I just pulled one of these JUNK clutches out of a customers car to replace with a name brand single disc setup. Customer installed his adler clutch a few weeks prior, and failed shortly after. After disassembly it was clearly evident the clearances for their custom throwout bearing was pushing on the pressure plate parly and causing the clutch to slip and the reason it failed prematurely. You would need an additional 3/8" clearance inside the bellhousing in order for the the clutch to work proper. If I had to guess, it looks like they use the same basket, and friction discs for a multitude of applications but changing the flywheel and the disc spline to match the application. To be fair they may work ok with other applications however, o2j / o2a vag transmission revisions do not work proper and the customer is out 500 bucks cost plus my labor to replace.

@@garagehacks69 good to know, I was also not really impressed the dampener is not big enough and the flywheel is to light which causes the car to jult at lower rpm’s it did not slip but still horrible clutch for a every day driver would only recommend them for race use only.

Yeah I agree I hope they are listening to these comments and make some Changes or make a model for street use

Some o2j have longer slave cylinder pins than others though? Around 3/8 difference too, I know because I replaced my slave and had a issue with engagement issues after. After comparing pin length and swapping the og pin into it, it worked. Mightve been the case with your client?

@@mechanicalwarriors hey mate, ive always wondered about these clutches. Is it still quite harsh even with the sprung centre? Since you're changing it out, what are you planning on changing to?
@mechanicalwarriors4 ай бұрын
@@clab80 it is very aggressive bite it’s almost impossible to drive it smooth on the street I would not recommend it for street use even with the spring center it’s almost impossible to drive and such an aggressive clutch will put extra stress on your gearbox and drive train and more then likely break something. I’m not keeping this clutch in my car. This type of clutch is for a track car only in my opinion, I drove it around for few weeks and actually started to hate driving the car so it’s definitely coming out for me. I have asked the company if they could do a semi organic clutch but they don’t do anything like this so until they do I will use something more suitable for street use some clutch manufacturers will make a twin disk system that has one organic clutch and one ceramic. These combo is the best for street and will hold big power

I have two set in drift cars with 600hp+, ceramic no spring option, whole season without problem. Pedal feel is much stronger, you need lot of force to push it and it grabs immediately so its tricky to moving off. Its handle like typical sport clutch, i not reccomend it for daily traffic use. But for motorsport it work great, for that price i'm not see better option. Its very light(whole set is about 9kg), so gear change is fast and afert clutch kick you feel aggresive kick.

I don’t see the problem with the clutch that you mentioned. Every clutch needs a break in period for about 500-1000 miles depending on if it’s highway or city The jerking motion due to the lighter weight can be annoying but most people are not going to be jerking their car around unless you don’t know how to drive. Once you break it in then give us another real review. But overall for 2 days of driving the clutch looks good in my opinion

@@Juancarlos22113 I drove it around for weeks it’s not a street clutch I have a uni clutch to put in next but I currently have the engine out of the car fixing some oil leaks and checking the wear of the engine
@Juancarlos221138 күн бұрын
@ oh gotcha, in your video you said something about 2 days with the clutch. A full break in depending on your driving habits can take 2-3 weeks then give us an update on the clutch if it feels better or the same. I’m trying to figure out how it compare to the exedy twin because that clutch can be rough before the break in period as well. That’s why I said what said earlier

@ appreciate it, that will help a lot of people wonder once it is broken in how will it really feel.
@mechanicalwarriors6 күн бұрын
@ it’s not so much the feeling of it to be honest u can get used to the grab the problem is for a rotary the rotating mass is a big deal if there is not enough wait in the flywheel it makes the drive very jumpy and horrible to drive and cost. Like for example if u sitting on 80 u can’t have it in top gear u need to have it in like 3rd maybe 4th if your lucky because it will bunny hop quite violently because there is not enough mass to counter small jumps in the drive line. It’s ok for racing because your on the gass off the gass but for every day driving it’s horrible. Maybe it will be better with a piston engine as they have more rotating mass but for the 13b I put it in it was horrible
