I use Titan roller j cups in my home gym. I don't think dragging the bar out is an option due to how the hooks are designed. I personally haven't had an issue pushing straight up, but at the same time, my bench is nowhere close to Coach Ben's.

curious, why does it take pounds off your bench? Is it because you use up alot of your strength unracking with the shoulders?

You lose crucial position in the unrack when you protract the shoulders. There is also a huge tendency to disengage the lats and not depress the scapula. When the bar is now taken into the locked out position, the lifter has to then sink the weight into the shoulders and try to reposition the scapula in the depressed and retracted setup. Very hard to accomplish this if you started the unrack with scapular protraction and you end up wasting energy trying to regain this ideal starting point. The back musculature is also not loaded/tensioned to receive the weight on the eccentric and you can affect the bar path going to the chest.
