software you are going to texture it. The purpose of UVs is to have as little warping as possible so that the textures don't look stretched/warped when you put them on. If you are using Photoshop, I'd suggest getting UVs as straight as possible with as little warping, so it will be easier to texture. If you are using Substance, then I would have as little warping as possible and not worry about making them straight. I hope that helps!

Hi, so every time i use roughness map on the object, it renders the object as smooth metal. All the dirt and cracks and stuff do not appear at all. i'm trying to finish this project by Christmas and at this last stage everything is just not working. Alpha is illuminance is selected. Could you help, please?

Tried exporting my textures into Redshift, but whenever I tried applying them to the barrel in Maya, Maya poofed. This happened 3 times. Anyone have any ideas? Using Maya 2022, & RS trial version 3.0.45. Textures were 4,096 px PNGs (tried TIFFs, too, same result). Thanks.
